I feel it says volumes about who they are selling the New 3DS to: People who already own a 3DS. They assume people interested in the New 3DS already have a charger or multiple ones

Even if i had a 3DS i think i'd want both me 3DS and New 3DS charging beside me with my other devices at night. Cant do that with one charger.

lol i never got a 3DS and am planning on getting a New 3DS.
The fact that i have to buy a charger is actually completely ridiculous.

people don't understand. they don't put charger in every package because they don't want to be accused of "milking" chargers.

just look at the different variations of Marios they have made and people still call them milking it. now imagine putting the exact same charger with their "new" handhelds? "OMG milk that charger dry, Nintendo! shame on you!"

for people saying that a charger is 20$ its actually alot less under 10 on amazon and gamestop so yea in total you'll be wasting 220-235 tops.. lucky for me i bought the og 3ds and the xl and the dsi so im good but just tell the fact it not 20$..

The 3DS XL is sold in the UK without a charger. I could never understand why. Why not increase the price of the console by £10 (not ideal, but still something) instead of making users make two purchases? And now they're doing it with the new 3ds? Wow.

I actually thought about buying the new 3DS (first one to purchase) but after hearing this I'll wait to see if they release one with a power cord in the future; if not they lost a sale.

Raspberry Pi or most micro pc's (Aside from a few well known brands like the Intel NUC) for that matter are usually sold without a way to power it.

Not saying this is right and to me this is really not a good thing to start... charge me more money but package it with it so I don't forget it and go home with a brick because there is no power.

While I see this as a bad decision, myself personally I am not affected by this. I already have an XL, so I will just use the charger from that.

But someone who is getting a "New" 3DS as their first handheld is going to be pretty disappointed when they have to spend another $15 -$20 on an AC adapter that they would assume would come with it.

Seems to me that the people most excited for this thing are people who either own a 3DS or an XL so it shouldn't affect a lot of them. At least of the people I know anyways..

Still a little bit of a head scratcher. Chalk that one up with the Majora's Mask edition New 3DS XL not coming with the game preloaded here in NA. Why the hell not? You did it with A Link Between Worlds, should this be any different?

Absolutely. I see this as a huge fail on Nintendo's part. I was merely commenting that I, personally, won't be affected since I am keeping my XL.

It's just strange.. I mean should we assume that the next Nintendo console won't come with a wall adapter since they will just assume some people have Wii U's and can use that one? Weird indeed..

Yeah they could have just tossed the charger in and kept the price the same, can't cost them that much. That said you can find wall chargers that include a car one for under $10 at Walmart/Bestbuy ect.

That's not true. The DS uses a different charger. The chargers from the DSi, 2ds, 3ds and 3ds xl will be compatible with the new 3ds.

I am not affected by this because I already have a charger, though it is odd if you are trying to get new people into the system. Though it is not at all hard to find a 3ds charger new or used for really cheap, the inconvenience is there.

it's not logical, but it doesn't bother me. Most Nintendo fans are loyal and have owned several systems prior. Besides not all blu ray players come with HDMI cables.

U don't need an HDMI cable to power the device, Plugs are NOT the same as an added accessory.

You can't buy different plugs that do magic or other stuff...plugs just POWER.

HDMI is optional, you can buy RCA or Component or S.Video...so really it makes more sense to not have an HDMI cable then to not have a power plug.

Do I agree HDMI should be included? Yes ofc, but it's no where near as dumb as not having a plug.

Go to anyone on the street and tell them you bought a battery powered Device that doesn't come with a plug, and it's not a controller or a remote.

What's next ipads and phones without chargers?

It's not dumb what Nintendo did, it's retarded.

Also it's worth noting it's not even a universal plug, where u can say...HEY I can just charge it with micro USB...yeah no.

@Th30 - you CANNOT use an RCA or S-Video for a Blu Ray player, because those cables are not capable of outputting the minimum 480p required for Bluray. Go buy a blu ray player that is from the past year and you'll see there aren't even component cable plugs on a lot of them, only an HDMI plug.

So while I understand it's stupid that not having an AC adapter prevents you from charging the device, not including an HDMI cable prevents you from even using the device period.

I am not defending Nintendo here, I still do think it's a dumb move, and here's hoping with enough vocalization they change their plans.

I absolutely agree, people can defend them with saying the US is spoiled all they want. It is unacceptible, customers should not have to buy a product then find out they need to go back to the store and buy something for $20. Products should work out of the box, period. It is a quick grab at some extra $$$, because those chargers probably cost very little to manufacture.

i think the people freaking out are not really gonna buy the n3ds in the first place.. i mean the people that follow the 3ds news should now that the 3dsll(3dsxl in japan) dont come with chargers.. people shoulda seen this coming i know i did..

people really freaking out about this the charger is 10 bucks on gamestop that comes with 3 wires in one had it since i bout the o.g. 3ds and it still works like a champ..its also has a usb connection so you dont have to use an outlet i plug it to my tv ..and cheaper on amazon...

I bought a new iPod nano and it does not come with a charger either. But it at least comes with the usb cable and can be charged on any computer. I will not get this 3ds out of not wanting to support this nickel and dime mentality. And also my current 3ds xl will play all games except the old xenoblade which I'm not interested in Cus I'll be getting the new xenoblade on wii u

Also new 3ds is pricy for what you get.
