My favorite Aliens game also, having the three campaigns to play was great. Scaling walls as an alien waiting to ambush anyone that came too close.
Only played a little of the horde mode but was still fun.
Aliens Fireteam Elite was my GotY in 2021, single player was kinda bad but playing that game 3 player with friends was so good and really challenging on higher difficulties

While Capcom is still working on its Resident Evil series, I look back at the now-dead survival horror series from Bethesda, wondering why the series was left wide open, and yet still not revisited.
An OK horror series left behind. It had some great ideas, but it never knew how to play to its strengths. Instead, it came out like just another RE4 clone.
I would love for a third entry to come out, but it needs to learn to lean in on the psychological aspect and move away from the generic "pew pew" ideology at the center of the gameplay loop. It doesn't need to abandon it; it just needs to put it into better context, is all.
Also, try a first-person perspective instead. Too many 3rd-person games with nothing to offer but an avatar taking precious screen space. At least make it an actual option and not that janky-ass mess the second game pretended to have.

I played through most of the PS4 version of the game but stopped because another game came out. I bought it last year for PC with the intention of using the VR mod but haven't gotten around to setting it up. I am glad I waited.
Great game, even better in VR. A little drawn out by the end, but I hope we see CA do something a little different with the sequel.
Sweet. I also rebought this game on Steam for the purpose of VR. I'll have to give it another shot w full immersive controls. I had only tried it out briefly before.
It's funny this was never officially released at retail as a VR game, bc it feels so perfect for it!

Evil Within for me
It's not as scary but the thing is the game has a lot of variation in gameplay and level design. Alien Isolation doesn't have that, once you get so many hours in the fear of the Alien is gone and the levels start to look the same. Least with the Evil Within, minus it's crappy dialogue/voice acting, the game has a range of locations, enemies and on your toes moments.
Then you have the gaping plotholes in Alien, something you could easily miss but as a die hard Alien fan I just can't overlook them. If you are doing an Alien game and create plotholes then you obviously don't respect the source material enough.
Chapter 9 where you are in the mansion and every so often the screen would turn blue then BAM Ruvik would appear to chase you down, even if your in the middle of fight with other enemies. You can't get away from him unless you safely hide. That for me was something which got your heart racing, it reminded me of the Nemesis sections in RE3.
Hmmm...I hear that the "intimacy" of being alone with only one enemy is more tense than a hoard of enemies from ppl who've played Isolation.
