Sounds good to me. Make some high quality anime RPGs

More adventure / mystery visual novels too! Stuff like Danganronpa, AI: The Somnium Files, House in Fata Morgana, Master Detective Archives and Zero Escape.

AI was phenomenal; both of them.
Haven't gotten around to playing Rain Code, but I did pick up the LE when it released. Not a genre I care to play often, but fantastic games.

Now here comes the worry again. If Sony is publishing those games, then they will likely not publish on any Xbox platforms. PC gamers that are domiciled in countries that are not supported by PSN will also be barred from playing From Software games or anything from Kadokawa. If this is happening then, it is a good deal for playstation only fans who are diehard and will support Sony no matter the cost but bad for everybody else.

We need more clarity on what to expect going forward.

Well if Sony is publishing the game then that means the game wouldn't exist if not for Sony. So no point crying that you can’t play it except on a Sony console.

Lightning77452d ago (Edited 452d ago )

Well the clarity won't come until they announce their next project that's not elden Ring.

Sony owns 10% so they may get additional sales revenue with each game sold and a piece of the Fromsoft yearly profits. That's money Sony doesn't wanna leave on the table at least I would think. Even when they publish their next project, keeping it exclusive in this day and age seems less and less likely. Jason Schreier believes that third party exclusives will longer be a thing going forward.

Tbh it's hard to tell if Sony will keep the games exclusive. If From softwares game ends up on new consoles, yes I can see Sony keeping it exclusive to the PS6 as they still believe in the platform and selling said platform. If they announce a project for current gen then I can see it being multiplatform.

DivineHand125452d ago (Edited 452d ago )

Unfortunately, Sony has made decisions that show they care more about the strength of the playstation brand vs the profits.

The Lego horizon game that came out a few months ago was out on the Nintendo Switch and Playstation but not the Xbox. This may be that despite their dominance in the console market, they themselves do not believe that their position is safe to an extent. Fast forward to more recent times, I was browsing steam a few weeks ago and was shocked to learn that the same Lego game, requires a PSN account. All those countries where PSN isn't supported is blocked from playing the game. If Sony cared about maximizing profits, they would have removed that crazy requirement that is needlessly keeping millions from buying their games on PC.

Eonjay452d ago

I really wouldn't worry. I imagine that the next ER will still be multiplatform because the sales are just really sky high and if they are publishing that's just too much money to walk away from. They may sell early access to promote PlayStation but other than that they are in it for the money.
