I'll be interested to see how well optimized The Witcher 3 will be for PC, and also to see the difference between PC's max settings and the PS4 version. I don't have a PC that even comes close to the minimum requirements right now, so it's PS4 for me anyway.

sikandar2014162d ago

I'm ready for ultra settings... :D

BC_Master_Haze4162d ago

As an owner of an r9 295x2, it's nice to see developers push hardware to the limits. Otherwise, what's the point of having the best available GPU? The game will run on some pretty old cards, and 8 GB of DDR3 ram isn't a lot.

As Forn said, if a high end computer is outside your budget, pick up a PS4 or an Xbox One. Both are good machines.

aerisbueller4161d ago (Edited 4161d ago )

no idea why you're getting disagrees. Indeed, the worst thing about PC gaming is how few games actually require high end PCs and can take real advantage of them instead of just letting you up the resolution and AA out the wazoo.

Like, Metro, Star Citizen, and this are the only games that seem to push PC's lately.

ShottyGibs4161d ago (Edited 4161d ago )

I agree but 1 one caveat.. as long as it pushes the system because its genuinely a technical marvel, not a bad unoptomized mess.

Femto4161d ago

why he's getting disagrees? simple, fanboys

PC adepts have for years said that console gaming was crippling PC gaming. Now that PC gaming is having its technological push without being compromised by console gaming, their are also complaining?!
The hell, beware with what you wish for!!!

I'm ready for ultra as well great.

stragomccloud4162d ago

I'm so psyched that I meet the recommended requirements!

AndrewLB4162d ago

Same here. I do find this comment quite hilarious though...

"On the other end Nvidia got the new Titan, which performs just slightly better, than the R9 290X."

Umm... so does the GTX 780ti, GTX 980, Titan Z, and Titan Black. As will the soon to be released GM200 which has 3072 cores, 6 GPCs, 24 SMM/SMX, 256 TMU, 96 ROP, 384-bit memory, 12gb GDDR5, 317.4gb/s bandwidth, and does 6.07 TFLOPS stock.

"The game has recommended 8GB of system RAM, which doesn't make a lot of sense"

Have you even looked at the game? Its a massive open-world game with no loading screens and thousands of NPCs. http://www.gamersyde.com/ne...

"Consider that you'd need about 2-3GB for normal OS function on a Windows machine, then the game is asking for between 5 and 6 GB for non-graphics related processing. The game likely wants 3GB-4GB VRAM on top of that, which makes sense in regards to modern games. "

I use less than 2gb idling in Win 7 x64, and considering many modern open world games... i think Witcher 3 will probably eat up at least 4-6gb of system RAM and 3gb VRAM. This will definitely vary depending on resolution because VRAM use increases exponentially as resolution increases.

I'm personally waiting for the Pascal cards to upgrade as I have a 3gb 780ti. It seems to still do the job just fine. I would hope so as it was pretty costly early last year and I would expect at least 3 years from it before "needing" to upgrade, which is usually based on personal preference rather than an actual need. I just want a single card that can do ultra settings, 4k, 60fps that doesn't cost a couple grand from Nvidia, is that too much to ask? lol

OT: I'm set for TW3 though which I'm happy about, should be running Ultra settings with only a few things having to be dropped down if any depending on the frame rate I'm getting.

No, it's about time we take the specs to the future instead of the past. And that's if the games are actually properly optimized, which i'm pretty sure this is. Personally i'll be upgrading before the game releases, but i'm mostly looking forward to Pascal.

The actor who portrayed Zoltan Chivay in The Witcher series of games has died

Alexander Morton, the Scottish actor probably best known for starring in British comedy drama Monarch of the Glen - but known to me for being the hilariously foul-mouthed dwarf Zoltan Chivay in The Witcher 2 and The Witcher 3 - has died aged 81.

Cause they play NBA2k26, COD and gamepass

Fishy Fingers72d ago (Edited 72d ago )

3x less sales than Playstation.
3x less consoles sold than Playstation.

Per captita, it averages out that the same number of users are buying CDP games regardless of platform, no?

Bathyj72d ago

The exact same or possibly more because a series S, initial investment and effort to Port to Xbox consoles for a third of the return.

Simply not worth it

LMGk72d ago

“ Simply not worth it”

And yet, basically every game comes to Xbox.

NotoriousWhiz72d ago (Edited 72d ago )

A third is a pretty big number to be honest. Like would you rather make 15 million or 20 million? That's the difference that a third makes.

GamingSinceForever72d ago

Hey it’s ok. They are really impressed with XBOx’s new CEO so exclusivity is on the way. 😂

Loktai72d ago

Ok but I mean be logical ... modern PC, Switch, PS4 PS5 then you have XBOX, of all of those XBOX is probably only 10 percent... I mean, what do you expect? 10 percent increase in sales is still nothing to sneeze at, remember - this is CD projekt red and they sell a lot of software. 10 percent of their sales is probably what most studios DREAM of selling .... just playing devils advocate..... its easy to say LOL haha XBOX.... but.. I mean we know what it is at this point. I havent bought on since my xbox one X and before that I only used other peoples xboxes since the OG XBOX and stick with PC and Playstation and switch OLED, but .. I mean.... theres nothing WRONG with an xbox considering its just not the best - but they work fine. make no mistake.
