Why Ubisoft Should Come Up With a Subscription like EA Access

After an abysmal 2014, Ubisoft needs consumer friendly plans to be able to gain some self esteem.

Uh... No Thanks.

Who's next Activision? Then Bethesda? No thanks. The gaming industry doesn not need any more harebrained schemes to continue nickle and diming gamers. We already pay subscription to play online... then pay another fee for Season pass and DLC.

As long as it's optional I think it'd be pretty cool.

These services become less optional when more and more companies jump on board. These services can't stay the way they are right now as they need to be competitive. It's 60 per year for one, if another one comes out that is 120. With more companies getting on board less people are going to be able to afford more services which will just lead to more being put behind a pay wall (to appear competitive and drive users to their service over other services). Locking off content behind a pay wall isn't a new concept

@iamsuperman So your'e only pulling these negatives from speculation. Hm, ok. "These services"? The only one right now is EA Access and its doing really well for all the doom and gloom of "They'll pull games", "They'll lock content", "It's only bottom of the barrel bin games", "no new games will be added" speculation it received upon its announcement.

And it's $30 for one year, not $60, or $5 a month ( hey look you even get to test the games and the service for only $5 if you want). If every game in the vault right now (10 games) were as low as $20, which not even close to all of them are (and please don't pull the ebay card) you'd be paying over $100 to own all of them on the xbox one. More than what you'd be paying for a year of EA Access, and even if Ubisoft and Activision (Ehhhh, I don't really want Activision to) joined and started with a base of five games in their vaults, buying the 3 services for $30 each wouldn't come close to how much you'd have to spend to buy all those games separately, and hey, it's optional too!, but of course it doesn't matter, because based on how EA Access is coming along right now, it's obviously going to go to Sh*t anyways. /s

Tired of all this potential doom and gloom pessimism. I mean, you have a right to worry. These companies pull some shady ish some times, but it's. just. all. negative speculation man. And the service is even good.

God no. We will end up with multiple subscriptions which will just end up taking away content from something we already have to subscribe to.

I seriously wonder about the mental stability of people who write articles like these. How in the name of all that is holy can that this EVER be a good idea. If more companies do this then people will end up having to choose only one service to subscribe to because the cost to be subscribed to all would be astronomical.

I am glad Sony rejected EA Access. If big publishers all demand subscriptions then ill just play indie games.

I barely subscribe to plus (once or twice a year) there's no way I am gonna subscribe to another service

I can't sit here and act like I know these workers financial situations. And I'm sure nobody wakes up WANTING to go to court. But for the sake of the industry, I wish some of these types of cases made it to trial.

Settlements allow companies to continue to do whatever abusive practices they do. While the trials (should the company lose) would actually force real changes for the better.

But again, I'm not in these workers shoes and I can understand them not wanting to risk it.
