In his semi-weekly column in Weekly Famitsu, Smash Bros. series creator Masahiro Sakurai addressed fan letters. One such letter focused on the toll developing the latest games has taken on him.
Wrote the fan, "Hello, Mr. Sakurai. It sounds like development of Smash Bros. was really, really hard. Reading your column sent shivers up my spine. I've never seen you so worn out. It made me appreciate the new Smash Bros. more than ever."
Sakurai, responded in frank honesty:
"It was very tough this time around... I doubt I'll be able to go on making games if it continues like this. But, I consider myself lucky that so many people seem to enjoy [Smash Bros.]"

Nintendo allegedly let Masahiro Sakurai work on his passion project, Kirby Air Riders, in order to convince him to direct another Smash Bros.
wow ha.
hes literally the creator of Kirby and responsible for one of the biggest fighter games we have, amd nintendo is like "oh ... well if u wanna make a new Kirby game, u need to make a new smash too"
i can see it ha.
Game developer Hideki Kamiya talks about Bayonetta in the Smash Bros. games.

Kirby and Super Smash Bros. creator Masahiro Sakurai revealed that the game project he referenced in his final YouTube video last October was Kirby Air Riders.
If it is his last game, Nintendo will just ask someone else to make the next one. Too big of an IP for Nintendo to let go because Sakurai is done.
Hopefully, the next guy will do the job right. Put adventure mode back and stop putting clones in every games.
If you haven't noticed, most of the big japanese game devs says this. Kojima has said this since MGS2. It's now 7 or 8 games later.
i hope not.. This decline in game sales are due to so many publishers rushing broken games out & mobile phone/tablet titles all over the place.. im sticking with my dedicated handhelds/consoles unless they cease to exist
