I haven't seen the need for a 4k screen yet (or rather a reason to spend that much on one but its getting there slowly) and am still using 2 4gb 680s (if had 2gb ones probably upgrade to 900 series now--waiting for something else 6-8+ though).

I'm glad the 680 is recommended however as 2 (assuming decent sli settings) I should be fine and still be happy with my rig till at least W3 next year. Everything else is newer but with the 4gb 680s I haven't seen a need to upgrade them really.

Actually, 4K monitors are pretty cheap now. You can pick one up for £400/$500. And not no-name brand ones either.

My Seiki 39" is coming today. $299 after $40 rebate.

Of course it only does 30hz at 4k, with the newer ones capable of doing 60hz (but some are having trouble getting them to work). Also none of the 4k being sold NOW or NEXT YEAR are future proof in anyway.

ALL of them are going to be obsolete in terms of content. They are going to need the higher bit rate to support Netflix, something most of them don't now. They need to come out with a better HDCP standard. Plus I want a 120hz 4k (and thus a new standard and HDMI/Display port standard also need to be made).

So in other words, ALL 4ktv's are technically a waste of money and will be for the next couple of years.

Therefore, if you want one, you might as well get a cheap one, like the Seiki, and then be able to wait for the good ones to come out...and drop in price around 2018 or so. Though Seiki also seems to be getting ready to release a new one that should do 60hz for $499 in a few months. So get a cheap 4k, because they are ALL obsolete soon.

But yeah... my GTX 970 can't wait to play this game.

Oh and since this Seiki can also natively do 120hz (like a monitor, no interpolation) I'll also try to get it going at 120hz at 1080p. Or 1440p/60.

Twignberries4211d ago

Sure, there's no NEED for a 4k screen.. But have you ever actually played games at 4k before? To answer that question myself, you simply wouldn't say that if you had.

Unfortunately you can't UNSEE 4k gaming :)

Mr Tretton4212d ago

No Steam + Uplay required = No buy.

Edito4212d ago

Sad i don't think my Dell Inspiron 7537 Will run this game.

Braid4212d ago

"GTX 680 or R9 290X"

Are you kidding? These two cards are not even in the same segment. :/

sourav934212d ago

I know, right?! That made me lol.

kingduqc4212d ago (Edited 4212d ago )

Wake the fuck up... games requirement are garbage since as far as i can remember. Every one freak out about those these days but they are all far from being close to reality. They usually check new gpus and tell you those are recomanded. Cpu are even worst because they even recommend i7 over i5.

jmc88884212d ago

Yeah they used to be pretty spot on in the 80's. If you had 48k and it said 64k, you were SOL.

But for the past 15-20 years, many of those requirements are more like suggestions.

I still remember getting a madden back in 2004 or so which said I needed a minimum 850mhz PIII, and I still had a 400mhz PII, and it still worked and got me 13-25 FPS.

kingduqc4211d ago

80's a bit too far for me, I remember late 90's and tehy where off... Nowadays they don't even try.

late but still a good move, oobi

InUrFoxHole384d ago

Seriously, it's great to see devs add things to older games.

OhReginald385d ago

Sony....you're really letting ubisoft out of all all companies to out class you??? Give us the bloondborne 60 fps patch....ffs

dantesparda385d ago

I second this (Bloodborne 60fps) plus damn, Ubisoft, you're doing great but now the last thing I want youi to do is mae Far Cry Primal 60fps and AC Unity

Profchaos385d ago

Everytime someone asks for a bloodborne patch it gets delayed 1 day.

ETA next century

I_am_Batman384d ago

They know it's gonna cost them sales of the inevitable Remake that'll probably come around the PS6 launch.

raWfodog385d ago

Good news for when, or If, I ever play it. It’s waaay down on my backlog list lol.

P_Bomb385d ago

I like these 60fps patches. Hoping they’ll do Ghost Recon Wildlands someday.

Yi-Long385d ago

Kudos to Ubisoft for once again going back to older titles and then offering a nice upgrade for free. I know the company gets a lot of criticism, in quite a few cases understandable and justified, but in this area of contintued post-launch support for their SP games, they deserve some credit.

Ubisoft Removes Nudity in Silent Far Cry 4 Update (New Info: Changes Reverted)

Update: Ubisoft has acknowledged that the Japanese version of the game, which includes regional censorship, was mistakenly released globally. The company says it has reverted these changes in the game's worldwide branch.

Ubisoft has quietly removed nudity from Far Cry 4 in a recent update, sparking speculation about Tencent’s growing influence on the publisher.

You can murder, mame, and viciously attack people, but anything that deals with showing a body in a natural state whether for titillation or narrative, is some truly terrible thing. We are so weird with our puritan thought process. Feed our bloodlust and fuel our enjoyment for entertainment of simulating acts of harm and murder, but god forbid you see digitized TnA. It will never make sense to me.

Rebel_Scum409d ago

tbh even if they did remove it, it doesnt matter. I dont even remember when there was nudity in the game. If it was there it was so inconsequential.

B5R409d ago

Agreed. It absolutely makes no sense

Also, even though Ubisoft reverted the changes that removed nudity, there's the bigger issue of developers being able to make large changes to the game you paid for whenever they want.

Stellar Blade comes to mind. This is why buying physical is the way to go.

Played and enjoyed Far Cry, Far Cry 3 and 4 campaigns .

-Foxtrot796d ago

4 wasn’t so bad

Pagan Min was pretty entertaining

Skuletor796d ago

Yeah, 4 was good, was hard choosing which Golden Dawn member to side with, when they were both pieces of sh!t.
I've beaten all the main entries except 2 and 6, ended up uninstalling 6 to download something else instead.

Profchaos796d ago

I'd love a far cry pack with the original PC game (not the half assed port on ps360) instincts, predator even a port of far cry 2 to modern consoles back when these games had their own identity and weren't far cry 3 cut and pastel

Demetrius796d ago

Still one of my most favorite franchises along with assassins creed

banger88796d ago (Edited 796d ago )

Same here, I don't know why these games get so much hate. I've thoroughly enjoyed every single one of them, with only a couple of exceptions. I wish they'd hurry up and announce Far Cry 7. The only thing I'm concerned about is the rumoured time limit.
