Dem title infractions! Must resist reporting......

Well deserving winners all around.

mikeslemonade4141d ago

Great list.. I agree with many of them

choujij4140d ago

I'm glad some exclusives from both Sony and Nintendo won (I:SS & SSB4).

Destiny also deserved some wins.

Gameplay Innovation
Nemesis System, Middle-Earth: Shadow of Mordor

Best New IP
Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor

Couldn't agree more!

Aloy-Boyfriend4140d ago (Edited 4140d ago )

Sorry for being a debby downer, but the nemesis System is not gameplay, it's a game feature. Mordor's gameplay is a Batman and Ass Greed's mash-up. No innovation there.

Still a good game btw.

Ikki_Phoenix4140d ago

more like orc simulator
its really not a bad game...but awesome ?
no.

antz11044140d ago

No game play innovation? The nemesis system directly affects your play style, tactics, and overall experience. And it's never been done before. I kinda thinks that's the definition of innovation.

As for a mash up good luck finding games today that don't borrow mechanics from others. I'm just glad Mordor takes them and improves on them.

Just to provide our description for the Innovation category:

"Moving a genre forward in either big ways that challenge conventional thinking or through subtle, nuanced techniques to a standard visual/gameplay/storytelling formula is what this selection is all about."

Seems to fit the bill there.

Palitera4140d ago (Edited 4140d ago )

How many videos did you watch on your playthrough of SoM?
Did you play a few minutes?

The game borrows mechanics but is much more than a simple mash up. The use of magic alone already adds a completely different necessary layer.

And, to be honest, it is much more creative on its mission design than ANY AC game. (Didnt play Unity)

Excellent game, just finished playing it. 100%

BABY-JEDI4140d ago

I'm still playing it. Just over 60hrs gameplay so far. Can't help collecting stuff LoL, it's killing meeeeeee

WellyUK4140d ago

Personally thought it was nothing special, Just wasn't epic enough and i'm sorry but that ending was absolutely terrible and the game in general was far too easy. Although the Nemesis System is a great addition and deserves the award but the rest of the game was very mediocre to me.

The-Marb4140d ago

A thoroughly excellent title indeed.

The combat may be pure Arkham but the nemesis system is great and its the first time Ive played a game where it really incentivises not dying.

That sounds silly but it reality affects the way you play the game.

The List is great, but wish Alien: Isolation, Wolfenstein: The new Order and Shovel Knight got some recognition as well

daBUSHwhaka4141d ago

Wolfenstein was a superb little gem.Still got Alien Isolation in the wrapper.

Justjoined1234141d ago

You should definitely start unwrapping then, Alien Isolation is superb.

shaw984141d ago

I disagree with GOTY, dlc and multiplayer votes. Mario kart 8 was robbed of best dlc.

EA Cuts Around 300 Roles, Including Roughly 100 at Respawn

In addition to the roughly 100 job cuts IGN reported earlier today at Respawn Entertainment, EA has made wider cuts across its organization today, impacting around 300 individuals total including those already reported at Respawn.

Absolutely insane. Man I'm hope they land on their feet EA needs to get the shit together badly....

This is why this industry has slow releases and none compelling games.

Why would anyone willingly work in the VG industry or specifically for one of these globocorp organizations that put you in constant fear of losing your livelihood based on terrible choices made by idiotic management, not the people with talent making the actual games?
