Put this in a game and then we will talk, I'm tired of all these Nvidia/AMD tech demo's that never see the light of day in an actual videogame. Some may be fooled, but I buy my card based on performance and frame latency, not non-existent features.

methegreatone4174d ago

The tech demos they were doing some time ago now show in many games. It will just take some time. Many of the features they advertised a while back are used in tons of games on PC.
Ofcourse, no game will use something like this to its fullest extent, unless the game itself is mainly about that particular aspect.
Besides, nvidia have great cards anyway. Great performance, low power consumption, and really quiet. Now the majority of people praise nvidia for its advances, and for good reason. They learned from their previous generations, and improved on their techonology. The results speak for themselves.

mikeslemonade4174d ago

Nerd is right, the tech demos don't apply to most people.

starchild4173d ago

Agreed. I'm enjoying the hell out of my gsync monitor. It's the most significant thing to happen to PC gaming in a decade. Honestly, I know that sounds hyperbolic, but it's the truth.

traumadisaster4174d ago (Edited 4174d ago )

No, we will talk now. You don't watch it if you're not interested.

We need innovation and this is what these tech companies are doing.

sjaakiejj4174d ago

Nvidia and AMD don't make games, they develop hardware, which they are trying to sell to developers through videos like this. These videos aren't aimed at the average consumer.

AndrewLB4174d ago

It wasn't that long ago where an nVidia tech demo showed off their "Hairworks" technology... and if you played Far Cry 4 on PC you'd know it's absolutely amazing.

http://i1248.photobucket.co...

Still screenshots don't do it justice.

Mikeslemonade- They don't really apply to consoles considering the tech being shown off here is for nVidia hardware. Even if it were an AMD tech demo, chances are you'd be seeing innovations that wont be seen on consoles till next gen.

starchild4173d ago

Absolutely. The hairworks in Far Cry 4 is awesome. I can't wait to see it used in The Witcher 3 as well.

MaxwellBuddha4174d ago

It's not nVidia's fault developers would rather work on weak console hardware which can't even run PhysX.

LordDhampire4174d ago

Well if they do implement this I can tell you how its going to play out.

The game is going to be nigh unplayable on amd hardware since Gameworks is practically malware and in doing so its going to have game breaking bugs on Nvidia hardware and still not run that great.

AndrewLB4174d ago

That's the biggest bunch of nonsense i've read on n4g in a while, which says a lot.

Gameworks features don't affect AMD users one single bit since they're turned off on their hardware. The vast majority of bugs seen in recent games are caused by people choosing settings that are too high for their PC and poor configuration. I solved all my AC: Unity and Far Cry 4 performance issues by using nVidia inspector to enable v-sync, Smooth AFR ON, triple buffering, prerender 1 frame, maximum performance, and by turning off all mouse acceleration in the game's gamerprofile.xml file.

pumpactionpimp4174d ago

You realize you used an nvidia product, to fix a problem on your nvidia card, to play a game made with nvidia game works... Right? You might not know it, but every nvidia game works made game has had problems initially on amd cards. It would appear that after a few weeks to months of patching by amd some seem to work.

Wether this is nvidias fault, or the developers making the game is fair game. But stating there are no problems with amd cards, on nvidia game works games shows you don't know what you're talking about.

xTheMercenary_4174d ago

This is why i always go for NVIDIA for my pc graphics cards.

tekksin4174d ago

would be great if they told us what engines used this.

Lon3wolf4174d ago

It would indeed, they do say they are working on UE4 integration though.

Veteran artist behind Mass Effect, Halo, and Overwatch 2 weighs in on Nvidia DLSS 5

Darryl Linington from Notebookchect.net writes, "The backlash around Nvidia’s AI push and DLSS 5 has opened a broader question in game development. Beyond performance and image quality, veteran artists are now weighing what AI-driven rendering means for authorship and visual control. If a system can add or reinterpret detail after the fact, the issue is no longer just technical. It becomes a question of how much of the final image still belongs to the people who built it."

NVIDIA DLSS 4.5 Frame Gen 5x & 6x Come to RTX 50 Series GPUs + Dynamic Multi Frame Gen

The latest GeForce driver introduces DLSS 4.5 Multi Frame Generation 5x and 6x alongside Dynamic Multi Frame Generation to RTX 50-series GPUs. The former increases the number of interpolated frames to 4 and 5 (between every two rendered frames), further reducing reliance on the CPU.

Big corp bowing down to another big corp is nothing more than helping each other. But try any games it doesn't work

Smellsforfree46d ago

I don't mind frame gen but only use it if I'm already >70fps without it. It is kinda nice but if I see any visual artifacts I will turn it off. Whenever I'm playing games on my 120Hz LG C3 I will almost never use it because frame rates >120fps look really bad. I think spatial super sampling is a far more interesting and beneficial tech than frame gen. Boosting 30fps to 60fps with framegen is just garbage.

SimpleDad45d ago

Tvs were doing this 15 years ago with their telenovela effect... Idk how anyone can play with this on.

There is definitely input lag there and artifacts.

CornholioX45d ago

It's commercial how they show it. Typical any company does that.

Goodguy0145d ago (Edited 45d ago )

Frame gen just has too much latency and visual glitches for me, don't think I can ever use it for most games. I'd compare with it on and off and it's a world of difference in the feel. I need the very least input lag in my gaming. Companies should rely on actual optimization. As for potato hardware, I suppose it could have it's use.

Is the AI Push in AAA Gaming Giving Indie Developers A Golden Ticket?

WTMG's Jordan Hawes: "With the advent of NVIDIA's DLSS 5 tools, and the whole debacle surrounding AI usage in AAA gaming, is this new push an opportunity for smaller studios to showcase they are the ones vouching for artistic integrity in the gaming industry?"

They already are. Indie studios are the only developers that constantly strive to publish innovative and experimental experiences. There has been little to no art in AAA gaming, with just a few exceptions.

Yi-Long56d ago

Indie-studios have been showcasing their creative superiority and bravery over AAA-studios/releases for a while now.

Personally. I have zero interest in AI slop in any of my entertainment, so regardless of what Sony, Ubisoft, MS, EA, etc believe the future is, I'm just not gonna touch any of that stuff.

blacktiger56d ago

Everything you said but for me MS is always the problem.

isarai_lee56d ago

One more thing in a long list of things that already give indie Games an advantage

Miacosa56d ago (Edited 56d ago )

In reality a dev having a simplistic tech statck does not really impact the end user experience. If the game is good and worth playing is what matters. In other words some cooks make care if 2 or 3 eggs were used to make a cake but the person eating it doesn't. And in the case of DLSS 5 the chef is soley responsible for the recipe and how its mixed together.
