Lightning in the PR-release looks off compared to the 2013 version but the PR release looks more polished. Still i liked the 2013 video version more It looke way more colourful than the new one.

Expected from techland if it involves zombies...

I see the difference. However, Dying Light's gameplay trailer video settings are likely maxed out while RadBrad's is the contrary.

F'ck all this "downgrade?" bullshit that's going on everywhere. Why does it even matter? They ARE surely delivering the best games they can at the time. They want us to buy them, right?

The trick is that the old movie had many effects exaggerated - the glows, the lighting shafts, autoexposition, motion blur, finally the contrast - everything that helped to distract your attention from the rest of the unfinished enviro and lighting system. The impression was enhanced by fast running that kept the screen - and so the assets - blurred.
But tricks like these are always attractive for a 15 minutes long dynamic, strongly directed movie, but look odd if you stop running and look at the details (fake black shadows everywhere, every wall overexposed, almost white shafts etc.) Also it makes your eyes tired after an hour of playing. Now it's just better balanced. Nothing has disappeared and the quality of some assets are even better. IMO the final version looks more natural and consistent.

I still remember a time when game previews were mostly to CGI, then after that devs toted in engine cut scenes as what the game looked like, now devs are probably using high end PC to reveal graphics but I'm just happy they're showing gameplay instead of CGI and cutscenes.

I'm very happy with game graphics on next-gen consoles (except for the widespread flickering/dithered/low quality shadows).

If you want the game to look as good as possible get a $500 graphics card, other than that I'm pretty happy with what these $400 boxes ($300 in the case of xone) are doing.

To be honest I tend to take anything Techland shows/says with a pinch of salt. They're passionate devs who love making games, but Call Of Juarez Gunslinger was the only genuinely great game they've made in years IMO, while Dead Island was oversold by that trailer and everything else has been shonky, recycled or plain terrible.

Not holding out much hope for Dying Light or Hellraid at all. If they end up being pretty decent I'll be pleasantly surprised and delighted rather than disappointed.

only people complaining about word downgrade are the people who trying to stick up Uncharted 4, if a game downgrade, it downgrade, its plain as simple, it does not mean the game is bad, there can be downgrades and still a game can be 10 out of a 10

and I agree with the people here these 30 frames suck, they should of just made the consoles pack a little more juice to give it the boost needed to make every game 60frames

Of course it's downgraded. That's what happens when you put games on the Xbox. I remember when you could play all of the characters in FFXV and set up different strategies but ever since it was announced for Xbox they made it so where you can only play as 1 character just like FFXIII.

How is this game out already? It says it comes out on the 27th of January.

Its time for new consoles earlier than I thought

New video has absolutely no HBAO which the original did. You wouldn't expect the console versions to have this anyway but as this is PC footage as well then that HAS been removed.

Motion blur is now excessive which you can physically see it has been used to cover screen tear. None of which was in the "apparent" alpha footage.

Particle & wind physics have taken a clear downgrade, global wind physics more so.

Shadows have also taken a little knock as you can see soft shadows aren't as 'soft' any more.

The thing that annoys me the most is not the downgrades themselves in these games it's the absolute lies that the devs then spin about there not being any downgrades at all.

We're not stupid, we know you're not going to be able to match the target renders - yes we know you used target renders as your alpha footage & not real footage. We know that you are going to have to make cutbacks to be able to run the game fluidly on these systems so just be honest & tell the truth.

Stop openly lying to people!
