I will wait for Digital Foundry to publish their findings. The Developers of this game came out and said that they are still working on getting the 1080p setting for the XB1 version. Plus I dont like this set up they are using. There is no telling what the gamma settings are, TV settings are and so on. Digital Foundry will be the go to for me when it comes to the resolution and FPS issue. They proved that COD AW ran better in single player than the PS4 version and that PS4 Multi player ran better than XB version.

Either way the differences are subtle and should not ruin the experience for anyone who buys this game on whatever system the choose. I agree with Flame above. Just buy it for the system you like. After seeing how good GTA V looked on XB1 I doubt I will be disappointed in the way this games looks on it.

Same thing we've been arguing about for the last year? Superior on PC. slightly better on ps4, but nothing you would notice unless they were side by side.

Looks like they kept their promise about taking advantage of each systems strength.

Anyways I'm sure the game runs fine on both consoles.

It looks incredible and runs well on all three platforms. Getting the PS4 version at launch. I'll probably get the PC version later on, during a Steam sale.

Improvement for XB1 either way because if I remember correctly at one point it was at 720p - I could be wrong. Not the end of the world either way if you get it for XB1 - 900p will still look great. I will pick it up for my PS4 and enjoy the game for what it is.

Last I heard it was 900p on both consoles. Its nice to see they bumped up the PS4 version to 1080, they might be able to do the same with the X1. The game hasn't gone gold yet. I would have preferred 60fps at 900p than 30fps at 1080 though.

I think we need to push framerate more than graphics as the games already look good. I don't need to see each individual arm hair when there is choppy framerates.

1920 x 1080 = 2,073,000 pixels.

A difference of 633,000 pixels. It's running at a 30% reduced resolution from what it should be.

This might not be 4k levels of difference like a PC can aim for... but would you take more or less for your money? But whatever, the game will be epic at any resolution :)

PC is the only way to play this game if you want the full experiance, and thats how its going to remain all gen long for multiplatform games with the gap getting wider and wider each year. Really sad that this console gen is getting so easily beat by pc straight out the gate, all console manufacturers really cheaped out this gen.

I will buy the version with the better frame-rate, even if there is a difference of 2 frames per second i will buy that version, simple as that, resolution means nothing to me.

No $400 PC will be able to come close to running Witcher 3 at 1080P\30FPS unless you get some of the sickest deals ever on the hardware. Recommended Vid card for Witcher 3 is HD 7870 which goes for about 200$ alone. I have a high end PC and a PS4 and preordered copies of Witcher 3 for both (getting collectors edition for PS4) so i don't have an allegiance in this matter either way. I will be blasting it on PC but my rig cost $1,200

Originally planned for 900p 60fps and higher textures for ps4 but Sony demands 1080p so the texture quality and framerate was lowered to get 1080p.

Now TW3 doesn't even match up to the Pc version on High settings. At 900p the ps4 version was Pc on high but because 1080p is so brainwashing important this gen framerates and texture quality were sacrificed.

I see all this sony fanboy trolling, saying xbox has no games. I find it ironic it's on a witcher 3 post, cause last I remember the witcher 2 wasn't on ps4 and the original is pc exclusive. Now don't get me wrong I own all platforms and enjoy uncharted and some other ps4 exclusives. I just prefer xboxs lineup and they tend to have more stuff suited for me. I've had a ps4 since launch and have played 3 games 2 of them were mediocre and 1 was a remake. Killzone, infamous, tlou. What you prefer as a gamer is your preference! The game isn't even out yet and this very article even says the specs aren't final. Projekt RED said they are targeting 1080p for both platforms and i wouldn't be surprised if that is the case at launch.

I have a PS4 and an Xbox One.. even with lower resolution and textures i will be getting it for xbox one. Why? I have no idea. I waited a full year after the ps4 to get an xbox one. And i seriously like them both equally. I just feel as though i like the xbox achievement system/ dashboard more. And the controller. I think the PS4 controller is amazing but feel at home with the xbox controller. And by getting multi platforms games for the xbox, I'm not ditching my ps4 at all because of the amazing exclusives the ps4 has coming. I mean its a win/win. Im tired of these articles about resolutions and comparing the two.

Well isn't this a contentious article , I've never seen so many hidden comments lol. Seems like there's 2 subects that get the fanboys going, framerate and resolution. And the one thing that really gets the xbox fans going, knowing that the PS4 wins in both departments.

I was interested in this game but after see gameplay im gonna pass. Too many games are coming out in 2015 I can't be throwing money at every game that interest me. Maybe in a few years I'll pick this up cause it does look good but not worth $60.

I'm glad I got a ps4. Could have built a PC BUT seeing the requirements for this title makes me glad I didnt. I would have had to spend 700 to play it on a PC which would have yielded a few frames a second more if that. It doesn't surprise me to see the resolution lag on the weaker xbox. Does it surprise anyone else?

So the PS4 version has "slightly less sharper textures than the PC on high". This is the same load of crap I was fed when I was expecting the PS4 version of Planet Side 2 would be equal to the PC's ultra, and the same straight up lies that Bioware spewed when they said the PC and PS4's Dragon Age would be similar to high.

WHY IS THIS STILL AN ISSUE? the X1 has the bigger advantage because it will offload computations to the cloud, has a faster memory system and a incredible useful and easy to develop, really nifty 32mb of special memory... On top of this, it will be updated to DX12 wich will make this game run at 2k@120fps :)

Seriously tho, we know the ps4 is the stronger machine, stop pretending it isn't and the differences don't matter. It's OK to say: the ps4 version will be better, smoother, more beautiful and vibrant, but I will buy the x1 version because I only have 1 console, or whatever reason might work for you. Just don't dismiss the truth.

I look at it like this, even if this game was 4k what makes you think that would make the game any different it just mean the game would look more crisp not meaning the gameplay will change nor fix any bugs that my ruin the game from the get go just saying. bugs has been this gens worst night mare but im sure these guys know what there doing.

When you play a game on PC and switch the resolution from 720 to 900 and then to 1080 the differences can be clearly seen. The higher the resolution, the sharper the image. And this is not even on a TV screen. So if you have a choice get the PS4 version.

Obviously if you only have one console then there is nothing to compare it against. Fact remains though the game costs the same on both platforms, and one platform was more expensive at launch.... You decide where you would like to play it. The better console version is the PS4's

Whats funny is gamers that have both consoles saying that are going to buy the inferior version.

I’ll say this. Cyberpunk had a tumultuous start on console. Even if it had sold like crazy, that whole almost unplayable fiasco and being given no questions asked refunds made a lot of people not look back.
When it comes to PC, people are a lot more forgiving of things like that, especially on Steam, because of the return policy. I really think console manufacturers should implement the exact same refund policy. Was it played under X time? Refund it. It makes people take that risk on games a LOT more than on console. Bought this game and it was broken? Refund it. They said they fixed it 3 months later? Buy it again. It’s fixed but just not fun? Refund it. On console you don’t have that luxury. Was it downloaded? GG. No refund. Lord knows my Steam library is full of “I’ll try it” games that I loved and I’m glad I can take a rush on. On console, specifically PlayStation because I’m not buying Xbox games, I take calculated risk. Known developers. Shinobi, Ninja Gaiden ragebound, stuff like that. Obviously big exclusives and games too. I would have never tried Little Bookstore on PlayStation, but on Steam… why not? Hellish Quart? Why not. Buckshot Roulette? Why not.
