I'm not feeling the whole create your own character for JRPG with a supposedly storyline to it.

R00bot4208d ago

Yeah I'm not sure about it either, but I think we should wait until we get more info on the game to judge it. It worked with Mass Effect... Somewhat...

Concertoine4208d ago

I think the move from a rounded, enjoyable protagonist in Xenoblade Chroniclesto the create-your-own mute in X is a huge step back.

juaburg914208d ago

I seriously dont see how somebody can disagree with you. That is also the biggest thing that has been bothering me. With Xeno, you had all these beautiful interactions between the characters. The group became one and each character, including Shulk, had his/her own voice which made them who they are. The interaction made you feel as if you, as the player, were actually part of the gang.

Now, it seems you are playing as a mute character... It takes a sense of interaction, and immersion away from the experience.

Over than that, the game looks so incredibly beautiful. I really can't wait to get my hands on this game.

Qrphe4208d ago

Plots always take a hit when main characters aren't designed by the writer. I know it sucks for those looking for an "epic" JRPG story but at least we know their focus is 100% gameplay.

TheOtherVitaOwner4208d ago

The e3 2014 trailer should be a good indicator that the story won't be suffering from the customisable protagonist.

DeusEx-Machina4204d ago

I don't know if it's a step back, but it certainly doesn't make telling a story easier.

As said below, I'll give Monolith soft the benefit of the doubt though.

(Interestingly, Shulk was originally intended as a silent protagonist too. But they changed their mind at some point during development. So in this respect it technically really is a "step back")

If any man knows good stories its Tetsuya Takahashi trust them, put your faith in them. Monolith knows what they are doing.

Being able to create my character makes it feel more like I'm there. So I'm cool with it.

Can't wait to play.

DeusEx-Machina4204d ago

I agree. But I'll give them the benefit of the doubt. If anyone can pull this off, it's Tetsuya Takahashi.

Playing it right now! It is awesome! Good thing I held myself back from buying this last year. Now I can't wait for XC2 and XC3 to have the same enhancements and upgrade.

repsahj82d ago (Edited 82d ago )

And yes, even XC1. But I haven't tried and owed it yet.

Vits82d ago (Edited 82d ago )

Honestly, it’s kind of bizarre how rough native Switch players had it with this game for years. Aside from the original Wii U release, Xenoblade has pretty much been a series that felt better on emulators than on the actual hardware, mainly because of the blurry image quality and unstable frame rates.

It’s good to finally see an official version of the game that doesn’t look terrible and apparently is stable.

ABizzel182d ago

This is exactly why hardware matters to a decent extent.

It effectively took a 900p@30fps, maxed it to 1080p, then used DLSS to upscale it 4x in resolution to render at 4K, while also doubling frame rate.

I am waiting for a physical copy.

Nice! Almost 2 months waiting is not that long.

Hmmm interesting. Hopefully true, liking the slowly but surely partnership between the big 3. Just imagine all the xenoblade games officially on pc. I think mcsft going 3rd party but still making consoles fits them.

Xenoblade chronicles X is not there

Either removed or the picture shown was edited, but it is currently not there

NettosGameRoom345d ago

You can still view it using the internet archive!

TheColbertinator345d ago

This is good. Real good if Nintendo is smart to capitalize.

jznrpg345d ago

I would bet a lot of money it’s not happening

GotGame81887d ago

I don't see this happening. Nintendo has said the "Only place to play a Nintendo game, will be on a Nintendo console!". Yes I know people are using emulators, but that isn't what Nintendo intended.

MAYBE, if Nintendo does decide to port X over, it's because it is an Xenoblade game that is stand alone.

X, is my favorite Xenoblade game in the Series, because of Skells" flying your Skell and battling with them feels great!
