Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater Retro Reflection

Illiya from Awesome Games writes: 'Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater is the game that changed everything for me. Its incredibly deep storyline, unexpected humour and survivalist stealth-action gameplay is the pinnacle of true happiness and my favourite instalment in the Metal Gear series so far. And yet, even though I’ve completed it countless times, I still get the urge to play it again and again.'

ive been wanting to rebuy MGS3 on vita but digitally. subsistance was such a good game!

AwesomegamesUK4036d ago

You should! It works surprisingly well on the Vita and it's great to have Snake on the move!

i know i bought it physically when it first came out. it's So good i need to play through it again and have it digitally so i can Never get rid of it! : D.

2 was great but i can live with out it tbh.

just bought the Jak collection. man i'm in heaven atm.

AwesomegamesUK4036d ago

Yeah, I had a physical copy too and you're right: digital is better so you can just pop on and off whenever you like!

How is the Jak collection? They're great games but I heard the port suffers from a few performance hiccups on vita?

PoSTedUP4036d ago (Edited 4036d ago )

indeed. digital is better.

and get the collection, trust me. idk what people are talking about. you know how ppl are this gen... one missing blade of grass and the whole game is s*** and they rage at the developers and sign petitions etc. f-ing ridiculous!

it's playing nicely and looks great so far. ive read on the forums that people are very happy with it too and i'm one of them :). if there are hiccups i'm sure they are minor and not anywhere near game breaking. it shouldnt be missed imo.

same with borderlands 2, but there are noticeable hiccups in it; but the game is so big and so good they are easily dismissed imo. it's borderlands 2 on the go for christ sakes lol. what do ppl expect that vita to run it like the ps3? but i do say it does run a lot of ports near PS3 quality, graphics and everything. borderlands2 i guess is too big to be one of them.

AwesomegamesUK4036d ago

Haha, that's so true. This generation really has created pixel counters and frame rate analyzers everywhere! It seems like people only buy games based on Digital Foundry verdicts instead of reviews or what their friends recommend. It's maddening!

PoSTedUP4036d ago

yeah i almost didnt buy the Jak collection bc of what ppl were saying. it's good and im glad i got it.

Basically, snake eater is one of the best games ever! Throw it on the Vita.... its epic!

Did they really skip Shadow of the Colossus? I would definitely swap Dark Cloud for that.

Killzone 1
Black
FF12
GT4
Jak 3
SSX
MGS2
God of war 2

Too much greatness on this console.

Venoxn4g393d ago

I could argue that MGS3 looks even better than MGS2

Cacabunga393d ago

Veno

It does, but MGS2 tanker presentation was ahead of everything we could imagine.

phatak394d ago

god of war 2 looked better than most of the launch games, just like last of us 1 ,kz2 and god of war 3 looking better than a bunch of launch ps4 games, and kz2 for reason looks just as good in 2024, that game had some black magic

Cacabunga394d ago

Agreed. I sometimes watch multiplayer videos of it. Best FPS i have ever played. It’s the game that initiated me to the genre. It has a special place in my all time favorite top3

You're not gonna include Ratchet and Clank Up Your Arsenal or Jak 3 on that list? Just change it to Fall 2004 Releases and include the masterpiece that is Sly 2.
