Neverwinter Review (Xbox One) - ThisGenGaming

Neverwinter has been a successful MMO on the PC for a number of years and with the newer hardware on the Xbox One and PS4, we are likely to see a few more MMORPG’s crop up in the next few years. With the trend towards co-op gaming only growing, MMO’s are a more and more attractive business model and many are happy to see the gap between console and PC experiences closing.

Hello, and thank you for covering this game. It was quite good on the PC and I have played it off and on since beta when I became a founder. That was one thing I saw wrong that stuck out. Neverwinter just came out last summer. It has not been out for years. Other than that, good read! Keep em coming. You can check my articles out at www.lovemyxboxone.com I havent posted recent cause I am finishing uo the new site design!!

Cheers!

Best of luck on the new site!

As my first MMO, it starts out too easy and the gameplay feels dated. It seems aimed at players more casual than myself.

I will have to wait until ESO is available on X1 to compare them as far as complexity of gameplay, AI and immersion goes.

It still has some more time to win me over, but first impression didn't leave the impression that it would hold my attention for very long.

@OpieWinston: I agree that it may not be for me. But I don't believe that I represent or speak for the majority of console gamers. This game may in fact go on to be very successful whether I continue to play it or not. I made it clear that it is my FIRST MMO. That was done so you would know that I am in no position to lay judgment on the game. Can only give my impression of my first hour with it. But it may just not be for me, or it could change my mind as I go deeper (doubt it will happen mostly due to AI).

The rest of your statement supports the "First MMO".

You probably shouldn't play MMOs if you judge it by being too casual when Neverwinter has a pretty dynamic combat for MMOs.

If that's the attitude you have, thinking an MMO will suck you in instantly...Then you're not the kind of person to play it. You've got to give it 20 or so levels before saying anything.

And dive into PvE, Dungeons/5 Man Raids and PvP... Before making any calls.

But seriously I can't believe you called it too easy and casual. People like you are the reason Console MMOs will never be a thing (MMOs built with consoles in mind).

Honestly I'm just saying MMORPGs aren't designed for you then.

Okay. On further review, after another 4hrs of play, I must say with all honesty, that I have completely reversed my view of this game. As the AI has ramped up and I developed new abilities and acquired new weapons, so has the gameplay.

With that said, I am happy to endorse and fully recommend this game to any gamers who likes their action RPG's with plenty of drops and chest.

There is actually a nice story here lots of items to juggle and decide for. There is choice in how you want to fight as you have range and close options, if you chose to be a Warlock as I have.

Its a very good game, and being free makes it that much more of a 'must play'.

UltraAtomic4074d ago

XD didn't like anything else other than the warlock!? myself included lol! I cant blame you. Warlocks are the Sh$# lol. So far this game is very good mmo, just what i was looking for. Makes me want DCUO even more on the x1.

I loved it. I've played all day already, its vicious. I hope that more and more mmorpg comes to next gen consoles

Hate to be the one to say this especially with my bubble situation and fact certain fanboys will flag this but it is the truth.

Neverwinter IS NOT coming to the ps4 it is a exlusive to pc/Xbox plats.

Sorry

Edit: Framerate issues are there but small. It was there in beta guess they decided it wasnt much of a problem.
Great fun though

Where in the article did it state it was coming to ps4? the reason for your low bubble count is obvious.

Zeref4074d ago

As an Xbox fan who likes to see xbox do well, I must say that I wouldn't give a flying shit if this game were to be available on the PS4.

It's a great game but it's definitely not a console seller.

OneLove4074d ago

Great game so far. Lvl 34 right now and I gotta say I'm kind of surprised of the good amount of people playing already.

bananaboats4074d ago

I hit 37 last night and it is now becoming apparent how important a proper group to do dungeons with is. I can see myself playing this game for a good while

kickerz4074d ago

Still waiting for it to release in Australia. Boo

It's for that online game, correct? I always wanted to see the drows home from Drizzt's books, I've read those years ago, but I never could fully imagine it from text alone. Looks a bit bright compared to what I remember how it was described, but I'm guessing that's for gameplay reasons.
