DC:
Sometimes simplicity is the best route to take when designing a game. HAL Laboratory certainly took that statement into consideration when they developed their Nintendo 3DS puzzle game called BOXBOY!
The game is exactly what it’s named, a boy who happens to be a box traversing through a wacky set of mazes trying to obtain black crowns, while avoiding obstacles that might kill him along the way. The idea of using a ‘box’, or sometimes a set of boxes, to get through these mazes is the main source of gameplay. Boxboy creates a certain amount of patterned boxes from his noggin; sometimes they hook onto ledges, sometimes they snake through spaces, and sometimes they create stairs/platforms for him to get from point A to B. Simplicity is the name of the game with BOXBOY!, so catching onto how the gameplay is used is anything less than difficult.

COG writes - 2015 was far from the 3DS' best year, but Nintendo's handheld still managed to have a wide array of good physical and digital-only games.

Daan is back with a vengeance... and to talk about downloadable titles again. Yeah, that too.

Cyburn writes : "HAL Laboratory (famous for Kirby and Smash Bros) have brought a new puzzle platformer to the 3DS eShop in the form of BOXBOY! Sit back and allow me to share my thoughts.
The main character “Qbby” (who is pretty much a small box with two eyes) is charged with the task of collecting crowns in this game. Using these he must use his special power (which is to create boxes and then detach them) to generate stairs, allowing him to solve puzzles and reach the exit. The number of boxes that can be created, plus how many can be used, varies from level to level, which encourages players to think of the most effective way to complete each level. Depending on whether you collected all the crowns in the level you are awarded with coins to spend in the shop where you can purchase challenges, techniques, or even costumes to customise your character".
