The 15 Best Solid Snake Quotes

Solid Snake is a man of few words. When he does talk, his sentences often consists of repeating something he just heard about or saw in a questioning manner. But at the same time, he is also a character with a surprising capacity for self-reflection, his own ideas about morality, and, from time to time, a philosopher’s attitude. These qualities are displayed in the following fifteen quotes, that expose Snake's personality or show his beliefs about the world.

His most memorable line for me, was his conversation with Otacon near the end of MGS 4. When he brought up switching discs again. That was hilariously genius.

Switching discs? Which MGS game was that? Do you not mean switching controller ports? Sorry just curious, never heard about the disc thing.

Nyxus4124d ago

It was in MGS4, Act 4 (a joke referring to the original game, where you had to switch discs at the same point).

No worries, in Metal Gear Solid 1, Otacon talks to Snake about having to switch discs after you beat Sniper Wolf. So, in Metal Gear Solid 4, near the end of the game he talks to Otacon about needing to switch discs. That's when he mentions they have blu-ray discs now, and there's no need for switching anymore.

@Nyxus

Thanks! I completely forgot about that part.

@Snookies12

Oh, wow! Yeah I remember that now. Can't believe I forget about it actually.

Thanks for the explanation :)

after the second sniper wolf battle the next section of the game requires a dis change in the original mgs.

at the same point in mgs4, there was a joke about switching discs and bluray being big enough to hold the data.

switching controller was when you fought with that psychic boss with the 2 dolls. was it screaming mantis? if i remember correctly, if you switch controller there would be a codec call joking about how you cant move and needing to use controller port one to actual control snake. memories a little blurred but it was something along those lines.

There is a switching controller port joke in mgs4 when you fight screaming mantis.

Hey Nyxus, do you remember when Snake yelled at Meryl to just "Shoot, don't think". THAT was such a true statement, because I played it as a teen and would keep losing the shootout that Snake & Meryl had in the corridor against the other soldiers, until I finally decided to keep shooting qnd not overfocus.

My favorite quote made the list!

"I’m a shadow, one that no light will shine on. As long as you follow me, you will never see the day."

EDIT:

I loved the exchange between he and Otacon as someone above mentioned as well.

"Snake! You forgot these!"

"Hm...no, thanks. I'm quitting."

"Snake..."

"These things'll kill ya!"

hkgamer4124d ago

loved snake and otacon. they had brilliant codec conversations, especially in mgs2.

peace walker had huey and big boss but that relationship felt really cheap.

Gatsu4124d ago

I knew someone was gonna post this :D.

NarooN4124d ago

MGS4 man... Really need to play it again. As silly and convoluted and outright ridiculous as Metal Gear's plots usually are, you just gotta love the characters and dialogue.

CobraKai4124d ago

For some reason one quote that gave me goosebumps was when he yelled at Solidus; "NO!! That is not Solid Snake!" The combination of playing as Raiden and knowing Pliskin is Snake just made that single line all the more badass.

Konami Delists Some Metal Gear Games From Digital Stores Without Warning

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots and Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker HD have been delisted from digital stores without warning.

cloganart74d ago

I mean, it makes sense. With Vol.2 coming and all that

Commentby74d ago

Stupid headline. Should state that they are being updated or discontinued. This makes the crazy people that only read headlines think it some kind of conspiracy to take away peoples already purchased games.

jjb198174d ago

If you want to all of a sudden own them now and haven't played them yet because a remastered is coming out, shame on you. I can't believe people are complaining about this 15 years later when it was bound to happen anyway. "A new remaster is out, quick, I'd better buy the original from the shop."

Gamers: "Physical? who needs physical? everyone knows that digital online games are the future. stop living in the past. we don't need no stinking disc drive"

Same gamers: "How dare the delist a digital game that I own!!!!"

computeSci73d ago (Edited 73d ago )

And? What is your point?

Same gamers: "How dare the retailers to delist (quit selling) a physical game that I own!!!!"

I think you just read the headline and don't know how dilisting works with Sony. It's common knowledge that:

"Players who already bought the games will still have them in their library and can download and play them as usual."

So again, what is your point?

Hideo Kojima admits Metal Gear Solid motion capture was “trial and error”

Hideo writes: "We experimented with magnetic motion capture in "Metal Gear Solid: Integral", and in MGS2, we adopted optical motion capture for the first time. Was the shooting done about 25 years ago? Well, back then, everything was trial and error, but every day felt fresh and exciting."
