PS4 Version Final Fantasy Type-0 HD Larger Than Xbox One Version

The file size for the HD Remaster of Final Fantasy Type-0 HD seems to be larger on the PS4 than its Xbox One counterpart.

The reason for the difference (almost 17%) remains unclear.

Could be anything tbh. Does anyone know the current file size differences between most multiplatform games?

Eonjay4099d ago

This. It could be anything from file system storage to compression technologies to asset size. Even if both games are 1080p, there could be a difference in texture resolution.

Or it could have something to do with the hardware itself. For example, the Xbox One could be using fixed function hardware to increase data decompression speeds allowing for smaller install packages.

Or it could be a typo.

iamtehpwn4099d ago

Indeed, it's more than likely because of the compression technologies being used on the FMV's or textures that results in a small over all difference.

_-EDMIX-_4099d ago

Agreed. PS4 can render more, thus they have larger files.

Both are 1080p, but 1080p isn't one thing...

We know not of what quality, effects, features etc are bumped up on each game.

If the PS4 can render more, they likely will make the models reflex that.

vishmarx4099d ago (Edited 4099d ago )

its a japanese game made by SE,
i wouldnt be surprised if the ps4 version had significantly more work put into it.
they made ps3 version of ff13 significantly better when it wasnt the obvious stronger hardware and hard to develop for

Dravidian4099d ago

Probably bigger textures and less optimization. No biggie as long as it plays well.

paleselan14099d ago

Different types of compression? My god, this shit gets so overblown.

DeadManMMX4099d ago (Edited 4099d ago )

It was like this a lot with multi platform games last gen too. A 360 disk was 7.29 gb for most of the consoles life until the last two and a half years they unlocked the security sector and that capacity went up to 8.3 gb. Plenty of ps3 versions were larger installs. For various reasons as mentioned above. Most likely the lack of needed compression because of blu rays larger storage size but who knows.

_-EDMIX-_4099d ago

shhhh

keep it down, XB fans don't like being told that 360 limited an entire generation using a dated format that was used the generation before THAT!

I agree, I think its likely that though lol.

A large portion of the development community really hated that MS did that, Kojima, Dan and Sam Houser of GTA fame, John Carmack etc

....I mean way to get the top game developers of our time hating your technical decisions lol

Still finally glade they listened to developers and caught up!

Really want Mass Effect 4 to be open world now that it doesn't have to deal with small DVD PS2 sizes now!

DeadManMMX4099d ago (Edited 4099d ago )

It was rarely an issue until the last big aaa titles started coming out in the last two years. Blu ray was unproven back when those systems launched hell HDTVs weren't even widespread yet at all. Sony was pushing a new technology they had invested in at the cost of price and look how that worked out for them in those early years. Crazy and sadly enough 6 or so years later and Blu Ray still hasn't vanquished DVD or else I imagine by now we would be talking about Blu Cube which is where I'd like it go next lol. Well need a new format soon as 4K movies won't fit anywhere near a Blu Ray disk.

nowitzki20044099d ago

Yeah like 3-5 discs on 360 for a game and 1 disc for the same game on PS3.

Final Fantasy Type-0 HD Review – Zero Regrets

Gary Green said: After finally getting the long-overdue platinum trophies for Final Fantasy VII, VIII, and XV, I wondered if I could manage another. Despite a few blunders, it’s a franchise worth showing off in your collection. I had to find another game with a realistically achievable platinum, which sadly rules out quite a few. Fortunately, I didn’t have far to look as I dusted off Final Fantasy Type-0 HD, which was, in fact, my very first PS4 game, and one that’s aging surprisingly well.

Type-0 Is The Darkest Final Fantasy Ever Made

DS: “I hate that Type-0 is forgotten among the Final Fantasy games. While not the strongest entry, its mature story makes it stand out from the others. And even though Final Fantasy now has three rated M games — including Stranger of Paradise: Final Fantasy Origin and Final Fantasy XVI, — Type-0 will always have the crown of being the first, and arguably the darkest.”

i agree that it is indeed dark, but it has its issues.

and i feel like the ending is what makes it really a dark final fantasy game.

the rest is more or less war where teenagers fight.

fsfsxii1085d ago

This game was the epitome of the FF dark age pretty much, was hella boring and the gameplay was tedious. I'm glad SE got the series back on track

gold_drake1085d ago

well, it was more of a spin off rly.
especially after they dropped the fabula nova crystalis stuff

H91085d ago

I actually really love this game, the main problem however was that the entire story and personality of the characters, was in the lore that you need to dig very deep to find and external materials outside of the game, honestly it has my favorite lore in the franchise, I wish they had made the game more story focused, god it would have been a masterpiece

This Final Fantasy Type-0 HD Mod Runs The Game At 120 FPS

The PC port of Final Fantasy Type-0 HD had many problems, and now a new mod fixes them and lets you play at 120 FPS.

jznrpg1257d ago

120fps is overrated and totally unnecessary for these types of games . 60fps is more than plenty

KrillinShine1256d ago (Edited 1256d ago )

That's subjective, I'll take 120fps if the hardware can handle it over 60fps if given the option. Nothing wrong with liking smoother visuals.

jznrpg1256d ago (Edited 1256d ago )

120fps will make most games suffer someway . If it doesn’t sure great 120fps but if it takes anything away from it I’d rather have 60fps . For online shooters I get it but for RPGs I’d rather have more detail and such and 60fps instead of losing some of that and 120fps .
I played DMC at 120fps and I couldn’t tell the difference myself besides that the graphics were worse .

KrillinShine1256d ago

You're missing the point - to some people 120fps is more pleasing to the eye than sharper visuals, higher texture quality and/or AO. No harm in giving people the option for it, mod or not.

Also, you couldn't tell the difference between 60fps and 120fps? Are you sure you have a monitor that supports 120fps? It's a night and day difference to me.

CrimsonWing691257d ago

I couldn’t get into this game. I probably should give it another try.

Kurisu1256d ago

I quite enjoyed the game to be honest! Sure, the story wasn't amazing. But it was good to see FF try a new direction. Was nice having so many playable characters, but it's a shame that there is little to no charcater development for any of them.

CrimsonWing691256d ago

Ye, you're not alone. I really tired, but I couldn't. The only reason I even pushed myself to play it for a while was because I'm an FF fan, but it just didn't click. The intro FMV was epic though.

jznrpg1256d ago

The way it loads so much I didn’t care for but it’s not a bad game . Story is weak and if they had a good story I would love it . But with a meh story it’s decent . I like most things Final Fantasy though so I could see how some wouldn’t care for it .

CrimsonWing691256d ago

Yea, I’m in the same boat where I can like most things Final Fantasy related. I’d like to fire it up again just to get the platinum at least.

Shinox1257d ago

One of the worst overhyped FF games with garbage story , people made a mistake hyping this up

Kurisu1256d ago

I'm still glad that I actually got to play it. When it released exclusively in Japan on PSP I didn't think I'd ever get the chance.

jznrpg1256d ago

I enjoyed it but I see the point of the story being bleh

TheColbertinator1256d ago

This was originally a mobile game in development so the lack of vision became apparent as the game released on the PSP first.

Kurisu1256d ago

Agito XIII, back when the Fabula Nova Crystallis games was supposedly going to be a thing.
