Dying Light - First Play I Expansive

Aside from the obvious similarities, there are times that, when playing Dying Light, you’d be forgiven for forgetting that Techland are the developers behind it. While that seems like damning with feint praise, I’m certain they would acknowledge that, while Dead Island is a series enjoyed by many, it wasn’t without its fair share of technical hiccups.

Actually, that’s the first thing to note, here. Despite being an unfinished preview build, my three and a bit hours with Dying Light were hitch free, with no bugs in sight, and a clear and stable frame-rate throughout

Can't wait for this game.

HaydenJameSmith4142d ago

Me too. I think this is gonna be the Left 4 Dead of this generation with it's expansive/explorable world, environmental effects, special zombies, park our traversal, onslaught of weapons and humans vs infected multiplayer to boot. The graphics look really good too...

OutcastMosquito4142d ago

I would say it's more similar to dead island than left 4 dead. Looks really addictive.

HaydenJameSmith4142d ago

@OutcastMosquito

Well that isn't surprising since is from the Studio that brought us Dead island, Techland anyway I didn't mean it looked like L4D just that it was going to be the big popular zombie game of this generation... L4D was introduced early last generation and was received very well and grew very popular among fans. It may not have the versatility of L4D cause of the lack of co op but still looks like a great game.

UKmilitia4142d ago

me neither but i watched a video yesterday of devs playing it and it looked a bit boring and glichy.

i really want the game but it just looked like slow and clunkier than the videos we seen.

I really hope this game will have a great story line.

lebr0n4142d ago

That's what is making me reluctant about preordering.

nucky644142d ago

I'm very excited for the story. I've heard they have a surprise "hook" in the story that nobody will see coming..... and that has me excited to play!

Bathyj4142d ago

the hook is you were actually Bruce Willis's zombie the whole time.

Remember, I called it here first ;P

nucky644142d ago

damn! you had it figured out the whole time!

Sketchy_Galore4142d ago

I'm pretty sure, as a rule, any game that contains the words, 'I'm not a leader, I'm a goddamn parkour instructor!' probably isn't going to rival Citizen Kane for engrossing plot and character development. Still, it should be fun.

lebr0n4142d ago

Up to you, wait till it gets enough reviews and decide.

Bathyj4142d ago

Totally your choice, but its definitely my next purchase.

mooseo214142d ago

Pretty pumped for this game. Just bought and pre-loaded today!

lebr0n4142d ago

The game is getting a lot of hype lately, I think I should wait till it gets good reviews.

Mastadope424142d ago

Well shit color me surprised that coverage is ramping up for a game close to it's release date. Must be innovaters because clearly this has NEVER EVER happened to a game before...

I knew holding off playing it for 10 years was the right call.

ocelot07319d ago

I remember playing this for the first time on the PS4 and it knocking me sick and hurting my eyes due to the horrible motion blur and FPS.

Played it a lot on pc a year later. Then again on ps5 once they dropped the 60fps update. I'll be giving it another go. Mad how they have kept updating this game for 10 years.

Ten Years Later - Still Going Strong: Dying Light: Retouched Update Releasing June 26

Hey Survivors! Tymon here, your favorite Dying Light Franchise Director.

It's been an absolutely wild month here at Techland! We're in the thick of what I'm calling the "Summer of Dying Light," delivering updates and big news across all three Dying Light games. Just a few weeks ago, we dropped the first gameplay for Dying Light: The Beast, revealed its release date, and kicked off pre-orders (if you haven't seen it, check out my last dev blog). I'm incredibly proud of what we're building with The Beast - it’s the culmination of more than 10 years of experience in open-world survival horror!

But here's the thing: we never forget where we came from. That's why, this week, we're not just looking forward - we're rolling out significant updates for both the original Dying Light and Dying Light 2: Stay Human. We promised to support our games for a long time, and we're committed to continuing that support, right through and beyond the launch of Dying Light: The Beast.

Looking Back At The $386,000 Dying Light 'My Apocalypse Edition', 10 Years Later

Nobody bought it for an obvious reason.

Gamingsince1981449d ago

Wtf did this edition come with ? A real helicopter and a real zombie virus ?

Vithar449d ago

For one lucky person willing to spend $386,000, the My Apocalypse Edition of Dying Light promised a staggering collection. It included the buyer’s face in the game, a human-sized ‘Volatile’ statue, and parkour lessons with a freerunning team. It also came with night vision goggles, an all-expenses paid round trip to Techland’s offices, and four signed copies of the game. Oh, and it also came with a custom-built, ‘zombie-proof’ survival shelter.

LOL but it was a stunt from the team:
‘It was a PR stunt and got a lot of media attention for its wild and over-the-top nature, it was designed to generate buzz around the game’s release. It did a great job of getting the game noticed, though! But nobody purchased it – thankfully, I guess!’
