it is only normal for successful games to get to a 3rd iteration.. why kill an IP that sells? you fail to see this because Halo is on the xbox 360 which explains why you completely ignore how many iterations of final fantasy and Metal gear are out there... ohh and Grand Turismo...

incase u didnt no , metal gear had some variations in the story , the gameplay , u play as raiden , snake , big boss , and nver the same mechanics allover again , hey look , lets save the earth from stupid aliens over and over again , same weapons , same everything , now im not saying its a bad game , i personally own it but i dont play that much , im more of a gears of war guy , this game is hella sweet , and they should focus on it , enough halo, and by judging ur writing , i can say ur a complete halo blind fanboy and arguing with you is like trying to convince a baby to start masturbating :S , and btw i think final fantasy should seriously slow down on games , i lost count of its parts , and as for mario , he should just hang himself

mmm.. @lociefer and let me guess... they cannot make a halo game with a different name, different main character and different weapons... simply because you say so... The Halo universe is a lot larger than most games.. including metal gear.. it's just like Mass Effect... stories can be many about any planet in the universe, any race... I mean take a look at Halo Wars... is it about Master Chief? It's an RTS game... try making an RTS game with Metal Gear... see my point? Halo can also be compared to Star wars... with so many planets in the univers... are you saying that there is no way they can make a halo game base on something other than master chief.. but they can with Metal Gear? ha!

by the way... I am willing to bet that there are more metal gear games where you play as Solid snake than halo games where you play as master chief... uhh duhh.. I played all metal gear games but MGS4.. and guess what.. you play as solid snake on it... just as MSGS3 and 2 and 1... so you failed at the point you were trying to make... if you can't think of how Halo can be made into a different story you have a very limited mind..

Sales of a game doesn't make a game great, the game itself makes the game great. So even if MGS4 might not sell as much as Halo 3, MGS4 is still a better overrall game than Halo 3, plus MGS4 hasn't even been out for a whole month yet, so don't go judging how well MGS4 will or will not sell. Several major video game sites have already considered MGS4 one of the best games this decade, I didn't hear that about Halo 3.

And another example, Shadow of the Colossus didn't sell Millions and million of units, but it's been considered one of the best PS2 games of all time and like I said before, game sales don't make a game.

Its normal for new IP's to slip through the cracks... but not with a game that has a HUGE backing like Metal Gear series... it didn't fall through the cracks. Everyone knows about Metal Gear 4. So sales are what they are. You can't blame any other outside aspect. It is what it is.

This is the same about Halo. Everyone knew Halo games.

If Halo 3 can obtain the insanely high sales numbers that still follow it to this day... MGS4 could have did the same thing.

And while it is true that the game itself makes a game great... but sales reflect this. With 2 popular names like Halo and Metal Gear sales numbers are fairly accurate at how liked the game is vs the other. Neither game would have reached the sales they had otherwise.

And also each Halo is different as they are a series. The next iteration picks up where the last one left off. So of course you'll have similar weapons throughout all 3 games. Of course each game offers new content but you can't expect Bungie to stray too far off the successful path they were on.

I'm not knocking MGS4... I'm just blowing holes in your argument.

i bet a lot of people are gonna cry after they read that....but ya i wouldnt mind if halo came out for ps3 it would be tight. Like i have a xbox 360 but i dont play it to much cuz it makes me really nervous whenever i turn it on (red ring of death) and its so loud and to me it seems so last gen with its dvd 9 compared to the ps3 and all if its innovative features. The 360 only got better grapics from the original xbxox

HALO Ce was the most influential CONSOLE FPS, even more so than GE. Just look at how many games have the 2 weapons and recharging health standard. Halo seemed to make that "the cool thing to do." Halo 2 took console online gaming to the next level.

My fav fps are on pc. HL, cs, and deus ex.

Halo is a hunk of junk. I don't like the game period. However I wouldn't mind seeing GeoW2 (not the 1st one) on PS3, but it's definitely something I can live without.

To me, one game does not define my console of choice therefor crying over a game because it's not on PS3 is not my style. I would much rather play SSHD than almost any game right now (with the exception of MGO).

My PS3 has seen many titles come and go and that's exactly how I plan to keep playing my PS3. I don't still play CoD4, I play the games that are out now (and that keep coming out every month or two). It gives me time to play the game, cherish it, and move on. Which is exactly what the 360 isn't doing. With everyone sticking up for Halo 3, it's pretty obvious to see why Halo 3 is practically the only game for 360. If Halo moved to the PS3, I guarantee it would have it's month of fame and be thrown away with the release of new titles in due time.
