Incoming hater denial comment, ''Lol PS4daily saying Sony is awesome.''

Credit where is due, this is customer service well done.

Wingsfan244116d ago

Well, I mean, Sony being ethical should be applauded, but on the other hand it should be expected..by all businesses.

Naga4116d ago (Edited 4116d ago )

Sony is awesome because they upheld their end of the PS Plus contract?

You know, it's a real indictment of the industry when we find ourselves praising companies for fulfilling their legal obligations.

PoSTedUP4116d ago

they gave me a full 60$ refund almost a year ago because i Accidentially bought Grid2 digitally. i felt like i got treated better than i should have.

ninsigma4116d ago

@Naga
I think that this something that can be found across every industry. All companies now a days are trying to get away with as much as they possibly can at the expense of the consumer. While you are correct in saying they fulfilled their legal obligations and this should be service as standard, but this isn't seen across the board, so it needs to be acknowledged when it happens and when companies do the opposite, take action. It's the only way they'll learn. Somewhere along the line consumers have forgotten who's the boss. That it is us who are keeping them in business.

Army_of_Darkness4116d ago (Edited 4116d ago )

Sony is awesome because of their random flash sales :-D I get like 3-5 good games for like $30! As a budget gamer, the PS4 is the way to go baby yeah!

pivotplease4116d ago (Edited 4116d ago )

Agreed about the flash sales. Nintendo and MS don't have nearly as many sales and they tend to be not as good. I say this as someone who hunts sales on a daily. MS occasionally pulls out a decent sale (only in the past year mostly) that might have a game or two cheaper, but if I go through my purchases I can say that I've gotten over 30 games for like 100 bucks. My favourites were GoW Ascension for $18 the year it came out and KZ Merc for $9 the same season it came out. There's a reason my backlog includes about 100 games and it's not only because of PS+.

magiciandude4116d ago

Let's face it, it is required by law for Sony to do this. Credit goes to the government as well. Just saying...

Azzanation4116d ago

So a Sony site praising there own service by ripping you off $5 then refunding you $5 is considered great service?

Great service isn't ripping you off at all from the start. Sorry to turn this into a hate post but honestly why are gamers so easily pleased with what they read on the net.

AndrewLB4116d ago

Since when is it considered "awesome" for a company to refund money they overcharged you for? Keeping the money could have landed them in court once people got their credit card statements and saw they overpaid.

I would only agree with the "awesome" statement if they not only refunded the $5, but offered the person a 10% discount on their next PSN purchase as an apology for the inconvenience.

I bet there is at least one person out there who was overcharged that $5 and as a result, had their account overdrawn and then fined $30+.

Also, the offering of 10% on their next purchase is just smart business since it encourages additional spending.

XisThatKid4115d ago (Edited 4115d ago )

Saddly Sony could have easily gotten away with doin nothing for compensation save for a few hundred thousand negative comments on various sites around the net but no real damage. Aside if its true by law to compensate of course.
I am so glad they did this and there is notbing wrong with those that feel grateful for a company compensating for a service they provide that has been compromized or for ANY reason.
I love plus and off line and on I benefit from my investment. THAT is what I consider awesome.

Personally I find Sony's customer service to be very hit and miss, I once bought a 1 year ps+ membership from a local store which ended up not working, the local store (which i now refuse to shop at) wouldn't do anything to help me because "i had no way of proving I didn't already use it" so i contacted Sony and they were very quick to sort it out, and actually just ended up adding the 1 year membership to my account. But then, i was having an issue with my dualshock recently (grips wearing off the thumbpads) which seems to be a known issue and they were giving me the run around and were the opposite of helpful, saying i'd have to pay for repairs because it was damaged by improper use and i have to pay shipping as well and it was quite frustrating. It seems to have a lot to do with who you deal with.

ninsigma4116d ago

Yeah you're right that it's all about who you deal with that's on the other end of the phone or email. No company can get it right every time. Though I feel like several people would come across the same issue you had with them over the dualshock thumb sticks. They had a thing where if you returned a controller that came with the ps4 due to thumbsticks wearing out within the ps4's first year they would change it for free. But It's been over a year now, so you'd probably be very lucky for someone at Sony to give you a free one.

Gazondaily4116d ago

Not a fan of Sony's customer service at all. I'm still having trouble with dealing with them regarding my Xperia Z3. Ah well, I hope I'm in the minority.

NuggetsOfGod4116d ago (Edited 4116d ago )

Here is an actual cool story ..
http://kotaku.com/gabe-newe...

I still think the Gabe Newell story is the best customer service story this month.

Not everyday the ceo himself contacts you to help.

That would be like kaz giving you guys customer service which would never happen lol

Christopher4116d ago (Edited 4116d ago )

Because they did their job?

Yay! Go Sony! You did your job!

/confused

Edit: Just FYI, they're required by law to refund money that was overcharged to a customer...

Nineball21124116d ago

Hey, don't make me mark you for trolling...

#tryingtobeamusing

Death4116d ago

Not many people are aware of the laws in place to prevent customers from being overcharged. We simply need to look at the $4 million dollar settlement by Target this week to see what happens when customers pay more than the advertised price. Sony is awesome for many reasons. Overcharging a customer and then refunding the difference isn't one of the reasons.

DragonKnight4116d ago

Honestly I don't even know why this article was submitted AND approved. This is a few sentences of some random person's unsolicited customer service experience. Why would people care to read about this? It'd be a story if Sony not only refunded the money, but offered him something more for the mixup, but as it stands this is a non-story.

Pogmathoin4116d ago

Lol, they made a mistake, fixed it.... awesome? No, they should have done due diligence to make sure it did not happen.... same goes for any company.....

XanderZane4116d ago

There shouldn't have been an apology because there shouldn't have been a mistake to begin with. No issues means awesome service. Sure it's good that they caught their mistake though. Now I'm wondering if any of these mistakes were actually missed. Sigh....

I guess the $64,000 question is, did the PS customer service automatically do this? Or did the user have to send in a report first?

-EDIT- actually the article claims that it came directly from their end, so that answers my question there.. if only I read it properly the first time.. lol

Insomnia_844116d ago (Edited 4116d ago )

Did you read the article???

Edit - never mind.

Dannycr4116d ago

It was automatic. I got it like last week and did not have to report anything.

Neonridr4116d ago

Glad to hear that it was smooth and easy.

lameguy4116d ago

It's possible that some other user had already alerted them to this fact and they just bulk refunded everyone.

Remember also that as soon as a human becomes involved in support, it costs a company a lot of money. It's in everyone's best interest for their support to take pre-emptive action across the user base to reduce call volume.

Palitera4116d ago

Slightly off, but... How much does it cost?

Looks like PlayStation took a hit with Marathon and is now quietly adjusting prices worldwide to recover the losses

andy8523d ago

Lets be honest raising prices doesn't do that when no one's buying it. I imagine the profit it greater selling 10 times more at a lower price

Pergele23d ago

Whatever you say buddy, let's all wear the tinfoil hats.

IceKoldKilla23d ago (Edited 23d ago )

LMFAO Your comment alone says a lot more about you than anything else. When has one game not selling 10 million copies made a company raise the prices of their console? Then Xbox would be costing $5000 by now lol. You remind of the crazy drug addicts on the street rambling on about conspiracies. xD You sure you don't need a hug, buddy?

ChunkyMonk23d ago

One game that Sony payed $200 million for. lol
Also, you sure were quick to get triggered. Maybe your the one who needs a hug?

Eonjay22d ago

If nothing else, we should be united against the real issue here. AI and unnecessary tariffs that are effecting all gamers.

Athlon10123d ago (Edited 23d ago )

The price increases are due to the RAM demand associated with AI and the US-Iran war. You can look to any business news website and local news to see that. Heck, even the 2026 Asus Zenbook Duo I've been eyeing has faced delays and has had a price increase of $400; that laptop has two specs. Asus is doing a staggered release with per-orders for the lower spec now and shipping in May and pre-orders for the higher spec that I'm eyeing starting in June. Basically, all computer manufactures are affected. It'll most likely start affecting smart phones too if it hasn't already. I can't remember the last time any major console maker (Nintendo, Sony, Sega, etc) increased the price of their console mid cycle outside of Microsoft just to make more profit.

S2Killinit22d ago

Its not the war. Its the RAM issue.

jznrpg22d ago

War is causing gas prices to rise. Transport of everything requires gas so the prices of those items go up as well. So it does have an impact

Athlon10122d ago (Edited 22d ago )

The blockage of the Straight of Hormuz due to the US-Iran war has affected raw components used in semi-conductor manufacturing such as bromine, aluminum, and helium. Iran had attacked the liquified natural gas (LNG) plant in Qatar which is a large producer (1/3 globally) of helium which is used in semiconductor etching. So it's the both the war and the RAM crises.

badz14923d ago

Oh no...should I get the Pro now before the price increase?

I dont think that'll ever happen. But i must say back in the day, they were definitely trying because they were more cash rich than their competitors.

CosmicTurtle36d ago

I think MS were and still are the richer company. They tried to acquire Sega back in the day (and considered doing so again more recently), they obviously bought exclusivity to Halo which was originally shown as a Mac title. I don’t think as a company MS can claim the moral high ground here. It’s a wilful lack of self awareness.

Of course Sony would try exactly the same if they had the resources, but when the PS2 dominated the industry was in a much healthier place with an abundance of great third parties.

This has been a depressing generation as far as first party decisions are concerned. The fact we are debating business plans rather than which game is better is a sad reflection of the state of things.

Darkseeker36d ago (Edited 36d ago )

There was Nintendo as well, Sony wouldn't have had a monopoly. In fact, the world would be better today if Xbox never existed in the first place. They pretty much brought all bad practices we have today. We might have gotten all of it either way, but not this early. In term of franchises, I don't think there is anything Microsoft released that would actually be missed if it didn't exist. Even Halo the world wouldn't notice if Halo didn't exist.

S2Killinit36d ago

MS was definitely a bad influence on gaming.

raWfodog36d ago

I think almost everyone will agree that a monopoly is not good for the industry. But that being said, the competition needs to be smart and strategic with their business. Simply buying up publishers and traditional third-party studios just to keep them out of the other companies reach is not a sustainable practice. That goes for all parties so don't think I'm just referring to Xbox.

I'm no business guru by any stretch of the imagination but I firmly believe that the best way to drive consumers to your software and hardware is to invest smart in your first-party studios. Give them full support and guidance in making unique, fun games that are only available to play in your ecosystem and the gamers will come.

Reaper22_36d ago (Edited 36d ago )

But first party studios aren't enough. They only make up a small portion of the industry. Without 3rd party there would be no industry for Microsoft or sony.Developing games take time and money and sometimes you gotta make moves to stay competitive.

raWfodog36d ago

Nah, I never said first-party was enough. I said it’s the ‘best way’ to drive gamers to your platform. 3rd-party is a free-for-all and there’s no guarantee that gamers will use your hardware to play the game. If you want to push your own software and/or hardware you need first-party, or at least exclusive deals with third-party studios.

SimpleDad36d ago

They Shure did a great job... 25 years later Xbox is dead.

Reaper22_36d ago

Then why be so emotional and continue to talk about it. Xbox will never die be ause it stays in so many people's head.

lodossrage36d ago

How can you even see him being "emotional" in that comment?

If anything, you're the emotional one, constantly trying to go at anyone that says anything against Microsoft. So when you call him emotional, it comes off as deflection

Elda36d ago

I own an XBSX & I can say it's becoming irrelevant out of the 3 current consoles.
