Tech Analysis: Halo 2 Anniversary

Eurogamer:
"Four major Halo remasters are included in The Master Chief Collection, but the Halo 2 Anniversary Edition is quite the package itself - a fitting tribute to a classic game celebrating its tenth anniversary this year. Saber Interactive returns from Halo Anniversary duties to handle the re-mastered campaign, while Certain Affinity, formed by ex-Bungie employee Max Hoberman, is tasked with remaking six of the game's multiplayer maps. On top of that, Blur Studio has recreated key cut-scenes as high-end CG renders, while 343 Industries facilitates the whole project. So what we have here is one game featuring three engines and four developers - five if you factor in Bungie's work on the original game. What could have been a disjointed mismatch of elements is anything but: the results are remarkable and the package is a significant leap over what was achieved with the original Halo's Anniversary release on Xbox 360."

I really despise when DF does these so far prior to launch. There are still patches coming before launch, really makes little sense to analyze now, perfect or not.

Sure, it is still a very positive wrap-up, but that doesn't change the fact that it is totally bogus to review the tech behind a game before the full finished product is even available.

Bigpappy4209d ago (Edited 4209d ago )

I do agree. It is becoming as though they are thinking people are coming to them to see if a game is worthy of their purchase, so they must present something. What they end up doing is actually a disservice, when they are not looking at the finally product to reach their conclusion.

This one is just a video comparison though, so no conclusions were made. No harm done here

livedeht4209d ago (Edited 4209d ago )

Lol, how did they play multiplayer without the day 1 patch ! Lol do u think the patch isn't done untill Tuesday ?! Lol the patch is Released to the public on Tuesday lolol just accept the game isn't perfect and move on Lmao !...btw I'm a day 1 buyer (even though I own them already lol)

Kayant4209d ago

Why exactly? How is it "bogus". Once a game is gold it is supposed to be finished. Not everyone has internet to be downloading patches. In this day and age it's used by devs as a "scrapgoat" to finish a game. I mean look and recent examples like evil within and lords of the fallen. Some people will only even get to experience the "unfinished" version and it's perfectly valid for them to review it as such because the game is meant to be finished at that stage, as long as they update and go back to it after at compare it then it's fine.

livedeht4209d ago

Wow @ disagrees lol, I am referring to THIS specific situation where the MP and the day1 patch are one in the same lol. But disagree away ! Btw I thought we were discussing MCC not some other game Lmao @ situational truths !

Xbox 1 to Xbox One... Had a good laugh out of that.

NotAFanboyJustReal4209d ago

Man Halo 2 looks REALLY good for a decade old game.

akaFullMetal4209d ago (Edited 4209d ago )

Looks like the multiplayer/ campaign can drop to 52 fps but mostly holds a 60 FPS, so overall really good.

Elit3Nick4209d ago

it's due to limitations in the engine

wtopez4209d ago

Can't wait to play this on PC.

Foehammer4209d ago (Edited 4209d ago )

Unfortunately 343 has not given any indication about TMCC going to PC.

But don't worry, you can always play:

H1Z1
Planetside 2
No Mans Sky

all on PC, while you wait

Edit

@ KingIsBackBaby, I always feel a sense of pride when I see how excited gamers on other platforms are about X1 games.

So glad to see other games drawn to the great games on x1 you mentioned.

Hopefully you'll get something good to play on your platform of choice and then you can go to a thread about that game and talk about it.

Until then, thanks for your interest in X1 exclusives.

KingIsBackBaby4209d ago (Edited 4209d ago )

Can't wait to play sunset overdrive in glorious 1080p+ on Pc instead of piss poor 900p and below 30fps. :)
Qunatum Break will also look amazing on my beast of a rig. :)

@wtopez

Agreed mate. Can't wait to play halo the way it was meant to be played, on PC. Poor sales of xbone will surely force MS to release TMCC on PC.

otherZinc4209d ago (Edited 4209d ago )

LMAO, we'll said Foehammer.

I'll be playing some Splitscreen Campaign Co-op Tuesday morning before the kids go to school.

Hilarious, some want us to believe Co-op, Campaign Co-op, & 4 player Campaign Co-op are dead; no, some devs just can't do it.

beastModeOn4208d ago (Edited 4208d ago )

What BS are you on about? Lmao!

Qb, great game? Lmao! That whole grey shit? Time manipulation have been done dozens of times so I'll pass on this garbage. Lmao!
SSOD? That derpy ass kiddy game? Lmao!

You feeling proud of what exactly? Inferior hardware?
Piss poor graphics?
poor selection of games?
Kinect?<-- Lmao on this.

:^)

At the rate in which we have been getting them, and the selections such as TLOU and Horizon and other similarly unnecessary remasters, no.

In terms of reintroducing classics and making them available again at a reasonable price where as previously they were locked behind ridiculously priced physical copies, yes.

Luc20593d ago

agree with the Horizon but TLOU - I've never played it and the remaster it's quite impressive graphically so for someone who never played the original game it's a treat to enjoy such quality!

There a plenty of gamers who switch platforms and so I guess the remasters are meant for those

There is a new crop of gamers every generation that didn’t play the originals and some of us older games want remasters of older games to play them on current hardware. Overall I say yes it is good. Nobody is forced to buy them.
They can also gauge interest for older IP with remasters and it could lead to a new game in the series. Remasters aren’t for everyone but no game is anyway

darthv72593d ago

Chances are their parents did... and may still have them. That's how I introduced my kids to gaming. They played what I had and worked their way up. They learn to appreciate them better that way.

andy85593d ago

I don't have an issue if they don't take away from developing new games. It's always nice to revisit a game you loved in the past with extra shine

gold_drake593d ago

remasters of older games absolutely.

but i dont see how a 4 year old game needs a ... Remaster. a upgrade update should do the trick

bjt i guess for newer players its a good option.
