Very impressive, future doesn't look so lame after all.

Eldyraen3995d ago

It never looked lame.

However what students/artists can accomplish rarely has anything to do with what the developer/publisher allows so its all moot in a sense anyways.

I still liked the vid though for the same reason I like any form of art.

The magic word is Indies, once they leap from Indies into full fleshed studios, gaining fame and respect.

Naughty Dog, Rockstar, Bioware, etc. show that from small beginnings come great things.

Don't be so negative.

Edit: Just noticed that everyone who has something to say positive, gets disagrees. We are going nowhere being this negative. smh

Mega24- Believe it or not, but it's indie studios that are the ones doing the most groundbreaking and revolutionary advancements in video games, and always have been. Just look at games like Star Citizen, The Vanishing of Ethan Carter, and No Man's Sky. Small indie studios can only make a name for themselves by stepping outside the box and taking big risks that big corporate-run developers shy away from. The big players in the industry continually stamp out cookie-cutter games every year to rake in profits and care little about innovation. They typically only step up their game when they are threatened by some upstart indie developer who upsets the status quo.
Historically it was the small indie developers like Origin Systems (Ultima series, wing commander), Sierra (Kings Quest, etc) Maxis (SimCity, Sims, etc), Valve (Half Life, etc), and id (Doom) who changed gaming in huge ways, not developers making exclusives directly for console manufacturers. The road of innovation was plowed by these indie studios and was then followed by everyone else.

90% of this is sculptures in ZBrush. It's all stuff that can be done now, at least on high end PCs. The simulations, specifically smoke, gives me hope for some good gameplay uses.
