Watching companies like EA bring classic series back to life makes me wish my favorite game series would just STAY retired, sometimes.

After watching my favorite 3D open world platformer duo building cars and racing, AOE turned into a F2P, and one of my other favorite open world 3D platformers turned into one of those "toys as DLC" games I...I... *Sniff* I need a moment.

guitarded774157d ago

No way... Star Wars Battlefront has to live. After going an entire gen without it, I wouldn't care if Activision made it.

PS: Article is pure click bait with no information.

Wenis4157d ago

Yeah. Been waiting almost a decade for this game...

"Whatever we will see will be awesome", "It is very difficult to speculate".

Edit:
Are those the mentioned features?

It's worse when EA kills awesome Brands, that have so much potential, such as Mercenaries, Command & Conquer.

I thought the force sensitive heroes in the last entry handled terribly. Only one that was worth anything was Darth Maul. Here's hoping they have a better control scheme after ten years and a few Force Unleashed games.

JEECE4157d ago

I'd prefer they get rid of playable heroes. The great thing about the first Battlefront was that you were a grunt on the ground with the same specs as every other soldier. Playable heroes wreck the balance of the game. Playing as an overpowered Jedi/Sith is what the Force Unleashed games are for.

Wenis4157d ago

I think if they get rid of playable heroes in normal conquest matches, thats fine, but at least have a heroes-only mode again like in SWBF2.

lipton1014157d ago

I really hope it's good (and finished), because if it is, considering it'll be coming out just before "The Force Awakens", it'll make a KILLING in sales. So many people, gamers and non gamers (casual) alike are super excited for the movie, so I can see broad appeal if done well.

it's DICE... What can go wrong ;)

@Wobblypopz actually Battlefront 2 had a first person mode.

@shloobmm3

I loved Republic Commando! I completely forgot about that.

* It's not the worked that worry me. They probably worship Star Wars and want to do their best.

* It's the Leadership, the management that worries me.

I feel somebody "higher up" in the company is going to push things that only He/She wants, and has nothing to do with Star Wars at all.

Perjoss4157d ago

I'm pretty sure no matter what state its in it will most likely be released around the same time as or just before the Star Wars movie in December.

This game will be awesome! I really hope they take their time wih this one, and dont just halfass it while working on BF5.

lotta4157d ago

I could live with a BF5 Clone, But I think they will mix in elements from Titanfall

Shnooze4157d ago

That doesn't sound good at all..

T2X4157d ago

I don't think it will be half assed at all considering the amount of resources they have been given access to by Lucas Arts and company.

Double_O_Revan4157d ago

You do not know the power of EA's dark side....

kamper4157d ago

Do we know anything about the budget on this game?

Kavorklestein4157d ago

EA and Disney.
So basically huge.

aliengmr4157d ago

Well, LucasArts was barely getting by. EA was behind the SWTOR budget and 1313 was a pipe dream. The existence of which was most likely being used to generate buzz for the upcoming sale to Disney at the time, but that's just my opinion.

As for Disney, well they like their quick cash-ins, we'll see if actually push for real quality. They certainly can't be any worse that the pre-Disney LucasArts.

Lots of resources does not make good games, if anything history shows the opposite mostly.

lotta4157d ago

I wish EA would show us some actual meat instead of developing in complete secrecy. It makes me believe that they aren't confident about their work.

scark924157d ago

Are they using the Frostbite engine?, I sure hope not, at least tweak it! I do not want to be playing a Star Wars Battlefield game!

I want a sequel to Star Wars Battlefront 2, a game I adored...

On the brightside though at least there is a sequel and I am thankful to DICE for taking on the project! I should stay optimistic!

CorndogBurglar4157d ago

The Battlefront games were already very similar to Battlefield anyway. The very first time i played Battlefront 2 i automatically thought of Battlefield 2.

Capturing control points, every time someone dies the team loses "tickets", the more control points you earn, the faster the enemy's tickets drain, etc.

I dont know if you ever played Battlefield 2 or not, but the only real significant difference was that Battlefront let you switch between 1st and 3rd person views.

LOOK_AT_THIS_I4157d ago

Battlefront was SOCOM with Star Wars skins.

strauser3604157d ago

Honestly I'd rather see battlefront 3 in 3rd person exclusively. How is dice going to animate the lightsaber battles and force powers in first person only? Please dice just have something to show us so we can stop being worried that this game will fail.
