Pay to win what?

If you're going to try and compete in Tournaments, then yeah, you'll probably need a few Legendary cards so you can beat or push the meta. I see nothing wrong with that. But every card is obtainable over a long enough timeline.

If you're going for Legendary every month, then no... You don't need to spend anything.

If people want all cards now, then they have to pay - the entitled 'I only lost cus the other guy must have spent money' is an immature argument only used by whiners and bad losers.

If people don't pay, then they are likely to hit a ceiling that is as much dictated by their skill as it is their deck quality. People with a lot of skill - like TrumpSC - have shown multiple times that they can get to Legendary in one month without paying a penny.

Would your average player be able to do that? Unlikely - and that's a GOOD thing, as it shows skill is more important than money.

I've bought plenty of packs - not because I want to win at any cost, but because I like opening the packs. I still suck at the game but have almost every card. I may win slightly more because I can build a meta deck - but I hate playing like that as the meta has no interest. beating the meta is far more fun.
