BlizzCon 2014: 4 Things That BlizzCon Did Right

MMOGames writes: "Blizzcon is one of the biggest self-proclaimed nerd conventions in the world—a place where names like Yrel, Maraad, and Vol’jin mean something more than Tolkien-esque sneeze word nonsense, where orcs and humans live together in terse, uncomfortable harmony and shouts of “For the Alliance!” and “For the Horde!” are muffled only by screams of “For Azeroth!” It is a refuge for Warcraft, Starcraft, and Diablo players that allows best friends to meet face-to-face for the first time. BlizzCon 2014 Overwatch Origins Panel Transcript

Blizzplanet transcribed the Overwatch Origins panel for those who weren't able to attend nor watched the DirecTV livestream.

The developers discussed the early conceptualization of the game, and the multiple heroes. Twelve heroes were playable at the event, and two more haven't been unveiled yet. In addition, there are many more heroes currently in development that haven't been revealed.

Chris Metzen said "We don’t have anything to announce yet, we have a lot of plans that way, obviously you guys saw the cinematic yesterday which is something we just absolutely love; well we want to do more of that, we want to have deep rich stories that are fun and tug on your heart strings and just literally kick butt and show you the bigger tapestry of this world and how some of these kooky characters relate; what they think about each other, are there enmities, how do the villains play into this whole thing?"

The team-based shooter Overwatch beta is slated to start this Fall 2015.
