The game has recommended 8GB of system RAM, which doesn't make a lot of sense, unless the game is massively persistive and constantly simulating things across the entire world. Consider that you'd need about 2-3GB for normal OS function on a Windows machine, then the game is asking for between 5 and 6 GB for non-graphics related processing. The game likely wants 3GB-4GB VRAM on top of that, which makes sense in regards to modern games. This kind of RAM usage is generally reserved for MMOs. The only "single" (loosely using that term) player game I know of that comes close is Watch_Dogs, and that was because the game was constantly online and poorly optimised. Considering this game is not online, this does not bode well. Sounds like they've been spending more time optimizing for consoles than PC.

This is not so far-fetched: CDPR was a small studio (~60-80 people) that classically concentrated on 1 game for 1 platform at a time. With this project they've ballooned to over 200 people working on 3 platforms at once. I imagine the overhead of dealing with all those people and the increased workload has proven a daunting task, hence the delays.

For a triple A open-world RPG with amazing visuals and super large in-game world in 2015 these are, I would say, pretty normal requirements.

Not even close. What has gone too far was last gen and that skewed these requirements for a while now. And now they have finally normalized as the new more powerful consoles got released. People can't adjust as they been used to maxing out their games on lower mid range hardware when it shouldn't have been the case.

It'll still run fine on most configurations. It's better to overestimate the requirements than to underestimate them.

I’m sorry but is everyone writing articles not under the age of 23 or something? People seem to think these last 6 years would last forever, but people who actually have a memory longer than a few years remember that before this “Generation” of PC hardware, PC’s got outdated nearly annually.

Intel’s monopoly at the top end of processors, a console generation that lasted longer than maybe it should have added to the fact that most games were made for consoles first then ported, created a 6 year period where technology barely moved forward. All of a sudden tech moves forward a little bit and everyone is complaining? Give me a break!

All this BS about people buying a computer last year and now they can’t run something maxed out is also utter nonsense. It serves you right for buying a “Mid Range” computer and expecting it to crank out everything at max setting for years to come. I have a 6 year old computer which I upgrade the GPU on every few years and I can still crank out everything at max settings, and I’m well above the recommended settings for this game. But that’s because I knew what I was doing and dished out the 2,500 necessary on well researched parts. But now all these articles popped up on how you can get “Great performance on a budget PC” and people walked around with 1,000$ riggs thinking they were all “High End”. You got that performance because the industry was at the end of a half decade tech stagnation…………..

Those system spec’s aren’t bad. If that pisses you off just wait to see how much specs balloon once intel pumps out 8-core processors in the mid range market………….

If one is so worried about having to upgrade one's PC, why not just get and X1 or PS4?

The game isn't even that demanding. The requirements is what everyone should have if you PCS game.

System requirement are made by millions of monkeys typing on their keyboard. They take the one that is close to resemble system requirement and strap it on the back of the case.

I don't get why people actually look these up, they have been garbage for 15 years, always far from the truth for about 95% of the games out there.

Minimum system requirement? What does that even mean? 24 fps 800*600 at lowest settings? Low setting in 1080p ? 720p? It's not even defined. Same goes witch recommended specs, What am I suppose to run this? max settings no dips at 1440p 60 fps? Certainly not. I mean, even ram is just retarded, either you have enough of don't. 6gm will give you the same framerate as having 8 16 or 64 in your system as long as you don't use more then that..

Nvidia GeForce GTX 770 (depends on manufacturer: 2-4 GB – 256 bit)
ATI Radeon R9 290 (4GB – 512 bit)

A 290 will shit on a 770... 770 are rebranded 980 and 280x are rebranded 7970 and both where literally neck and neck at release, why are they not the recommended specs?

My two 7850 oc editions will do ok the new omega drivers are doing well wont max it but usually they are better optimised for nvidia anyway these games, 16gb of ram so no issue there will only play in 1080p. Happy atm with the old i7 2700k.

Its about time we have a game that actually pushes the hardware. Cant remember the last time i had to think about a spec sheet until now! Its made me want it on pc over ps4 too, if these are the specs for pc i wonder what this will look like on the consoles.

From this moment henceforth, Xbox hardware shall simply just exist but have no significant bearing from a business standpoint or from a gamer culture standpoint. I’ll say this. Cyberpunk had a tumultuous start on console. Even if it had sold like crazy, that whole almost unplayable fiasco and being given no questions asked refunds made a lot of people not look back.
When it comes to PC, people are a lot more forgiving of things like that, especially on Steam, because of the return policy. I really think console manufacturers should implement the exact same refund policy. Was it played under X time? Refund it. It makes people take that risk on games a LOT more than on console. Bought this game and it was broken? Refund it. They said they fixed it 3 months later? Buy it again. It’s fixed but just not fun? Refund it. On console you don’t have that luxury. Was it downloaded? GG. No refund. Lord knows my Steam library is full of “I’ll try it” games that I loved and I’m glad I can take a rush on. On console, specifically PlayStation because I’m not buying Xbox games, I take calculated risk. Known developers. Shinobi, Ninja Gaiden ragebound, stuff like that. Obviously big exclusives and games too. I would have never tried Little Bookstore on PlayStation, but on Steam… why not? Hellish Quart? Why not. Buckshot Roulette? Why not.
