PS+ edition is like Dr Dre's Detox

Crazyglues4230d ago (Edited 4230d ago )

LoL... Let's hope they can get it out by Nov. / I think a lot of people are going to enjoy the game.

I told my Clan Beat My time - http://bitly.com/1tT3vKd - ON (Canada/TimeTrail/CayooshPoint ) And I'll give you $50 dollars right now, bet you none of them beat it, bet you can't beat it.

-But let's get Back on Topic-

I think once they get a chance to play the Plus version a lot of people will upgrade to full for $49

(bought the game day-one and I like it) it's not forza or GT5 but it's a fun racing game.

GTgamer4230d ago (Edited 4230d ago )

I own DC and it's a crap to of fun last night I was trying to master the Ariel atom the AI flipped my A** like three times mainly because the Ariel is a engine with wheels and has little to no handling and that's what I love about DC every car feels different just hope they hurry and smooth things out so the fans can get the free cars/tracks and wheather update and since next week we get update2.0 everyone will be able play their owns songs while racing.

Crazyglues4230d ago (Edited 4230d ago )

@ GTgamer

yeah I think they said an A.I fix is coming but I think it's after they get the server issues fixed..

-But yeah I agree with you, it's a lot of fun, the game has some little issues here and there, but I think once those things get fixed, people will find there's a real nice racing game under the hood.

amiga-man4230d ago (Edited 4230d ago )

The people actually playing this game are having a great time, I'm level 40 now and having a blast, the online is crazy fun, it's had it's issues which are being resolved, the vast majority of people hating on this game are people who have never played it and have no intention of doing so.

Anyone who enjoys racing will enjoy Driveclub.

GTgamer4230d ago (Edited 4230d ago )

@Crazyglues
They can fix certain parts of the A.I but I don't want them to take away the aggressiveness because last night I watched a A.I flip another A.I and I was in cockpit view it was amazing all I saw was smoke and sparks.

@amiga-man
What's your PSN

Oh Snap Face-Offs are working fully just finished a race.

Crazyglues4229d ago (Edited 4229d ago )

@ GTgamer

Trust me GTgamer I agree with you, I love drive club, I wouldn't change the A.I but they did talk about a patch.. So I was just reporting.

Me I'm loving the game, if I could add anything I would rather they work on making more races in single player and Get all aspects of online working, sending a challenge to a friend needs to be working, Replay's - It needs this so bad. (they say it's coming)

Weather is coming, and Photo-Mode --> on top of all that I personally need more cars, already unlocked everything, love the cars --> need more

I might just buy the season pass, But there will need to be new races with those new cars. The feel of the cars is really amazing, they have really got the feel of each car which is amazing.

I would love to add a few more key things that I think would make the game a must have - things like

1.Multi-player Time Trail. Two players, on one track, best time takes it.

The ability to turn off collision in Time Trials.

2. A Special garage, maybe 3 of them, (so each unlocked garage holds 4 cars) to park special cars you get, so like season pass cars - So let's say I get a Mclaren 650 spider, I can see that in the list of cars, but I can also go to the garage and see it up close, do photos, hear it start up. (I would love to see a video explaining the tech in the car, help you better understand how the car works and handles Example - https://www.youtube.com/wat...
Show me that in the game...)

Then let (people with the garage, so people who have the season pass) Take there car out back on a special track for becoming really good with driving the car.

I could do a whole blog post on things I would love to see in the game.. (maybe I might do that) But you get the idea..

What do you think it's missing /or needs to have..?

Ryan7414229d ago

Evo could very well be finished because of this mess. Sony can't afford any dead weight at the company anymore and Evo just became the fat that needs trimmed.

4229d ago
Gamer4life794229d ago

I couldn't turn down an open challenge and while it took me a few tries I managed to beat your time. I don't know how to post pictures but if you want I can send you a screenshot of my time. I got a 2:16.555 . If you want you can add me PSN asskckr98 and we can race. I'm always up for a challenge.

Good god no way, detox was raised to a hype level thats impossible to live up to. That would have been just as disappointing as his overpriced mediocre headphones

Dynasty20214229d ago

overpriced mediocre headphones, lol!

Wait are we talking about the official Sony ones for the PS4? Because they're laughably awful if the PS3s wireless version was anything to go by. No bass at all.

ChickenOfTheCaveMan4229d ago (Edited 4229d ago )

Actually Dre confirmed Detox will never come out and is replaced by another one...that will also likely not come out.

The PS+ edition will be out at some point, but the tease then maybe buy element won't longer be there. We'll see.

ovnipc4229d ago

All care to know about this game where it's the ps plus edition. I want to play the free one if i like it i will buy it.

VforVideogames4229d ago

Evolution Studios better say sorry.

t-hall7854229d ago

@Cloud comment of the day... no comment of the week. Good one.

NBT914229d ago (Edited 4229d ago )

lol.
Its The Last Guardian all over again! D:

LackTrue4K4229d ago

I already made my mind up, trading it in in November for Far-Cry!! Too late for simple updates when I can get a full running game.

mcjt4229d ago

Yea they both are myths

DeadlyFire4229d ago (Edited 4229d ago )

Well now that PS Share Play will be introduced on Tuesday. We could see DC+ waiting people playing some Driveclub through that while they wait if they have nice DC friends with the game.

PS+ edition should come soon even so. Every week seems to get better by a bit. I still wonder how they had an extra year of prep and still messed up. I still wanna give the game a good trial run before I consider it. I hope Driveclub survives and gets a sequel in the future. GT has never been my thing, but DC could be.

ramiuk14229d ago

haha, DETOX where the hell is that album??
i been waiting years for it.

i would prefer detox dropping to driveclub ps+ edition too

Lol.

No I just called his negative comment for what it was. It contributed nothing to the conversation and was just pointless and spiteful.

I'm all for people voicing their opinion in a mature and eloquent manner. That was just trolling, pure and simple.

mochachino4230d ago

Plus edition won't come out until after the holiday season to captilize on sales...err..due to server issues.

No_Limit4230d ago (Edited 4230d ago )

I want my Free PSN+ edition and want it soon! I felt like Sony had hoodwinked me into subscribing to a one year PSN+ subscription and the promised of a Free to Play racing game for over a year now. This is unacceptable that it is taking this long.

amiga-man4230d ago

You would seriously use your PS4 offline? and only signed up to PS+ for a free cut down version of Driveclub? that makes no sense.

No_Limit4230d ago (Edited 4230d ago )

Yes, my PS4 currently is reserved for single player offline games. I have MLB the Show, TLOU HD, Assassin's Creed IV, Tomb Raider, Shadow of Mordor, and NBA 2k15 on it and have Dragon Age, AC Unity and GTAV reserved for it as well. Those are games that don't require online and most suited for singer player. I subscribed to PSN+ with Driveclub in mind and it was on sale for $40. Still, my impulse buying did me in and I should have waited.

Driveclub: You Can See Aurora Borealis, Procedurally Generated Clouds; 30 FPS Will Be “Rock Solid”

No_Limit + 156d ago
"I would be a hypocrite to say 30fps for a next gen racer is a deal breaker because if Forza Horizon 2 is also at the frame rate, I can't say I'll pass it up becasue the first game was one of the best racer of last gen, even at 30fps. Since DriveClub does have a free PSN+ version, at least I can test drive it a bit to see what it got. "

I am glad you have the time to check my DC comment history. I have a new fan. (•ิ_•ิ)

SoapShoes4229d ago

If you exclusively play single player games why on earth would you pay $50 to get less than half of the game when you could pay $10 more and get the full game? PS+ edition is only a good deal for those who already have PS+ and/or people who intend to play online. You make no sense.

+ Show (1) more replyLast reply 4229d ago
medman4230d ago

@no limit
I'm primarily a single player gamer myself, but I would highly suggest you check out TLOU multiplayer, it's phenom. And when you pick up GTAV for your ps4, if you don't get into gta online, you'll be doing yourself a disservice. It doesn't hurt to try it, unless you just don't have access to online...the games I play multiplayer for I can list on one hand, but those are two of the few. And I'm the guy who used to buy Call of Duty for the single player, while never touching the multiplayer, so I understand.

Muzikguy4229d ago

I'm kind of in the same boat. My sub ran out and I'm not renewing. There's nothing I want to play online right now, all the games have just been terrible IMO. I'm not buying the new COD either. Now when it comes to single player games, there have been many great ones! The free games that have been given away have been disappointing and the share play feature isn't enough to get me to subscribe either. I'll just wait until better online games come out, but I'm more a SP game player anyway.

Hanuman4230d ago

Still don't care. Give us PS+ edition and we'll talk.

Hanuman4229d ago

I'm stuck with HALF a game I paid 40 Euro's (50,68U$) for. As far as Evolution is concerned; The people who paid full price are the most important right now. (Wich of course, is ridiculous) Well,... I wasn't even going to buy this game and now I'm double screwed because I like it!

Everyone's Talking About DriveClub Again, PS4's Underappreciated Racer

In this day and age, it’s rare we experience a warm fuzzy feeling when we boot up X (formerly known as Twitter, of course).

But the past few days have been lovely: our feed is full of people talking about DriveClub again.

The discussion started when someone posted a clip of the game and its infamous rain effects. The caption reads: “Still can’t believe this is a 12 year old game.”

darthv7250d ago

This was one I was hoping would have some kind of boost from the PS5. The devs locked that sucker so tight...

I play the PSVR one even though it doesn't look as good, because that one is 60fps.

fr0sty49d ago

To this day, there still hasn't been a game to pull off better rain effects.

Cacabunga49d ago

Evolution Studios.. another waste of talent

fr0sty49d ago

I interviewed them twice back in my gaming journalist days... Once at E3 2006 and again on a podcast about a year later. Really nice folks.

fr0sty49d ago (Edited 49d ago )

The guy we interviewed both times' name was Simon, I can't remember his last name, it was 20 years ago, but he was a really nice guy, and was very passionate about his job. It broke my heart when I saw Sony shuttered Evolution. I do hope they bring some of those folks back, but I remember another studio ended up hiring most of them back in those days, and they've been releasing new games since under that studio... Codemasters, maybe? I forgot which....

But the amount of talent that Sony has shut down over the years, it's disturbing. Psygnosis, Evolution, Zipper... just those three studios produced some of the most innovative games that PlayStation has ever seen... and those games need to be brought back.

Agent7549d ago

Driveclub VR was graphically tragic.

maximusprime_50d ago

If they were to release that game on the PlayStation 5, there would be absolutely no need for a remaster or a remake. The whole appeal of the original game was that it consistently exceeded people's expectations.

fr0sty49d ago

Higher rendering res and textures, higher framerate, maybe toss in some global illumination/ray tracing, but other than that, they could keep every polygon the same and it would still look absolutely incredible as a current gen title.

Reaper22_49d ago

That game has good graphics but bad AI, though.

Agent7549d ago

The AI was what I'd call aggressive, but superb to play.

Jin_Sakai50d ago

Sony should reassemble the team and make Driveclub 2. Driveclub was so ahead of its time it’s crazy.

lodossrage50d ago (Edited 50d ago )

This is what I hate about gamers sometimes

There is a segment of gaming communities that always want an old game to come back. But when the game(s) were in their prime, nobody supported them or not enough people supported them. Driveclub, Killzone, Resistance, etc all fit that profile.

I want Driveclub, Killzone, Resistence, and etc all back too. But I say that as someone that bought into, played, and own those games.

Too many people like to talk but not put up the money to support when it's needed. I even lump two of my own personal friends into that. I remember how one of them constantly said "I always wanted to play the Resistance games", yet never made an effort to buy any of them. No way that's an isolated event.

IanTH49d ago (Edited 49d ago )

There are certainly games that fit that description, but I'm not sure these are a good fit:

- Driveclub infamously launched in a truly terrible state. It had a central focus on online & social features, and those were broken for about 6+ months before people could reliably play it as intended. It was so bad that the PS Plus Edition was delayed, along with its companion app. It also released less than a year after the PS4 launch, so it had to deal with a smaller total of launch PS4 owners to sell to, and Driveclub's rough launch certainly did it no favors.
- Resistance got 3 main console entries, and one handheld title for the PSP and PS Vita. Killzone got 5 main console entries across 3 generations, and one handheld title for PSP and PS Vita. This was also the era of millions of shooters, especially of the First Person variety, & genre fatigue was getting heavier by the year. So I feel these did pretty good at 5 and 7 titles respectively, pointing to enough people showing up for at least a while.

I'm not saying people don't exist who fit that criteria for these games, but I also don't think they were the primary issue. I think after a solid break from the IPs, as well as a lessening of shooter oversaturation, these titles could find healthy audiences if they came out with new entries at this point.

Agent7549d ago

Killzone on the PS4 had the graphics, but the gameplay was tragic, I only rated Killzone 3, although the first game on the PS2 was decent. The Getaway was another game Sony canned, the sequel was so bad. Plenty of games need a sequel, the likes of Ridge Racer, Wipeout, Project Gotham, Wave Race and F-Zero have been retired. The racing genre these days, I'm sick of Turismo and Forza due to the same tracks and any other clones.

robtion49d ago

I think the original Motorstorm was the game that convinced me to buy a ps3. Way ahead of its time.

Storm2349d ago

I played the sh*t out of MotorStorm 1 and 2. Incredible games.

darthv7249d ago

Pacific Rift was the best of the bunch for me.

badz14948d ago

Pacific Rift for me is still the best off-road racer ever made

Agent7549d ago

Surprised Sony didn't release a collectio, but all they seem to do these days is release God of War and Uncharted collections. It kills me that I no longer have a PS3, so a collection would be awesome.

Classic PS4 Racer DriveClub Is Now a Decade Old

PushSquare:

DriveClub, the legendary PS4 racer from shuttered Runcorn studio Evolution, has such an interesting story.

Originally announced alongside the PS4, the game had been intended as a launch title – we even played it in a big London church Sony had rented to showcase the new system prior to its release.

Evolution was done dirty... DC is still the most stunning visual game of its generation. They certainly deserved better in the end.

VenomUK592d ago (Edited 592d ago )

DriveClub was pretty and I loved the experience of driving in the rain, it was immersive. I had some good races with people from an old forum, but at times I found it to be a bit boring. MotorStorm was such a fun game to play and I loved the controls - it would make sense to remaster that.

DarXyde592d ago

I'd give the visual showcase award of the last generation to The Order: 1886. That game was immaculate.

Uncharted 4 was also absolutely insane, and perhaps manages to use the PS4's power in extremely clever ways.

jznrpg592d ago

It didn’t get good reviews unfortunately

obidanshinobi592d ago

Cause the game was mediocre at best, and surpassed in pretty much every area by Forza Horizon 2.

IRetrouk592d ago

Apart from visuals, driving model, weather effects, only thing forza had was an open world...

Inverno592d ago (Edited 592d ago )

It's multiplayer component was the only thing struggling at launch but the game was still perfectly playable offline. Done dirty is an understatement because how many games after came out with broken online components that got a pass? Now games with an SP and MP get separate reviews for SP and MP smh! SONY shut them down as if Evo had been bleeding money instead of putting out great games. Their fate was undeserved and they were the targets of a media smear campaign due to that one trailer.

Loved it.
Now here's a game that would benefit from a remaster.
4K, 60 FPS
I'd buy it.

ravens52592d ago

Might have to fire it up. Got it day 1, it was great to me.

outsider1624592d ago

See? Another reason why physical is important. Going all digital will have you miss out games like this.

Gabrielmpf592d ago

I loved tackling the leaderboards. It's a shame they couldn't even keep them.

Yi-Long592d ago

Brilliant game, I really miss it, and it deserved so much better than what Sony did to it.
Most important reason I liked it; It was FUN. That’s it. The actual gameplay, throwing a car around corners, the challenging AI opponents, the entertaining tracks which were peak-design, etc etc, it was above all just FUN to play.

60FPS on PS5: Unofficial PS5 'FPS Boost' mods are radically improving PS4 back compat

Digital Foundry : Whether it's via FPS Boost or bespoke software upgrades, backwards compatibility on the current-gen consoles delivered an unexpected delight - the ability to liberate older console games from their 30fps limits, running them at 60 frames per second or even higher. FPS Boost did the business for Xbox Series consoles on an impressive range of titles, but there was always the sense that PS5 could do more. It's a hunch that checks out as a range of frame-rate unlocks are available for PS5, covering many must-have games - the major caveat being that only exploitable consoles running on older firmwares are invited to the party.

darthv72863d ago

you love to see new life being breathed into older titles but damn the process to get there. It should be automatic that these work for everyone... not just those who exploit their systems. Really wish Sony and MS would keep this program going officially.

Psychonaut85863d ago

Damn this sucks. I want this shit so bad, but I’m not jailbreaking my console. And frankly I shouldn’t have to. I’m not a tech person, but is it really that hard for developers to unlock the framerate? Or would that have to be a large patch?

dveio863d ago (Edited 863d ago )

"but is it really that hard for developers to unlock the framerate?"

I guess it's not.

But it has become a profitable business if you do so.

So no one would pay for only the framerate patched to being unlocked. So studios need to offer more than that.

But this would take more time, polishing and would cost more money. So they shy away, but won't unlock the framerate, either.

That's just my personal assumption. But from what I can comprehend technically, it shouldn't be difficult to unlock framerates via a patch for older games.

... if it hadn't became a business.

RaidenBlack863d ago (Edited 863d ago )

frame-rate unlock should be free ...
We've seen many devs offer free patches and updates to pretty old PC titles, even bonuses ... so why can't devs offer the frame unlock patch for free (in consultation with the platform-producers) for a title from just a generation earlier?

Einhander1972863d ago

RaidenBlack

"frame-rate unlock should be free ..."

Obviously the result of that thinking is that developers aren't even going to do it.

If they had been allowed to charge $5-10 you would see incentivized developers doing it way more often.

People just always want everything for free, but it's not free to make the patch, people have to code it then other people have to test it, and there will always be other costs involved.

If people want dollar store gaming then expect to get what you pay for.

shinoff2183862d ago (Edited 862d ago )

Raiden I might be wrong but last I thought it cost money to put patches out on consoles.

As far as me paying for it, I'm not all that interested tbh. Not enough to pay for it with older games, and newer games have been pretty decent about it for the most part.

dumahim863d ago

Sounds like the modder has to go in to make changes to unlock it on a game by game basis. "Simple" enough to do it unofficially, but to have it done officially, they need someone to go in a make that change, put out a patch and put it through certification, which I believe is not necessarily a cheap thing to do. It's questionable if going through this would then give them enough sales to make it worthwhile.

Notellin49d ago

If Microsoft boosted several hundred 360/XB1 to 60 FPS without patching the games I'm sure the modder and therefore also Sony could do the same.

But PlayStation gamers aren't really worthy of receiving those kind of free updates according to Sony and the community. You guys enjoy paying for really easy things like a FPS boost and kneeling down to lick the boots.

Inverno863d ago

Many games still have physics tied to framerate, i think it's cause they wouldn't want to go in and do anything extra. Then there's the 10 dollar upgrades they rather charge. The problem is that there's no compromise, cause if I could mod my PS4 and all I'd lose is online play then id jailbreak it immediately. Mods have done so much for PC games and they could do the same for consoles, but manufacturers hafto be willing to compromise.

shinoff2183862d ago

It's not to hard to do and there's youtube videos that break it down really well. ANyway most of us here arent able to break are console anyway due to being up to date on firmware from playing

+ Show (1) more replyLast reply 49d ago
Chocoburger863d ago

Yep, this sucks having to require a jailbreak for something that should be standard in our industry by now. I learned my lesson when PS4 was jailbroken and I didn't keep a console on low firmware for years, but now I'm holding onto two low firmware PS5s specifically because there are features I'll be able to do that you can't do on official firmware, so this will pay off for me soon enough.

Jin_Sakai863d ago

It should be a sin to let these games sit and be stuck at 30fps.

EazyC863d ago

RDR 2 not getting a 60FPS patch for PS5 was a crime.
