WTF?! The video quality's so bad you can't see much difference between any version.

NuggetsOfGod4095d ago (Edited 4095d ago )

They need to do a frame rate analysis and realise pc should be left out of this..

Unless it's a mid range pc.

kstap334095d ago

If they need to do a frame rate analysis to tell the difference between the platforms, then clearly there is not enough difference to even bother.

lemoncake4095d ago

Why a mid range PC? If you are a regular gamer then over the course of a console gen you will spend more money on a console than if you went out now and bought a high end pc and used it over the same period. When you get a console its like getting a loan with each game charging you 40% more than the pc equivalent, with pc you pay straight up.

Love Dying Light, it's pretty intense. But, I find it weird that the PS4 version has stuttering and noticeable frame drops in areas that are hardly busy or graphically intense ...yet seems to run a solid 30fps in areas packed with NPC's and/or Zombies?

Poorly optimized I think ;/

SeanScythe4095d ago (Edited 4095d ago )

Does your PS4 have an X on it somewhere? Because the only time mine has dipped in framerate is the spot by the power station with the 80+ zombies on screen while playing with 3 friends in coop. And that was because we all started throwing Molotovs at the same time.

MasterCornholio4095d ago

Someone playing the PC version said the same thing. I think its an issue across all systems.

windblowsagain4095d ago

Strange you say that.

This game has already been tested and the XBOXONE version slows down and tears a lot of the time.

marlinfan104095d ago (Edited 4095d ago )

I've had a few instances where you can tell the frames drop in the same types of scenarios you mentioned. Not really a big deal though

@sean

What a joke your reply is. I've seen people on every platform say the same things. no one's trying to trash your precious console

IGiveHugs2NakedWomen4095d ago (Edited 4095d ago )

It isn't the PS4 that has noticeable frame rate drops and screen tearing.

https://www.youtube.com/wat...

"Performance compared on both consoles. It's clear that the PS4 version holds the upper hand here, with a much more consistent frame-rate and lower levels of screen-tear."

http://www.eurogamer.net/ar...

"On PlayStation 4, the frame-rate remains very stable but there are instances where performance jumps momentarily above 30fps, introducing judder. Essentially, in a number of less demanding sections, such as the separate underground quests or when simply looking towards the sky while standing on a high perch, we note plenty of lurches as the *frame-rate jumps over 30fps for just a split-second.* It hurts the fluidity of the experience in these situations and we hope it's addressed in a future patch."

"On Xbox One, tearing appears in conjunction with GPU-taxing elements such as foliage, smoke, and dynamic lighting. Running near an open flame with smoke billowing out or through any foliage-dense fields triggers torn frames that impact fluidity. It crops up more than our initial tests suggested and definitely impacts the overall consistency of the experience. To cut a long story short, we recommend avoiding the Xbox One version of Dying Light if you have trouble getting on with screen-tear."

Mr. Sayed, your videos suck.

Brisco4095d ago

He again. The one and only.

ShottyGibs4094d ago

Seems more like you're trying to convince yourself.

MasterCornholio4094d ago

I dont mind if gamingbolt does comparisons but I agree with you that they really need to improve them. Eurogamer in my opinion is a much better source than them.

Unfortunate that the quality of the video itself is so low you can't tell the difference of the versions themselves.

LifeInNZ4095d ago

Does it really matter though since those with a PS4 will likely get it for the PS4, those with an X1 will likely get it for the X1, etc. The only thing these comparisons seem to serve is:
1. Fuelling fanboy rhetoric.
2. Detrimentally impacting sales by putting people off as "their" version falls short of the others.

What we have and will continue to have this generation is a situation where PC > PS4 > X1. Differences between PS4 and X1 will only be really noticable when you sit them side by side and the djffrences between console and PC versions will get wider and wider.

BallsEye4094d ago

Damn all of you kids for counting the pixels. Because of you we are stuck in last gen with increased resolution. I want better simulation, worlds that are more believable, amazing ai etc. Instead we are going backwards with gameplay (example, oblivion vs skyrim) for the sake of few pixels and effects.

NerdStalker4094d ago

Oh yea if it were Xbox One with the superior resolution bla bla bla it would be a major deal to you. The games can have better ai, better simulation and on Ps4 they can have 1080p so get over it.

kenwonobi4095d ago

Yeah I am not gonna comment one way or the other on which looks better. When it would make me look stupid since you cant tell the difference if the video looks so bad.

ironmonkey4095d ago

pc is pretty bad as well even with high end cards. whenever you look at the safe house building it always gets choppy. same with bf hardline and its micro stutters. any game with a big environment is gonna have problems unless absolutely nothing moves or renders in the background but that would never happen of course.

I knew holding off playing it for 10 years was the right call.

ocelot07295d ago

I remember playing this for the first time on the PS4 and it knocking me sick and hurting my eyes due to the horrible motion blur and FPS.

Played it a lot on pc a year later. Then again on ps5 once they dropped the 60fps update. I'll be giving it another go. Mad how they have kept updating this game for 10 years.

Ten Years Later - Still Going Strong: Dying Light: Retouched Update Releasing June 26

Hey Survivors! Tymon here, your favorite Dying Light Franchise Director.

It's been an absolutely wild month here at Techland! We're in the thick of what I'm calling the "Summer of Dying Light," delivering updates and big news across all three Dying Light games. Just a few weeks ago, we dropped the first gameplay for Dying Light: The Beast, revealed its release date, and kicked off pre-orders (if you haven't seen it, check out my last dev blog). I'm incredibly proud of what we're building with The Beast - it’s the culmination of more than 10 years of experience in open-world survival horror!

But here's the thing: we never forget where we came from. That's why, this week, we're not just looking forward - we're rolling out significant updates for both the original Dying Light and Dying Light 2: Stay Human. We promised to support our games for a long time, and we're committed to continuing that support, right through and beyond the launch of Dying Light: The Beast.

Looking Back At The $386,000 Dying Light 'My Apocalypse Edition', 10 Years Later

It has been more than ten years since Dying Light was released, but what happened to the $386,000 'My Apocalypse Edition' of the game?

Nobody bought it for an obvious reason.

Gamingsince1981425d ago

Wtf did this edition come with ? A real helicopter and a real zombie virus ?

Vithar425d ago

For one lucky person willing to spend $386,000, the My Apocalypse Edition of Dying Light promised a staggering collection. It included the buyer’s face in the game, a human-sized ‘Volatile’ statue, and parkour lessons with a freerunning team. It also came with night vision goggles, an all-expenses paid round trip to Techland’s offices, and four signed copies of the game. Oh, and it also came with a custom-built, ‘zombie-proof’ survival shelter.

LOL but it was a stunt from the team:
‘It was a PR stunt and got a lot of media attention for its wild and over-the-top nature, it was designed to generate buzz around the game’s release. It did a great job of getting the game noticed, though! But nobody purchased it – thankfully, I guess!’
