Yeah it sucks I want the ones I like so I have to preorder them 3 months before they come out or they get picked up and sold for £50 each luckly my mum got me the villager and the wii fit trainer for Xmas at £10 each best place to look is shops that don't know what they have sort of thing like if u go to game they know what ones sell and charge £15 for them but tesco put their stock out randomly so it's best to check there if ur UK anyway

Neonridr4156d ago

I have all of them on order except Lucario and Rosalina. Up here in Canada the preorders for both of those are non-existent.

PrimeGrime4156d ago

The Rosalina pre-order is an absolutely mess. Their PR teams says they sold out, then their twitter account says the pre-orders were just an accident more will be made available later...

Then again their twitter account says the opposite, saying they won't be taking anymore pre-orders... Then today they say more pre-orders for Rosalina will be made available this month when they just told me they weren't taking anymore pre-order and that people would have to wait till Feb 1st for the actual release.

Then to make matters worse, I just spoke to their live chat and they said the pre-orders were sold out and they don't know if anymore will be made available to pre-order...

Yay, I can't wait for Nintendo to send out only 4-5 of each for stock. So I can spend hours calling and running from store to store just to find 1.

PrimeGrime4156d ago

I've thought about it, with the amount of gas I've wasted driving from store to store because of this crap with Nintendo shorting retailers.. I could just buy figurines of much higher quality. Since I don't even use my amiibos, all of them are still in the box that I have.

I've just gone through this much trouble already, so no sense in stopping now I suppose. I probably won't bother after wave 3 unless they make a Zero Suit or Ganadorf.. other than that I could careless about amiibos after wave 3.

Such a hassle, and so much confusion from both Nintendo and retailers about their own product.

WeAreLegion4156d ago

That's what I would do. They're nice figurines, but you can find better Nintendo toys out there.

GoPanthers9994156d ago

The best way to buy these is via preorder. I have 4 coming from Gamestop and Lucario from Amazon France.

Jag-T10004156d ago

I think these are selling only because people are collecting them. They probably don't even have a Wii-U. I just think they are overpriced, that's why I haven't bought any.

Nintendo's new approach to amiibo: expensive premium figurines

NE: "Nowadays, amiibo cost more than ever, and they don't offer many more in-game bonuses than before. Should Nintendo switch to cards instead?"

Everything Nintendo doesis expensive these days. This company loves to gouge pockets. What’s sad, people willing to pay for it.

Neonridr73d ago

I used to collect amiibos, especially the Smash Brothers ones. Ended up with nearly 100 of them. Eventually sold them all to a collector. I pick and choose which Amiibos to purchase nowadays, but usually it's the Zelda ones.

And as usual you don’t find the iron man dude to comment on such news 😆

Nintendo gets away with murder when it comes to its game prices . They're still selling some of their last gen games for full price.

CrimsonWing69101d ago

Not just full price, but $80 when last gen it was $60… and $70… which, don’t get me started on that.

£74.99 ($100) Switch 2 games didn't last long in the UK and games on key cards are annoying. Amiibo has been problematic from the start, prices a bit high, then the scalpers get hold of them, not forgetting stupid regional exclusives. On top of that, the content you get is fairly poor, then you have a figure gathering dust. For us poor gamers (me), Nintendo should've released Amiibo without the figures, just the bases showing who was who. I paid into a few of them during the Wii U era, but not Switch. With all of this, why would Nintendo be bothered?
