I'll say he's involved in some way. He'll either be the voice of clone snake or a cameo voice. Maybe they have Solid Snake as a DLC character with special missions and interactions? They had the snatcher missions with Raiden in Ground Zeroes.

I'm so lost on the story of the whole metal gear saga.

I never was sold David hayter wouldn't be in this game it just seems too wrong some how..what better way to take away the actor you grew up with replace him with someone else then at the end of it all he comes back! And goes kept you waiting huh..I mean wouldn't that be the most epic thing ever if that happens lol what if you end up playing as solid snake like a remake of metal gear that would blow me away :O

I can see it now, the hidden final chapter will be Solid Snake infiltrating Outer Haven, just like the Paz fight in Peace Walker.

I think he was involved from the beginning. He is the voice of Solid Snake (maybe he will appear at the end of the game) while kiefer is the voice of Big Boss. They can't just let him go like that.

If he does I may actually buy it!

Why do people say Kojima is a "troll?" He could care less about trolling fans, if the concept ever even occured to him. Sounds like a way for a bunch of lonleys to feel closer to someone or some thing.

Kojima's not your friend. He chose crap Keifer because he's trying to Hollywood up like a true sellout. If Hayter's in, unfortunately, it's restricted to cameo.

It's gonna be fun watching Big Boss mess with a young Liquid Snake. The beginning of the inferiority complex.

I don't care if he's involved or not at this point. Sutherland has already ruined the game as well as the CoD jelly and the whole run & gun aspect of the game. Not to mention it's more open so you can just walk around most of the threats to get to where you need to go and then just run & gun to the checkpoint.

If Solid Snake is in this i will lose my shit. Spoilers... Les Enfant Terribles already happened. Could you play as Solid taking out Big Boss, after play as BB for most of the game? This would be unreal!

Pretty cryptic response from David compared to before. But as I have thought all this time is that imo David will be in TPP. In the very end and it will be a nice surprise. They are playing with us :).

TPP will release in few months I hope, but exec only said won't drag on to 2016 because can't reveal more detailed and some fans are worried of delay.

It wouldn't surprise me if the game ends with big boss getting killed by Solid snake, who will be played by david Hayter.

MGS? Cheap ass series.... Bloodborne, God of War 4 and The Last Guardian will beat the crap out of this wannabe kojima productions.

If he was indeed busy with MGS it would've said so on his IMDB page.

As far as I can see it doesnt say ANYTHING about MGS 5.. Just a game called "The Long Dark". Unless their just using old audio files from previous MGS games.

How old would Solid Snake be during this point in the Metal Gear timeline? Solid Snake was born in 1972 and the Phantom Pain takes place in 1984, making Snake around the age of 11 or 12? Is David Hayter going to be voicing a kid, or am I missing some information?

Here's what I think:
We won't see Solid Snake until the very end of the game. The post credits scene will be a remake of MG1's intro scenes with Snake being briefed by Big Boss about infiltrating Outer Heaven, setting up a future remake of MG1 and 2.

At least that's how it happens in my dreams anyway :D

I really hope so, like it or not his voice is the main thing that makes Solid Snake unique, Keiffer sutherland it just sound so average like any other actor. Right now I only want to play MGS5 just because is another MGS and its made by Kojima, past iterations I want to play was cause of those things to but also cause I want to hear Solid's voice, it adds so much to the game.

If you've played MGS5: Ground Zeroes, the Medic character in the helicopter (and in the previews of the hospital scene in Phantom Pain) is a big hint. The "Big Boss" character looks a little off. Same haircut, similar features, but not 100% Big Boss.

But the Medic's face is always obscured from view.

With so many nations on the hunt for him, it makes sense for Big Boss to use a doppelganger. I'm sure we'll see Hayter return.

Whats so special about David Hayter?

When they announced that Keifer Sutherland would be appearing as Big Boss from here on out I knew that David Hayter would eventually return as Solid Snake, might not have been Phantom Pain but eventually.

Not the best comparison, but if David Hayter was kept for both roles it would have sounded like Pewterschmidt and the Doctor in Family Guy having a conversation.

In the time between The Phantom Pain and Metal Gear 1, Solid Snake will be 12 (1984) to 23 (1995) years old. It could be possible if the game jumps forward a bit to bridge the gab between MGSV and Metal Gear 1.
