PSM3 Preview: Alpha Protocol

Look out Bond, Sega's action RPG is 2009's new super-agent...

Fairly or not, RPGs are fatally associated with orcs, aliens and bearded wizards. Not everyone likes the idea of having to level-up characters over 50 hours, or learn different trades just to be a Level 6 cobbler. Sega's Alpha Protocol, however, is a 'stealth' RPG, applying its stat-heavy mechanics and micro-management in a world anyone can relate to - modern day espionage; in an action adventure where you can be Bourne, Bond and Bauer all at once.

Is always music to my ears

-EvoAnubis-6437d ago

This game has promise. I've had my eye on it ever since that Game Informer story. Hopefully it's a good one.....I need a decent RPG. Fallout 3 is coming up, but I want more.

MK_Red6437d ago

Definitly interested in this one since Obsidian is mostly made of makers of Fallout 1 and 2.

mixture of Bourne, Bond and Bauer..... can be pretty good or pretty crap... love the bourne game but it was very short ...
looking forward to the gameplay ...

One of the few 7th gen game that I'll full heartedly support for a remake.
Its a very unique RPG and deserves its faults fixed the 2nd time.

TheNamelessOne595d ago

I would be so for this. Alpha Protocol is the definition of a diamond in the rough. Before being acquired by Microsoft, Obsidian presented their ideas for a sequel, multiple times, but were always shot down. Even something simple like a remaster is very unlikely.

Still have a physical copy for my PS3. Clunky at times but I had a lot of fun with it back in the day.

Had some issues but that game was brilliant.

Spec Ops: The Line was super dark.

Incredible story.

SheenuTheLegend720d ago

all the games in the above list are bang on. this is the only reason we need backwards compatibility and physical presense of games for the upcoming future, no matter what.

Yi-Long721d ago

Honorable mention to the excellent Driveclub, one of the best racing games of all-time and one of my favourite games ever.

melons721d ago

yes! incredible rain effects; so good to drive along in rain with your Spotify playlist blaring

Skuletor721d ago

I really wanted a MotorStorm using the same engine, Driveclub is easily one of the best looking games on PS4 and I'm surprised they didn't even give it a PS4 Pro patch.

ravens52720d ago

Yes indeed. May just install it on my PS5. You know, physical copy and all.

monkey602720d ago

I adored Driveclub and the Bike expansion. I also loved Motorstorm. Evolution shutting down was a crime

Outrun Online Arcade, Sega Rally Online Arcade, After Burner Climax... all good stuff. I keep my 360 hooked up to play these as well as the TMNT games that were also delisted.

Skuletor721d ago

I have quite a few of these. Timed licenses suck.

Terry_B721d ago (Edited 721d ago )

wow...I have all of them except the Nintendo ones either in physical or digital version.

Also..Deadpool the Game is missing on that list.
