One could be forgiven for thinking that Valve's SteamVR system made its debut at the 2015 Game Developers Conference (GDC) earlier this month with the HTC Vive virtual reality (VR) head-mounted display (HMD). In fact, the name SteamVR has been used by the company for a while now, referring to the option to navigate the digital PC store using the Oculus Rift HMD. Today Valve has updated the SteamVR Beta, bringing with it a host of new features and tweaks, some of which pave the way for the arrival of the HTC Vive later in the year.

It's wonderful to see studios investing in virtual reality concepts. Maestro, Coaster Mania, Dixotomia, and Bounce Arcade all seem quite intriguing. Miracle Pool would be my top pick.
It seems this confirms that the N4G community's interest in VR gaming only matters when it's about PSVR2, as I appear to be the only one who watched the entire presentation dedicated to VR gaming.
No problem, it's an impressive showcase with a plethora of intriguing ideas, such as the inclusion of mixed reality. My only complaint is the absence of platform games similar to Moss or Astrobots. Regarding my comments, they're a playful dig at the idea that I posted the story on June 26.
