Enough Is Enough, Ubisoft

Simon O'Neill discusses Ubisoft's descent into arrogant madness and their impact on the once beloved Assassin's Creed franchise.

Do you still enjoy Assassin's Creed, or are you like many others in that you think it is a dying IP? Let us know.

Keep them coming Ubisoft, I've never laughed so hard at a game before like I have with Unity!

Know whats more hilarious? Ubisoft getting away with mass producing a product with a shit multiplayer, a product thats completely unpolished, with a storyline thats cheesy, dialogue thats crap, and a premise that would only appeal to the lowest of tastes.

UltraNova4002d ago

Yet its Guerrilla that's getting sued for 'fake promises'...

OT: I bought all major AC games, however I stopped at AC unity. I wont buy it. I wont support them. I'll wait until its less than 10 bucks and used as hell.

They deserve every bit of flack they get.

Orbilator4002d ago

I cant help it and I know ill get hated but I enjoyed it and I'm not to far away from 100% completion. Enjoyed every minute to be honest.

BallsEye4002d ago (Edited 4002d ago )

I've never experienced a single bug in Unity and game just runs flawlessly for me. I'm or very lucky or XO version just has less problems. One of best looking games ever. In process of finishing DLC. Game is repetitive, yes but which isn't?

itsjustexuma4002d ago

Assassin's Creed Unity was going to be my first Assassin's game I played but now that I think of it I'm glad I didn't buy it

USMC_POLICE4002d ago

Black flag should of been your first over unity, black flag is my favorite to date.

Ezz20134002d ago

try AC:Rogue too

Black flag and Rogue are my favorite assassins creed games

HammadTheBeast4002d ago

Black Flag is so good so far. I just got it a couple weeks ago, it's been my first AC since AC:2, and I'm really surprised by it.

Vanfernal4001d ago

Agree. The thing is Black Flag works really well as a standalone pirate game. That's the only reason I got it. They should make a pirate ip that has nothing to do with Assassin's Creed.

Bercilak4002d ago (Edited 4002d ago )

I stopped buying these games after Patrice Desilets left the company. I knew then that the story would unravel quickly and promptly auger into a big steaming pile of story-telling dung.

And, voila!

ninsigma4002d ago

I can't make head nor tails of the story anymore. It used to be building to something, that was going to change the modern world (is that what was meant to be going on in 3??) but now it's become so convoluted and it doesn't seem to be leading anywhere. I used to love the story in this game but I just can't keep going with this franchise, it's lost its way.

Saijahn4002d ago

I still enjoy the series but I think the jump into MP made the story of the series suffer. I'm definitely skipping this years game, but next year if they are in an Asain setting with the birth of the ninja...i'm certainly on that.

christian hour4002d ago

I think that's exactly why ubisoft has been holding off bringing out an AC game set in feudal japan or a similar era, they're saving that for when sales stagnate and overall public opinion on the franchise is at an all time low then BAM "Assassins Creed: uUUugh, NUNJA?!", will pull everyone back in.

I know it'd work on me.

poppinslops4002d ago (Edited 4002d ago )

There aren't really any historical recorde of Ninja... they're briefly mentioned in a few texts, but they're basically a mystery.

Assassin's Creed is known for it's 'authentic' recreations of historical locations, events and figures... Yeah, Ubisoft change things to suit their storyline, but it's always been reasonably realistic.
If they did a Ninja Assassin's, they'd have to make a LOT of educated guesses... too many, I think.

The leading theories suggest that Ninja were mostly peasants, using whatever was available for weapons (farming tools and such)... but there weren't any Ninja clans in secret mountain temples.

Their sneaky reputation came from a willingness to exploit the Bushido code... Openly challenging a Samurai to single combat would probably get you killed - easier to ambush him at night.

DedicatedDark4002d ago

Watch Assassins creed: embers movie. I feel that we will get an Assassins creed set in japan or china soon.

ironfist924002d ago

I personally enjoy the games, but once a year is ridiculous.

They either need to end the series, or release them every two years.

I still love the games for its diverse locations, gameplay, beautiful visuals and intricate and complex and engaging narrative aspects.

Ubisoft CEO Explains Three-Year Plan to Revamp Game Publisher Through New ‘Creative House’ Strategy

“Assassin’s Creed” publisher Ubi soft is trying to emerge from a rocky few years. CEO Yves Guillemot breaks down the new strategy for success.

Well it will come down to the games. Hopefully they live up in o expectation.

“Ubi soft is trying to emerge from a rocky few years“

^ THIS after Ubisoft’s fluff pieces about how great they are doing after Assassins, Attack on Titan and laying offs. The hype fell the floor apparently.

Agent756d ago

I was a bit gutted with The Division, too many bells and whistles like Far Cry. Never rated Prince of Persia or The Crew. Rayman, it’s too long in the tooth, lay it to rest.

PRIMORDUS6d ago

Far Cry and Assassin's Creed, this is all Ubishit can make. It would be better if Ubishit just close down, and sell their other IP's, like Splinter Cell, Beyond Good and Evil, etc. Far Cry and Assassin's Creed can just die, that is enough.

KicksnSnares4d ago

We need a Far Cry 2 remastered/remake.

They should just make games. That sounds crazy, I know, but, hear me out.

No need for dev-times to.take 3+ years. Just stick to formula. Not every game needs to be bigger & better than everything else. Not every game needs to be GaaS. Not every game needs to completely re-invent the wheel.

They KNOW how to make a cool Splinter Cell game; Interesting story, 8-10 levels, just go and make it. Give the people want they know, want and love. It doesn't need to be a shared online experience. It doesn't need to be an epic big open world. It doesn't need celebrity voice-acting. Just make a cool new SC game, and the fans will be happy and pick it up. Easy. Done. Next one.

Same for Prince of Persia, Watch-Dogs, Assassin's Creed, Trials, Rayman, Brothers in Arms, etc.
