It's still ludicrous that they didn't include an AC adapter or switch the charging port to a common USB port. Also just adding "New" in front isn't going to help confusion amongst uninformed customers. I could only guess the number of unknowing parents that are going to purchase the wrong system for their children because they didn't check for the "New" in the corner. Luckily, there are few games that will require the "NEW" 3DS and those with an older 3DS won't get boned out of games.

So how do I charge it? I know nothing about 3ds sorry...

I want to get my first 3ds and what better way to jump in then getting the new one.

We all know by now ninty sucks with names lol.

The "New" 3DS is appearing to be marketed to previous 3DS owners as an upgrade, hence the nixing of the adapter. It uses the same adapter to charge that the previous 3DS does. It's ludicrous because it saves Nintendo maybe $10 in component cost, but inconveniences new owners as they have to buy the charger separately.

As far as differences, the major differences are first a more powerful processor that allows the system to boot and run faster than the previous 3DS, future "New" 3DS games will likely take advantage of the extra power.

Second they added NFC (Near Field Communication) support for Amiibo support. Smash Bros is receiving a patch for support.

Third they are using the front facing camera to perform face tracking and adjust the 3D accordingly to avoid the "ghosting" that occurs when the system is not held straight forward.

Lastly, they added a C-Stick on the right side for dual-analog support. The C-Stick is very similar to the "Eraser-head" mouse pointers you find on some laptops in the middle of the keyboard.

okay everyone needs to stop complaining about the new 3ds having no adapter

here: its $3.29 that's less than tree fiddy. if you're making a $200 purchase that shouldn't be much of an issue

Haven't own a nintendo handheld since GBA SP. Looks ok I can wait for a next year for the next nds.

wow I don't know how someone could skip the ds but you should definitely pick this one up. the amount of games that are available right now and those from the ds could keep someone busy for a looong time

Only thing I wanted to play was golden sun 3, now maybe a few other rpgs. Not much else thats wins me over, so like I said I can wait longer.

Fire Emblem Awakening and Zelda Link Between Worlds. That's reason enough right there. Seriously, you should go watch some gameplay and reviews- these are PHENOMENAL games, like, ones people will still be talking about 20 years from now.

And as if Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate wasn't reason enough on it's own, Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate is many times over. And Xenoblade Chronicles 3D.

I could list about 2 dozen games that are all, each and every one of them, reasons to go buy a 3DS. Suffice it to say you would do yourself a great disservice to miss out on the library offered through this platform.

2 and 5 are the same point. And how is locking out millions of 3DS users from playing certain 3DS games a positive? It's not like this is a generational upgrade. It's like saying only people who buy the upcoming NEW WiiU can play the new Zelda game.

4 really? And no, it still looks like a fisher price toy.

what i find interesting is that the article says that the 3ds graphics and such can't compete with the vita (which is technically true) but the 3ds still manage to outsell the vita 9-1 which shows that it's not all about graphics (or that base ;p) but quite simply the games.

Lol 229.99 in Canada for a New 3DS I think it should be 199.99 because it's not a total upgrade when the both screens are at the same res and it's the same old gpu( yes it has more ram in the new 3ds).

Why Nintendo didn't release a new 2DS for around 149.99 and I find it strange when the price of a new Nintendo 3DS XL - Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate is 259.99( in Canada) that's $40 less(doesn't come with a plug in) then a Super Mario 3D World Wii U 32GB Deluxe Console that sells for 299.99 (oh and this comes with a plug in and a extra game too).

At ebgames Canada you can get PlayStation Vita Borderlands 2 Bundle for 199.99( I understand the 3ds have more games and have a lot of third and first party support) and Nintendo is selling the new 3ds for 229.99(29.99 more then a vita).

It's a good upgrade yeah if you own a 2ds or a original 3ds & even then all it does is help Nintendo get the what 50 million who brought a 3ds/3ds xl/2ds buy a new 3ds in hopes they can sell another 50 million too the same people.

One more thing why did they put the second stick that's above the 4 buttons on the right side of the screen for the new 3ds Why not put a actual thumb pad under(they had the room) them like a 360/x1 controller config then it would be easier for long hours of playing.

As a North American 3DS owner I'm still stunned at the amount of content from the Nintendo Direct.

- New 3DS release date
- 2 special editions of New 3DS
- 6 new RETAIL games (not crummy little eShop games)
- Hatsune Miku: Project Mirai DX
- Ace Combat Assault Horizon Legacy +
- Puzzle & Dragons Super Mario Bros.
- Fire Emblem
- Xenoblade Chronicles
- Fossil Fighters Frontier

How often do 6 retail games for a system get announced in the same day outside of E3? And as I've previously stated, all these games are coming out in the 1st half of the year. So E3 will be a whole lot more reveals

As a 2DS owner I'm stunned that I'm being told I need or have too buy a "new 3ds" too play certain games. Why is it selling more then a PlayStation vita in terms of hardware specs the vita is better(yes 3ds have a more game and more 3rd & 1st party support). I don't want too get started about the 2 thumb pads locations( should have been like a 360 controller load out). If they had the NEW 3DS would have had not 1 actual thumb pad and a tiny stick but 2 actual thump pads like a actual controller has these days.

Even better waiting a few months and included a upgraded gpu and sold it as a official successor too the 3ds. If they had then all we would have heard about is how less the 3ds sold compared too the DS.

Sony should sell a vita with no touch sensitive back but give us a second memory slot for micro sd cards(but still include a slot for PlayStation Memory Cards). Bring the screen size down too 4inch but make it oled and slim it down its thickness. Also sell it $40 less then the current vita is selling for.
