Doesn't change the fact they don't belong in a $60 game

Kurisu4210d ago

Maybe so, but they're not forced. Some people have more money than sense, though, and devs will take advantage of this if people continue to buy in to it.

GameSpawn4209d ago (Edited 4209d ago )

Yep. It's paid for cheats people. Ubi was not the first to do this - EA did this when the PS3 launched. Too lazy to play the game, pay us money to unlock everything now and beat the game for you.

I don't get the mentality of this (people actually spending money for these cheats) because you essentially just gave free money to the publisher and also took ANY sense of accomplishment out of really playing the game and actually earning any of those rewards with your own work JUST because of laziness and a disposable income.

Honestly, of ppl wanna drop x amount of money, be my guest.

I know though, that this is the 1st time many things will cost more to promote "easy" access.

NerdStalker4210d ago

that's ridiculous who the hell do these companies think they are trying to scam money out of people like this, awful

gorebago4210d ago

not even too far into the game the money just starts flowing... so I'm not where the scam lies outside of new players wanting good gear from the start...

hazelamy4210d ago

make the game free, and i'll be ok with microtransactions, though "micro" is a bit misleading.
hell, i will probably spend some money on some.

but on a game where they set the rrp at fifty or sixty quid?
they can go to hell.

and yes, it's optional, except they skew progression towards more and more grinding to make these transactions more attractive.

of course i'll be buying preowned, when the price has gone down considerably.

maybe they'll have actually finished making the game by then too.

BattleTorn4209d ago (Edited 4209d ago )

Buddy of mine said he spend $50 on microtransactions in AC:Unity - I called him insane. (funny cause I know he reads N4G)

Peacem8ker4209d ago

This is okay as long as they don't change the game so it takes a unreasonable amount of time to earn them in game. Which I'm sure is what will end up happening if it isn't like that already.

I can't sit here and act like I know these workers financial situations. And I'm sure nobody wakes up WANTING to go to court. But for the sake of the industry, I wish some of these types of cases made it to trial.

Settlements allow companies to continue to do whatever abusive practices they do. While the trials (should the company lose) would actually force real changes for the better.

But again, I'm not in these workers shoes and I can understand them not wanting to risk it.
