Remember, there was a time when Square Enix seemed to be exclusively in Nintendo's stable, not Sony's. As we started to witness near the end of the last technology cycle and throughout the current one, the age of the exclusive release is nearly over. Short of first-party developers, no one can justify limiting their sales by releasing a hot property on a single platform.
The days are gone when Ken Kutaragi could rely on Rockstar and Square to provide a stable of worthy competitors for the title of "must-have videogame." We're nearing an era where the purchase of a particular hardware platform is dictated by its features rather than its software. From the perspective of the average consumer, that's a pretty nice place to be.

While FFVII ranks highly, there's more to the series than one game. Here's Chit Hot's picks for the seven best Final Fantasy characters.

Alex Donaldson: "Hindsight is a hell of a thing, however, and in the years since Final Fantasy XIII, my respect for the decisions its developers made has skyrocketed. In the two Final Fantasy titles since we see both the brilliance and the folly in alternative approaches - and in Final Fantasy VII Remake, we get a more nuanced understanding of what FF13 was trying to accomplish from many of the same development leads."
FFXIII is actually one of the best Final Fantasy games.
I also sort of was disappointed at the time, never as much as the bandwagon. But really all the fantastic 3D rendered cutscenes and I actually liked the characters and the story though convoluted was actually fantastic and the ending was extremely emotional. So much budget and time were put into that game Square had such big plans, I actually have always felt kind of bad for how things played out.
I have been thinking for years how great it would be to get all three games on one disk for PS4 or 5.
i liked the game alot but i didnt like how they handled the terminology.
i dont mind reading data logs but it had soo many.
but i always loved the music and how it looked. the battle system wasnt too bad either.
but i like 13-2 more :)
i still dont understand why we never got a remaster of the trilogy
XIII is a pretty solid game, but XIII-2 is WAY better. XIII-2 was one of the few games I decided to go for a Platinum trophy in, early on. Had so much fun the entire way through getting it too!
I hated this to when it released. I haven't much liked a ff game since ff10 as much , aside from ff7remake. I decided to give it another shot on my series x since it's not on a current ps and was liking it quite a bit(just takes me some time to get over things ) until star ocean 2 remake came out I was all over that.
Square should definitely remaster it or something for ps4 ps5
it is not betrayl,u can not blame any body apart from sony(i know i will get dissagres from sony fan bois) but its sony arogance that is taking place! ms is not afraid to go to multiplat dev that are making exlusive for the ps3 and paying them money to bring it to their console, if sony said wait we want to pay u to keep it exlusive they would have done that but since we all know sony is aroganant and does not really belive in paying for exlusive they lost another exlusive,dmc4,gta4,re5 all thoes games will have stayed on the ps3 if sony paid for them but they did not.y no body knows!...sony really need to wake up and see that this gen is not like the last gen, money talks and ms is ready to throw money at dev to get as many multiplat or exlusive games that are ment to be for the ps3,...thoes of u who tought that the 360 will end up like the last x box i can bet ur haveing second tought now, sure sony still has loads of exlusive coming out this year and next but as time goes on ms will continue to dish out massive pay checks and keep going head to head for games...this gen is different its not going to be like the ps1 and ps2, rember every winner must lose at some stage -_-
The author's whole point is that it *isn't* a betrayal.
.
yh i know...that was to the ps3 fan bois that will probly see Square Enix move as a betrayal
I don't know about anyone else but I would rather Square go multi-platform and release titles for both PS3 and X360 and get the numbers they want. Instead of shifting focus to the Wii.
