Indie Games Could Help Save the Wii U

The Verge - Nintendo may finally understand why small studios are important.

Owning a Nintendo console means being patient. While the company's internally developed games are as amazing as ever, the Wii U, and to a lesser extent the 3DS, are largely bereft of third-party content. Once Mario Kart comes out, all you can do is wait until The Legend of Zelda arrives. But the company may finally have found a solution for the quiet periods in-between big Nintendo games: smaller, digital releases from indie studios.

If their 1st party studios can't whats makes you think indies will ?

And I thought the wii u was profitable?

The Wii U is profitable, and Nintendo has started recording profits for their earnings reports again.

The title is clickbait

roboshort4107d ago

Unfortunately, the bait worked on me and I ended up wasting my time reading a bad article by someone who should leave journalism.

Not Only that, actual 3rd party games would make a considerable difference in the monthly sales numbers for the Wii U.

I know the Wii U is sellling at a slower pace than both the PS4 and Xbox One at the moment. But The Xbox One is only a 1-2 millions units ahead of the the Wii U right now. So if you can make a multiplatform game for 10 million XBox One owners, than you should be able to make that same game fore a potential 9 million Wii U owners as well.

My two cents of course.

Clickbait Trash.

Dirty Verge stench.

Who said it needs saving? The wii u is profitable and is doing fine. Could do better but not in desperate need.

ThatOneRiggaNob4107d ago

Apparently every system needs saving besides the PS4 this gen.

StormLegend4107d ago

No Indies won't help! More AAA games is what helps! and WiiU is getting them now.

traumadisaster4107d ago

I've found indies remind me of last gen games. So I just play those since I havent finished them and I already own them.

Acquiescence4107d ago

then I sincerely doubt that the likes of Octodad will reverse its fortunes. Sales wise, it is an utter failure of a console. Better luck next time Nintendo.

wonderfulmonkeyman4107d ago

Because that's all anyone has ever bought a Nintendo system for, right?
No.

The more games it gets, and the more exclusives it grabs to replace the shite third party multiplats it once received, the better it will sell in the long run.

Indies will only add to its success factor.
