The 360 does not support the KB/M. Blizzard may decide on a console alright and as their penchant is for not doing things like others I would expect they would do this.

Also Blizzard likes to control their servers to a larger degree than MS allows. If anything this works against the 360 and FOR the PS3.

This isn't even speculation its more of wishful thinking. PSN is more open than Xbox live. Because Msoft has 1 game where 360 players can play against pc players doesn't mean anything. If it was to be exclusive to any console it would be the 360 but in terms of which console has the most open network, its the psn. That is why UT3 on PS3 has mod support and 360 does not.

The problem with PC vs 360/PS3 is balancing it out so no one is weighed down by the other. That is why we don't have PC vs PS3 or 360 vs PC not because of one console having a more open network. Msoft already experimented with this with shadow run and they haven't done it since.

well seing as just about every 360 game gets ported to pc since its basically the same architecture im shure this is very true and easily ported to 360. ps3 however would have to be completely reprogrammed just for it making them have to go out of their way, hence not likely.

You make a good point but despite the similar architecture, A LOT of games still don't make it to the 360. It would be easier on them to port to 360 for sure but the point here is Diablo goes to the more open system and then it calls out the 360 when in reality PS3 is the more open system. This proves nothing its simply wishful thinking really

How is the architecture for the PC and 360 similar? PC uses Intel processors and 360 uses a processor based off IBM tech. Sure the software to program might be similar, but that doesn't mean a port to PS3 is that much harder. Code would still have to be written for 360, just not as much as the PS3.

Plus to do cross platform play, it would be WAY easier on PS3 seeing that has an open network unlike 360. To get it working on 360 they would have to work out a deal with MS, which probably quite annoying.

But as I said IF (and that is a very big IF) Blizzard was to do a console port it would be simultaneous PS3/360

360 is a single threaded console. ps3 is multithreaded with 8 processors. so all the work then has to be balanced and split/ written for each processor. so no there not similar at all. PC is also single threaded processor, thats why pc games and 360 games are so similar and easily made. dont you remember how much trouble epic were having porting UT3 to ps3? it got delayed from summer 07 till november 07 . haze LOL, delayed what? over a year? and look how that ended up.

If I had to choose which platform to play on (assuming I did not have a PC) and the PS3 let me use a keyboard and mouse I would certainly buy it for the PS3 over my 360.

I am not slamming the 360 in anyway, I loved it, but the ability to play the game on the PS3 with a KB+M would be the deal breaker for me.

Wow, once again folks have managed to turn a story into some kind of twisted little war for their console. Just sad.

The reason why number 1 said he was glad he purchased an Xbox 360 was because of two things.
1)Most PC games that get ported, do in fact see the day of light on the Xbox.
2) I doubt he was being a "fanboy" perhaps he could have said he was happy owning a 360 as because he thinks that this game would be ported to both of the consoles.

But of course....this gets turned into console debacle. Why does everyone jump to conclusion and have to say stupid things like....The PS3 is Sooo much better for this game??

How can the game be possible on 360 but not possible on PS3? To me they basically use the same control scheme. Any game that can be done on 360 can be done on PS3 just as well. I really hope this game does make its way to consoles though as the type of game it is it seems perfect for consoles.

The 360 is a lot more like a PC in the way it processes code. That in mind, it would not only be an easier port, but also easier to get to work with PC versions of the game.

Also, KB/M is only a huge advantage in RTS. It has debatable advantage in FPS, but in hack n slash, driving, and fighters controllers actually play a lot better 9 times out of 10.

That's EXACTLY what I was thinking and then the point was brought up in the article too and they somehow think that means 360 because of Shadowrun. If anything I'd think the PS3 would get it because Sony wouldn't give a damn about using BNet so long as they were getting the game.

If MS really wanted this game on their console, they will give way to Blizzard so they can use their own server network, just like they are doing now with EA, Square and a couple other Publishers/Devs. It's not hard to have your own servers on the 360, it just has to get approved by MS. Most Devs don't have their own because it is much easier for them to have MS handle it. But since this is not a MMO and you don't have to pay a subscription fee to play, there shouldn't be a big deal about server control.

And why are PC/PS3 owners getting mad about another possible port of a PC game to the 360. PC gamers are guaranteed to get be version already, so stop crying. As for PS3 owners, you have just as much chance as 360 owners of getting this game as well because of the keyboard and mouse support. It may be delayed but you're still getting it.

He said he wanted to get PC and console to play together. 360 already has that capability, and proven to work pretty well.

Blizzard already works closely with M$ for windows compatibility in their games. Easy portability to the system.

That's more than enough to at least reason that IF diablo 3 goes to consoles, 360 will more than likely be one of them, if not the only one.

edit: I don't think it's coming to a console. I'm just saying, if Blizzard takes it to a console, it's probably going to be at least the 360 (if not both).

That makes no sense at all. Don't you think an mainly online game would have to make significant compromises if they did not control the online portion of it?

And if you want to go technical you can't say that w/ the specs given that either system couldn't run this game. From a technical stance no compromises would be made on either system.

Isn't the PS3 network more "open" than the Xbox network. The author assumes that since the X360 has one cross network game, Diablo 3 would automatically be a best fit for X360. Didn't Epic already say that they could have implemented cross network play for UT3 on the PS3, but didn't because it's not quite fair?

If you read the original interview, he also says:
"We want to deliver what is the best experience possible so the controls and everything else have to be perfect."

This might just as well refer to keyboard and mouse support.

This is complete and total uneducated speculation. If anything, the PS3 would be more suited than the 360 for PC/console cross platform play. It only works well for the 360 if the PC version uses Live servers, i.e. Shadowrun but since Blizzard uses their own servers and the PS3, unlike the 360 is allowed to use 3rd party servers.

However if it were coming to consoles it would be guaranteed to be PS3/360. If it was to have cross platform play I am sure something between Blizzard and MS could be worked out (a la EA).

I bought the first two for the pc and will do so for the third. Playing D3 on a game pad would just feel weird to me at least

Also we all know that this game is going to get mad mods on the pc and MS is against letting peeps do mod work on the 360 but I'm not sure on how Sony feels about user created mods on the PS3. The best part of D2 was all the user created content like in Forgot Realms NWN.

A fair conclusion would take into account that PS3 allows keyboard and mouse, mods, free online etc.
It would take into account that it's a MUCH more open system.
It would take into account that Shadowrun is a failure, but also a 1st party Microsoft game (but that's a bit redundant). Meaning, MS had a huge hand in cross platform, but it still sucked.

Because of the software development tools allowing PC games to be ported to the 360. I also read that the new graphics engine won't be dependant on DirectX 10. So how is this not possible. BattleNet is free and I am sure Microsoft can work out an agreement similar to the way EA uses it's own servers, or similar to the way the Final Fantasy Online game works with it's own servers.

Don't post about things you know nothing about. It's an rpg done in real time from an overhead perspective. Not a real time strategy game. The RTS game's Blizzard made are Warcraft and Starcraft. Just so you know the 360 has proven this generation that RTS games can be done on consoles with controllers. Seeing as how Diablo 3 is an rpg and not an rts it should be even easier to make it work with a controller.

But I know people are going to hit disagree because I like the 360 so go on. Hit it. Hit it hard f*ckers. You guys can't argue with facts so instead you take bubbles like a bunch of little kids who cry when they don't get thier way.

If they're smart at all, they'll put this game on PS3.

Native USB keyboard and mouse support, and open-type network....Sony would have no problem with letting gamers log into battle.net through the PS3.

I really hope Blizzard makes this leap of faith.

My fellow gamers, the thing to keep in mind is that in this industry, developers/publishers know how to generate hype. Here we are in the forums fighting one another about Diablo 3 (PC) to also come to either PS3 or X360. Currenlty, all we know is the game is being built for the PC, which is the system Blizzard has embraced for many years now - that's were their development efforts and resources are. Therefore, until Blizzard makes an official statement regarding a console version, Diablo 3 is a PC exclusive. Maybe after release will Blizzard explore or protoype a console version of their game (on either or both PS3/X360.

On PC, an OPEN, FREE GAMING NETWORK, Diablo costs NOTHING to play over Battle.net. What makes you think that Blizzard would go from that, to making its console players pay 50 dollars a year to play Diablo 3 on the 360, when people could play it on PS3 which also an OPEN, FREE GAMING NETWORK? Not to mention the fact that PS3 easily supports USB mouse and keyboard, putting the console players on an even field with PC players as far as playability goes.

Just a minor detail I think some people are overlooking...

Anyway, I still don't think that Blizzard would bring this game to the console in the first place. It's a PC game by heart, and I don't think they want to go and upset their fanbase by spreading this game around to consoles. That's just my take on things anyway.

There will never be a console version of any Blizzard games. Its time to accept that fact. They sell too well on the PC for them to even care. Plus they'll have to change the controls and thus the gameplay to make Diablo 3 work on the console. Being the perfectionist that they are, and considering the fact that Diablo 3 took over five years to develop, the console version should be coming in 10 years.

wonder if Blizzard has any overweight ppl the brats can focus their anger towards. someone at Blizzard needs to be called fat and lazy. i mean they obviously cant program and is a horrible developer if they dont make console versions!

guys I just want to say something really quick, regardless that the PS3 has Mouse and KB support Blizzard would still have to make a control scheme that works with the controller.

Also I doubt this very much, neither console is going to get it.

I would love to play it on PS3, because D3 seemed very good. Games like Baldur`s Gate: Dark Alliance and it`s sequel was very fun on the PS2 (if a bit repetitive at times), so they don`t need M and K, even though it would be appreciated, since Diablo has more spells etc than Dark Alliance.

come to. Honestly, this game is sooo awesome, I hope it comes to the freaking Wii as well. I loved getting to play Diablo 1 on PS1. It's what got me into the series. I ended out playing Diablo 2 on PC (which I never do) because of it. It would be sweet to play Diablo 3 on any console.

Since Diablo works wonders with keyboard and mouse..
And since PS3 is the only next gen console that has keyboard and mouse compatibility...

along with Sony being cool about open networks,such as konami using there own for MGO,Battle.net would use there's.Sony wouldnt care.And blizzard would be happy.

i wouldnt be surprised if sony was already working out a deal with them.

PS3 with keyboard/mouse support. Unreal Tournament 3 already has this, as well as the ability to play against PC players I believe. This wouldn't be too big of a deal for implementation. Hell even if they REQUIRED kb/m support to play it on PS3 people could just go out and buy some cheap ones to play on, or they could just package the game with a Diablo keyboard and mouse for $20 extra and I'm sure they would sell well :P

And who here thinks the only reason they would consider developing for consoles would be the 360? And whys that? Because its very similar to PC coding. A PS3 version is sadly unlikely....
