Samurai Showdown Review | Hardcore Droid

Hardcore Droid: "SNES veterans may recall 1995’s Samurai Kirby, an 8-in-1 game offering a set of platformer adventures and other mini-games (including) Samurai Kirby...Superstar was ported to the Nintendo DS as the enhanced Kirby Superstar Ultra in 2008—which, perhaps not so coincidentally, was the same year indie developers JForce Games released a remake of Samurai Kirby called Avatar Showdown for the Xbox Live Indie Game platform. Avatar Showdown employs exactly the same setup as Samurai Kirby, with the only modernizing effect being its cash-in on the then-superheated avatar craze. I am actually really impressed with this game. I'm not a diehard Samurai Showdown fan, but this one I've actually had a lot of fun playing. Plus I like that they aren't scared away by SJWs with character designs.

The most important fighting games of the decade

2019 is coming to a close and with it a decade of fighting game play and development. SFIV hands down. I wouldn't say it revived it but it breathed some much needed new life into the FGC. I only started to get into it properly back in AE but seeing the FGC go from strength to strength has been an absolute joy. The newer people will never know the struggles of being a European staying up to watch tournaments in Tournament Standard Time (2-3 hour delays)

It's disappointing that SoulCalibur is not having the attention it deserve.

The 2019 Fighting Game of the Year

Fighting games release in cycles. Every so often you’ll get a year where every major fighting game producer releases a new AAA fighter to play, swamping consumers with choices. Then, they all take a break for a year, leaning on DLC and letting players dive deep into their mechanics. This was one of those years.

Very proud of SNK for bringing back SS...even if it's horrible unbalanced. But it does make me hopeful for the new KoF.

Mk11 for me. Samsho is pretty good though too, I preordered it just because it came with the season pass and I support that practice on principle.
