what if its deliberate?
leave the game running for too long and the game assumes youre stuck at a particular boss or something

MasterCornholio3940d ago

I dont think so.

:I

I died many times to father G and i never noticed him getting any easier.

I really think its just a bug.

Bathyj3940d ago (Edited 3940d ago )

I just beat him on my first go. It's not relevant. I'm just telling everyone I meet. :D

MasterCornholio3940d ago

@Bath

Oh yeah. I beat him with a broken controller.

How's that?

gatormatt803940d ago (Edited 3940d ago )

You can see this memory leak in full effect on IGN's how to beat Blood Starved Beast guide. I wondered why BSB was so easy on this video...

DragonKnight3940d ago

There's a bigger glitch, at least with Father G, when you play online. Twice now when I fought him and he reached the point where he transformed, both forms appeared on screen. His human and beast form. His Beast form acted normally, but I as a co-op helper couldn't damage it at all. His human form stood still and slowly floated forward towards the stairs at the back end of the area and did nothing else. That was the form I could damage with no risk at all. It didn't attack back at all. I actually had to record it so I could show people.

Also, if you use the jump glitch in Central Yharnam to access the Forbidden Woods sooner and go through Iosefka's clinic from the other side, you can beat a very difficult boss without them attacking you at all. But at least with that one, that's because you're exploiting a glitch, not because there's a problem with the online.

Deadlead3940d ago

Yeah the BSB and Amelia messed me up plenty before I finally tasted victory. Never got easier either, but I also wasn't playing a 12+ hr session. In Hemlick lane or something now, I have a SERIOUS love-hate relationship with this game.

Sheikh Yerbouti3940d ago

LOL @ Bathyj...you uber now huh? Play on player...what gaming is about.

Skizelli3940d ago (Edited 3940d ago )

I've played at least one 12+ hour session of Bloodborne, and I never encountered this "memory leak". I wonder if it's related to PS4's suspend/resume feature, which happens to mess up the ability to connect to anyone online until you reboot. The feature seems to negatively effect other games, too.

Seraphim3940d ago (Edited 3940d ago )

yeah I constantly play 12+ hours while sitting around waiting for insurance to approve surgery (which was just denied so back to where I was 4 weeks ago). Being on IR all I pretty much do lately is game. Furthermore I've left my PS4 on 2-3 times while sleeping, with Bloodborne on and it never got easier. For the record as the article states, turn Power Save off, I do have it off. Matter of fact BSB kicked me arse another 6+ times before I was able to beat him. Perhaps it was tunnel vision clouding me but BSB was by far the hardest so far. The Witches I got hosed on a few times but they were rather easy. I tried Paarl last night and he kept running away, auto lock doesn't work so even when he was near I had a tough time hitting him. Amelia I accidentally went into before Hemwick and she killed me with 2 swats and a fart. Anyway so far the only way I lowered the difficulty or made this game easier is the obvious way, spend some insight to push it under 10.

rainslacker3940d ago

While it's possibly a memory leak, one that takes 12 hours to start showing symptoms is hardly a leak at all. The number of processing cycles from playing a game for 12 hours will be up there in the scientific notation for the exponent, which itself would be in the billions, of a scientific notation number. That wouldn't even register on a analysis.

Memory leaks generally show up pretty quickly in games, and usually happen when a specific action is taken. Moreover even very small memory leaks can cause a game to crash on a system where the memory is very tightly controlled by the dev themselves. If something goes awry, the memory that's supposed to be available suddenly isn't. Consoles do not use a virtual swap file like PC's to accommodate fluctuating memory usage. More often than not, a dev knows exactly how much memory is being used for any number of combinations.

In other words, it's not playing the game for 12 hours that causes the problem, the problem is caused by a specific function leaking memory when it's called at some point during the game. This could happen in 1 minute of start up, 12 hours in, or never.

mic_cala3940d ago

Yea i hve to agree BSB was the hardest boss iv versed so far i dnt know why but cleric father and amelia where all fairly easy but BSB was a pain in the ass.

Up to hemwick now.

One-Shot3940d ago

I would consider that if this was a Kojima game.

360ICE3940d ago

That sure sounds like a fun way to play!

joab7773940d ago

Lol! I never play for more than 3-4 hrs. I like to make it last as long as damn possible lol!

Master-H3940d ago

Whoa, thank god I never left it running 12+ hours.
From, fix pls.

One-Shot3940d ago

Already is a fix, restart the game.

darren_poolies3940d ago

Why would you leave your game running for 12 hours and why would anyone want to do this?

DarkLordMalik3940d ago

What if you are so addicted to BB that you are playing for 12 hours straight on a weekend? This can happen too, even if unintentionally.

darren_poolies3940d ago

I'm l pretty addicted to the game and even for me 12 hours straight is a bit much.

joab7773940d ago

Those that found it didn't do it on purpose. They marathoned it as many did when it released, and the last half, which is supposed to be very difficult, wasn't difficult at all...some enemies not using any of their movesets.

I'd be pissed, missing out on that.

nix3940d ago

Once i played for 10 hours straight.

SouljAx3603940d ago

I've left games running for longer than that before. Start them, play them, leave to do something else, forget about them...fall asleep...turn on the TV the next day...oh shit I forgot this was on! LoL

FamilyGuy3940d ago

I've played some games for 16 hours straight, or at least left them running while I ate. With resume play I wouldn't have to do something like that with Bloodborne but prior to that update, leaving an adventure game running was pretty common.

nucky643940d ago

I can't believe anyone is that desperate. what ever happened to trying to get good at playing the game?

The title failure:
"Bloodborne: PS4 memory leak..."

First, it's the game that leaks memory so it's not a "PS4 memory leak". If they mean PS4 version of Bloodborne by "Bloodborne: PS4", it's just on PS4 of course and not required in the title, especially at that word position anyway.

"PS4 memory leak" could be to attract additional people who are not interested in bloodborne but may be wondering what that "PS4 memory leak" is.

Tapani3940d ago

Yeah, I hate these grammatically incorrect headlines and comments. I just gave up on these people, but you keep at it. We need someone to :D

Ohhhh, 12hrs Bloodborne on... I think should have seen that, cuz my PS4 is on through the whole day, and in-game. I just game when I have time or desire, like 4-6hrs of that.

Two more holidays, two more days with Bloodborne and DSII SotFS :)

Sony Remade Demon’s Souls, So Why Won’t It Touch Bloodborne?

The Outerhaven writes: Bloodborne is still one of PlayStation’s most beloved exclusives, but it remains trapped on PS4. Meanwhile Demon’s Souls got a full PS5 remake. But why?

thorstein14h ago

Demon's Souls was a PS3 game.

Bloodborne is PS4 and can be played on a PS5.

There's no need for a remaster.

Relientk7711h ago

I completely agree with you on this. If you want remasters or remakes give us games from the PS1 or PS2 era like Legend of Dragoon.

Eonjay5h ago

I would say thats a personal oponion trying to be passed off as a law. Truth is thre are many people who would love a remaster.upgrade so they can play Bloodborne at 60 FPS. People would literally love that.

shadowhaxor8h ago(Edited 8h ago)

I mentioned that in my article, did you read it? I literally pointed out this is exactly why the game is still doing well, and why Sony has zero reason to remake/remaster it.

And there are plenty of PS4 to PS5 remaster/remakes, to counterpoint that.

Marvel’s Spider-Man Remastered
GTA V Expanded & Enhanced
Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut
Control: Ultimate Edition
Death Stranding Director’s Cut
Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade
Uncharted: Legacy of Thieves Collection
The Last of Us Part II Remastered

Eonjay5h ago

Either because they technically can't because From Soft wont allow them too, or because From Soft is sorking on the sequal, remaster themselves. Therre is a third option of course and that would be that they are working on it

MinnesotaFatts3h ago

Some part of me wonders if there's some sort of corporate war going on at Sony.

Daver6h ago

I want a new one not a remaster

victorMaje5h ago

TLoU got the remaster & then the remake treatment.
Where is the next bloodborne, or remaster, or remake?

Goodguy014h ago

What it needs is a ps5+pc release. The game absolutely needs a 4k60 update. Lots of money sony is sleeping on while the souls genre is still hot.

MinnesotaFatts3h ago

Tell me you don't know what a remaster is without telling me.

Bloodborne is infamously capped at 30fps on either system--a bizarre design choice given that speed and reaction time is central to the gameplay systems. This capped performance was never patched out officially, unless you jailbreak and mod your console. A remaster for modern hardware, not the infamously finicky PS4 devkits, would be a great way to both hyper-optimize the game *and* drive sales for the PS5, which still doesn't have a system seller title.

RaiderNation8h ago

There might be some licensing red tape they cant get around?

shadowhaxor8h ago

That'd be interesting, but Sony owns the IP 100%. So, I can't see how that is part of the issue, if there is even one.

RaiderNation4h ago(Edited 4h ago)

Maybe Sony isnt interested in doing it without the assistance of Miyazaki and he's not interested? (Just spit-balling).

MinnesotaFatts3h ago

That's the issue according to FROMSOFT. They'd *love* to do a remaster, but Sony won't even return their calls.

Inverno8h ago

Because they're saving that for the PS6 to lure in all the suckers that will think they're making a sequel, but the whole gen will pass by and From won't ever touch it because Song doesn't care for either Demon or Blood outside of remakes.

Furesis5h ago

Because they made them do something else, then they canceled it and who knows what they are doing these days. They dont understand what they have and honestly i dont think they know what they are doing either.

blacktiger4h ago

How bout forget remade and start making new game pls?

Id take 10yrs later over 10yrs + later and being charged again for it.

PrinceOfAnger49d ago

Oh.. when did PS5 get Horizon 5 ?

How many years ? 5 years !
but they got no problem here right ?

Halo CE is 2001 game

What about if PS5 get Sunset over drive
How many years ?

Dexterio49d ago (Edited 49d ago )

And PC gamers wallets always lose :) Gotta upgrade that graphics card constantly because you want to experience all those hyper realistic graphics with solid frame rate LMAO!🤣

Gridknac49d ago

LOL, you upgrade your console every 5-7 yrs. When you do get that shiny new console it has 3yr old pc tech in it. Not to mention 1/2 of your purchased games may or may not work and oftem show very little improvement. If you were to get this type of a remaster from sony, it would cost you another $70. PC can run pretty much any game ever made and will give you the option to remaster it as little or as much as you like for FREE. PC sets the bar and your console attempts the bar 3yrs later.

DustMan49d ago

LOL. I updated my 1080ti to a 3080 for $300 in a part swap. that was in late 2020. I'm still crushing games at higher frame rates lol. Bought the PC in late 2017 with an i7-8700 cpu. Still. Going. Strong. Maybe upgrade next year or around the decade mark.

In the meantime I'll play every game imaginable via emulation, and new releases as they come.

Good-Smurf49d ago

The only reason Sony won't budge with this is that they probably want it to be more than remaster which is how ShadPS4 is doing to Bloodborne right now provided that you have strong enough hardware.

Arslan10049d ago

This article shows how Bloodborne can now run at 4 K and 60 FPS on PC via emulation — a big leap compared with the PS5 backward-compatibility version. and for translation help try: https://www.translationserv...

andy8549d ago

I really dont know why theyre holding on to this so much when its been asked for so much. Unless there'd a plan of a demons souls style remake

Miraak82 49d ago

Probably because their expectations of how much a game should sell is too high now a days, it only hit above 9 mil in sales in the coarse of 10 years. When they have franchises that sell x2 or x3 that number in half the time it's probably hard for them to justify the cost since they've gone the coarse of appealing to the widest audiences ... and Bloodborne isn't exactly that type of game . Even looking at trophies only a small percentage beat it let alone got half way through it sadly .

andy8549d ago

That's because of difficulty and not really much cost in remastering games. Look at what the PC community do for free. Its guaranteed profit for Sony.

Miraak82 49d ago

It's also a Fromsoft game and uses it's own propriety engine so unless they go to FS themselves or remake it like Demons Souls remake it's probably not worth the hassle from them .
