Gamers had microsoft run with their tails between their legs, red faced, with so many 180s a ballerina would have been dizzy

Had amazing cheap deals due to the Fact microsoft were now needing us not us needing them

Nintendo finally had some amazing games

Gamers were the winners.. We spoke with our wallets to such an extent ive never seen a first year with so many ups and downs and competitive pricing.

That 180 wasn't because of the gamers...come on, don't be naive, we don't have a say in anything. Microsoft reacted to Sony's presentation, a lot of the feedback was already given within the same day. Sony were going to make the ps4 in exactly the same was as the xbox one. Sony found out that Microsoft were doing that and changed. It had nothing to do with us, we wouldn't even count as a middle man. Sony's marketing is excellent "we listened to you" yeah right, yet people are eating out of their hands because they feel the need to justify their purchase.

How did gamers lose?
MS completely 180ed this past year to make the comback beast that is the current X1, We got Mario Party + Cart. Smash Bros 3DS+Wii U, LBP3, The Crew Titan Fall, Advanced Warfare, Destiny, TLOU Remastered among other remasters, COUNTLESS Indies (AwesomeNauts). E3 was great on all fronts. It was a great year for gamers all platforms had hits and when they weren't getting hits was enjoying that there are many more fellow gamers on same platform with announced sales numbers. This was a big year for all fronts and don't blame anyone taking pride in their respected console.

The backing of 18.5 million supporters as well as the continued guarantee of ongoing support from countless developers! Which is a major win in my opinion. That in itself translates to a major win for gamers.

In terms of quality games Wii U won.
In terms of sales Ps4 won.
In terms of comeback xbone won.

Overall the gamers won.

Agree. Personally however - right or wrong - I don't give a hoot about sales, an example...Okami (upon initial release) sold poorly to say the least. Didn't stop it (for me) being one of the best games of that gen and still a fondly remembered classic. The same could be argued for the Dreamcast and GameCube. Neither set the world on fire in terms of sales, both jockyed for not being last place in terms of sales. Again, didn't stop me treasuring each and keeping a smile on my face in terms of quality of games and overall package.

I'm a gamer, nothing more. For me the Wii U easily 'won' 2014 as I only ever judge the games, the quality of which and exclusivity. People - and this particular article - criticise the Wii U (and Nintendo) for lack of third party, but I criticise both the PS4 (which i own) and XB1 for releasing unimaginative, broken (a lot of the time) and a bundle of 'remastered' titles - cheating a bit, and a con.

It was a great year for console gaming because they all did well and show that console gaming is still very much alive and successful as ever. The ps4 is selling faster then any of the previous playstation consoles & the xbox one is selling faster then any of the xbox consoles & nintendo is starting to pickup aswell with big games coming out from all 3 corporations. Its a win for all gamers even pc gamers because 3rd party games are showing love to all platforms. Hope it continues so the gaming industry continues to expand.

The PS4 won in both hardware and software sales. The big PS4 success forced Microsoft to completely change their x1 from their original vision and forced Microsoft to make various price cuts. In fact there, the X1 is the first console in history to receive a price cut so early.

On the other hand, Microsoft has done nothing to stop PS4 momentum.

For me, PS4 was the clear winner of 2014.

Nintendo gets my vote. If not for wii u and its released I woukdnt of gamed as much last year.

Spent more time with tropical freeze, mario kart, BAYONETTA 2 , and smash bros than I did with second son, outlast and P.T.
