TeamXbox writes: "Gears of War 2 might be the most anticipated Xbox 360 game of the year, and not only were we lucky enough to get some real hands-on time playing the game, but we also got to sit down with Epic's notorious Creative Director Cliff Bleszinski to talk about the inspiration behind some of the new features and the overall direction of the series:
Q: An early tagline for Gears of War 2 was "Bigger, Better, more Badass." Now you're describing it as "more epic, more personal." What do you mean by that?
Cliff Bleszinski: "More epic" in regards to the battles, but also in regards to the scope of the problem that's going on, as far as humanity's back being against the wall. They're in this spot they've holed up on called Jacinto that's roughly the size of Manhattan and is threatened with complete collapse. Since the best defense is a good offense, The COG has to launch this full scale attack against the Locust and actually go down underground to where they live and take them out. And of course stop whatever the hell is sinking these cities and put a stop to it. It's quite the huge task for humanity.
But at the same time in the midst of all that, Dom has his personal quest (to find his wife). Yes he has his duty to humanity, but he also has his responsibility to his wife and to finding out where she is. So those two things are kind of the bookends to that."
Ayi Sanchez: "Old work. I did this 10 years ago now as part of a material test for a remaster of Gears of War 2 that never happened."
Weird, in mean they had no studios to make anything really new so there's a part of me thats kinda glad they scrapped it. If they released this back then it would of gotten ridiculed for remakes and remastering stuff. Now they have new and interesting games so the collection is harmless.
Geez, Xbox, something like that I would’ve bought Day 1. Great business decisions over there.
10 years ago it wasn’t such a big deal. The games were only a few years old by that point
Gears of War: Ultimate Edition came out in 2015 (essentially 10 years ago), having a follow-up to that on the then next-gen console would’ve absolutely been welcomed, in my book.
I can only assume the the Gears of War Remaster flopped so they decided to scrap the other remakes?
Seems short sighted to me as I really enjoyed the 1st remaster. Regardless, I'll snap up some remakes to play on my PS5.

Gears of War is my favorite video game franchise, and the Locust is my all-time favorite faction.

Agree 100% with this ranking. The campaign in Gears of War 2 is among the most fun campaigns ever made. It’s been downhill from there.
2 is still my favorite but 5 is also up there (for me). Then I'd say 1, 3, 4 and Judgement. Tactics isnt the same type of game, so it seems odd to rank it among TPS when its a strategy game. So I make that one all its own. Pretty fun game too.
The first is and has always been the best one imo - the story, the levels, the set pieces, the soundtrack - as close to perfect as a campaign can get.
I’d say the series had been on a continual downhill slide until 5.

Judgement
I love the series as a whole, but 4 was pretty by the numbers, and Judgement was just ok.
I played them all since picking up a Series X about 7 months ago. Personally, I don't think time has been kind to the earlier games and they feel very slow and repetitive to play. Whilst the newer games may be prettier, they stick with the original gameplay mechanics too much in my view so as a whole series of titles, I think they are pretty average games.
Not to say they weren't fun and I have a lot of nostalgia for 1 and 2, I just think there are far better action games out there.
What's the best Gears of War game for players? Where to start? This guide should easily lend a hand.
It's brilliant but personally liked part one more. It's the only one that had a near horror movie vibe to it in parts, the atmosphere was amazing.

Mad World was such a perfect song for that trailer. I loved part 1 too just because it was so fresh at the time. The series has been solid, but experiencing everything for the first time was pretty awesome.
Gears of War 2 has one of the greatest campaigns of all time. Carmine, all that juice, fighting inside a giant worm, and riding monsters.
Gears 1 and 2 will always be my favorite Gears titles. The scene where Dom find his wife and then has to shoot her was an epic scene.
I always found that scene laughably bad myself. Fantastic game though.
1 will always be my favourite. Most were great with the exception of 4 being okay and judgement being terrible.
They still have the most satisfying headshots from any multiplayer game around.

Gears Of War is my favorite video game franchise. I can’t imagine how Gears 6 will look in UE5 after watching Hellblade 2 gameplay trailer
There is a rumored Marcus Fenix collection (Gears 2 & 3 remake) in the works at the Coalition. Hopefully, it’s true, but I doubt it.
For me you can't beat gears 1 the original was so fresh and revolutionary at the time.

Played them all recently on gamepass. Great games. But my favorites gotta be gears tactics. Don’t know why. I just had a blast with it lol

Poor Xbots
Poor Xbots, keep thinking Smears of War 1.5 looks great, once again, it tricks the eye it does, I'm talking about the sequal and the original. Poor Xbots, what he just say? "the best defense is a good offense? Poor Xbots, rofl, try doing that in a real life war, lots and lots of your teammates will be killed. Poor Xbots, Naruto for PS3 wil be better than this crap.

Epic's Gears of War 2 is shaping up to be one of the most ambitious exclusives to hit the Xbox 360 this year and a strong candidate for game of the year. I for one am looking forward to this fantastic addition to Microsoft's platform. I know I'll be jumping in.
With the release of Gears of War 2 these holidays the Xbox 360s domination over its inferior rival the PS3 will undoubtedly continue. Gears of War 2 will be the number one selling title these holidays, easily selling well over 5 million copies while the PS3 will struggle to sell games over 1 million copies due to an overall lack of consumer enthusiasm for Sony's calamitous platform.
Sony's laughable answer to the Gears of War 2 juggernaut will be releasing a mediocre sequel to a mediocre launch title, Resistance. The first title was absolute garbage with horrible graphics and it looks like the sequel will be continuing this tradition with another mediocre attempt by Sony to make something comparable to the AAA titles on the Xbox 360, but imitation won't get them anywhere as Resistance will be a critical and financial flop like all of Sony's PS3 titles.
Another year gone by and another year of domination of the Xbox 360 over the PS3, what a great time we live in and a great time to Jump In on the Xbox 360.
