Sony Sees Need to Focus on PSP Development

"As Sony sees it, they're biggest issue with PSP development is not that third-party games aren't successful (actually, most of the handheld's most beloved games come from third parties), but rather than Sony itself hasn't focused enough on the system and that the company must remain agile in continuing to pursue third-party developers."

crisis core is keeping me busy but i must admit i have had the psp for 2 years and only got 4 games...

I know a lot of people like that... A friend of mine loved his when it came out but he hasn't even touched it in a while...

The PSP needs something, it's not going to maintain any sort of momentum unless some more solid games come out.

And its from a 3rd party, then there is God of War which is one of the best games this year.

the one hand held in problems in the nds the kiddie toy had zero AAAs last year and it has nothing for the future,
having a 1/2 price tag isnt going to save it long, look at Japan PSP is destroying everything.

the only things ive been useing on it is everything but games (internet,mp3,video).It is an awesome handheld but im too busy spending $60 here & there on new games for my Xbox 360 I dont really have time to play games on my PSP.I mean with all the PSP piracy going on whats the point of spending $40 on a PSP when theres ways of getting them for free.

ThanatosDMC6546d ago

If it's only $20 and it's a quality game, i'd buy 'em. Yes, $65 for a PS3 game is all ready hard to manage... Yeah, i only work part time.

I don't agree with that. I WISH I could agree with that. But buying habits and customer opinions prove otherwise

We've seen developers in the AAA space try new things and ideas. More often than not, the customers aren't willing to give things a chance, or not enough people buy into the project for it to grow.

Creativity works better in the indie space because the budgets, pressures, and expectations aren't the same.

it's a nice idea and it worked during the PS2/PS3-era when AAA didn't cost hundreds of millions of dollars. smaller budgets and shorter development time left room for more creativity and more risk. a game didn't need to sell 4 million+ copies to break even. things are different now.

This is the guy who bragged about crunching his staff and having them work through the night. Crunch culture has lost more talent and done more damage to the industry than any other factor. Screw him.
