I've been working up the courage to get back into Eve:Online, for the past like... 5 years or something. I wonder if I'd survive reentry :)

It's still the most complicated and toughest mmo to play but the changes bring some simplicity to this taxing micro managing game.

I dip in and out from time to time on a friend's account because it's still great but I can't devote proper time to it.

But the changes are nice.

Mike, it's actually been five years since I played as well. There's a lot more to do now and they've simplified so many things. You don't have to worry about upgrading your clones to match your skill points. Exploration has added an entire new career path. It's pretty great.

Yeah, I played Eve for about 6 years, had 3 characters, was heading up a corp and was tying to keep a pos going. It all ended up being such hard work. Everyone was migrating into the huge alliances at the time, and I just didn't want to go that direction. After 6 years, I just got fed up of being ganked trying to run the station/mine ore/explore out in deep space, and then having to fork out another however billion isk for another battleship...

It's great that CCP release free content regularly, but I always felt I was behind the curve, and never at the fore of the what was going on with the community. Worse still because I had however million skills to train, it would always take another 6 months before I had the skills to begin getting to where I wanted to be...

I loved it, stuck it out for all those years, but when my corp started fading out, I just didn't have the heart to continue. To really get the most out of Eve you really do need to be in a large active corp., and I don't think I have the time to invest in a corp... especially now that I have a wife and kids. lol. :)
