GTA V PS4 Review - A Worthy Second Buy - The Games Cabin

"GTA V released just over a year ago to rave reviews from critics. More importantly, players found the re-imagining of San Andreas the best yet with its wealth of single-player content and a healthy online offering.

A year on and Rockstar is set to release GTA V for the PS4 and Xbox One, with a PC release slated for early 2015. So the question is; is GTA V worth buying twice? Or is this just an unashamed blatant money-grabbing attempt by Rockstar?"

This game looks great can't wait to get it.

3-4-54080d ago (Edited 4080d ago )

Bought this on Xbox 360 last year and after playing it for 7-8 days I returned it.

I was expecting more, and the physics being less realistic than GTA 4's was a HUGE turn off for me.

I still played the story all the way through and tried out the multiplayer for a day or so.

* I'm definitely considering giving this game a 2nd shot though, as it's always nice to have a GTA game around when friends are over.

We aren't getting a new one for like 4-5 years at least so might as well try and enjoy this one.

The Graphics are definitely much improved.

I wonder if they made the driving physics more like GTA4?

FPS_D3TH4080d ago (Edited 4080d ago )

No. The physics in GTA 4 driving were abysmal and sluggish. I'll take midnight clubs addition to the series and gta5 driving physics any day of the week. Mind you I would love to see soft body physics in a GTA game.

spacedelete4079d ago

how can you not have fun in an open world game ? you make the fun not the game. i hope you enjoy it this time as theres barely any good games at the moment.

SilentSolid4079d ago (Edited 4079d ago )

The big turn of for me was the car physics and the horrible framerate. Just couldn't enjoy it. I really hoped they would try to improve on gta 4 more realistic car physics instead of going completely arcade. really disappointing.
Might buy the pc version next year tho. we'll see.

Chris5584079d ago

3-4-5 do you hate fun? gta 4 driving was sooo boring and the game meeeh

thekhurg4079d ago

To anyone that's played GTA 5 (preferably for a lot of hours).

How does the character swapping work? Personally, I don't like the idea and it's the main reason why I didn't get the game last gen when I had the chance. I like to play just one character in my games for the "immersive" aspect.

Can the game be completed from beginning to end with just one of the characters or are you forced to jump around?

Jaces4079d ago

@theKhurg

You have to switch between characters to progress through the story fully. Don't let that turn you off though, it adds a whole new depth to experience different missions and stories from different points of views.

That and it's always fun to see where the last character you played is at in the world and what they're doing. This is the best GTA since San Andreas imo.

mll094079d ago

@theKhurg

What Jaces said. Don't let it put you off, character switching adds to the experience. I was sceptical of it like you were and grew to love it. It'd be a shame if you missed out on GTA V for that sole reason.

Not gonna pay $70 for a game I already own, just with better graphics and a few more features.

ZombieKiller4080d ago

2 more days! Review or not, this game was awesome and I'm counting down the time till I get it! (see?)

Majin-vegeta4080d ago (Edited 4080d ago )

@Below wth has that got to do with this??Stay on topic will ya?

Sketchy_Galore4080d ago

Golden Axe 3 was a major disappointment.

DawginTow14080d ago

My dinner was only so-so :(

Conzul4080d ago

The stars aren't as twinkley as I remember....

PersonMan4080d ago

I disagree. Driveclub was amazing. I still play it almost every day. Even just doing random races is fun.

GTgamer4079d ago

Annnnnnnnnd lemme guess you never played DC cause its far from meh and how the hell did you bring DC into a GTAV article smfh.

kingPoS4079d ago

You must of not been playing it with a wheel. It's mad fun with one. It put nearly every button on my dfgt to use. I feel bad for you if you had to make due with a controller.

Last time I tired, I had to settle for automatic instead of manual, and I still didn't have enough buttons left over.

''Los Santos gets a fresh injection of life with draw-distances improved upon the already impressive ones on the PS3/Xbox 360 whilst the frame-rate is as steady as you could wish for. The original release saw more than a few stutters when the action got heavy, but the power under the hood of the PS4 ensures a stable and reliable experience, even if there are a few dips from time to time it’s almost negligible.''

Just what I wanted to hear;)

5. Hookers in GTA

PlayStation Store’s top downloads of 2025

O'Dell Harmon Jr. writes: "Before we say goodbye to 2025, let’s take a look back and see what were the most downloaded games of the year. It was a great time for sports, shooters, and some new PlayStation VR2 games. Sports favorites topped the charts in US/Canada and EU, with NBA 2K26 and EA Sports FC26, respectively.

Juggernaut GTA V found a home in the top three for both regions, with new 2025 release Battlefield 6 claiming second place in the US. Fortnite took top place for free-to-play games, and Beat Saber continues its PS VR2 success."

FH5 4th in Europe compared to North America 14th. Not surprising.

LucasRuinedChildhood1d 16h ago

I think it shows how shortsighted it was for Sony to let go of Evolution and not get them to make some sort of competitor (open world Driveclub?) 10 years ago.

bionicstar1d 9h ago (Edited 1d 9h ago )

its a hard bet to make. hindsight is always 20/20.

Christopher1d 6h ago

After Driveclub's reception, hard to say it would have done well enough to compete. It's easy to dream of such a thing, but to make it happen? It's taken how long for CoD to be dethroned? And it was dethroned by Hogwart's Legacy and has gained it right back just the next year.

It’s funny to watch the only games EU and USA agree on was Minecraft and back ops 7 both regions on 6 and 7 spot respectively other than that FIFA rules EU

gold_drake1d 6h ago

yeh, football is really popular here in europe ha

I would like to see a list that has both free to play and paid games together, but at least we have this.

To this day GTA5 is a top downloaded game and it makes me wonder if the industry is really ready for GTA6. I imagine almost nothing else will sell during that game's release window.

PlayStation and Xbox's most-played games of 2025 were the same as 2024's in the US, data suggests

Another night of Fortnite with the boys then?

I’ve never played Fortnite GTAV or CoD BO7 but I do own GTAV for PS4/5 because I got them cheap.

gold_drake9d ago

i think we should either take those games out, or make a singleplayer list too ha

badboyz099d ago

I still play gta V alot. The others nah.

Popsicle9d ago

This is why we can’t have nice things.

Tacoboto9d ago

What exactly are we not getting?

Did we not just have a 2025 filled with nice games like...

Silksong, Doom TDA, Expedition 33, Kingdom Come Deliverance 2, Ghost of Yotei, Dispatch, Split Fiction, Hades 2, DK Bananza, and so many more?

Popsicle9d ago

Agree that all you just posted are great games. Expedition 33 is one of my favorites. Spent a large chunk of time on BG3 in 2023. Another for my all-time list.

My point though not well articulated in the OG post is that we would get more of the games of the quality you mentioned if so many valuable resources were not allocated to FTP slop and/or heavy monetization schemes. Some of what used to be my favorite franchises have been ruined by them.

To sum it up, I would like to see games like 33 outperform the profits made by games like Fortnite so more resources are allocated to great games. When heavily monetized FTP games are at the top of the list, we end up being stuck with a significant chunk of games that are not good. Or worst case scenario games that spend years in development, but get cancelled due to industry trend chasing.

cloganart9d ago

Such a pessimistic view. This year gave so many good games.

Christopher9d ago

Popsicle, I actually think we're getting more great games because of the slop. Developers are seeing that people aren't happy and taking advantage of big AAA studios not delivering for people.

Popsicle9d ago (Edited 9d ago )

Perhaps, and I hope you’re right. A shift is needed IMO

Modders are bringing GTA: San Andreas to GTA 5's RAGE Engine

I'm surprised modders haven't taken GTA 3, Vice City and San Andreas and connected them as one big game. I remember GTA 3, you had to complete so much of the game to open up the other part of the city, which was connected by a bridge, although there was a flying car cheat.
