Splinter Cell 2015: 10 Essential Improvements It Must Have

WC: Luckily having been confirmed by Ubisoft a next-generation Splinter Cell is on the way, leading to fan-speculation kicking into overdrive as we ponder on everything from whether Ironside can return again – he’s almost 65 – to just how serious the game will take itself, and even if there’s more to be told about Fisher himself. Whatever happens the series itself has rarely faltered on the whole with fans sticking by it every step of the way, regardless of the sporadic direction changes.

10. NO!Keep Sam or I won't touch it.
9. Yes.
8. Absolutely.
7. Make it optional.
6. A BIG YES for me!
5. I don't really do MP so don't really care.
4. Again make this optional everyone has their own play style
3. Yes and no, don't go too QTE on us though.
2. HUGE YES! I'm a sg player bring this on.
1. This would be hard really, you'd have to have serveral story branches, AI at different locations, lots of different side quests etc it's doable but I don't think we're at a stage hardware wise where this vision is achievable

Yet another WhatCulture Click-Bait 10-page article.

These aren't 'articles', this isn't gaming 'journalism'. This is just click-bait to get people to click through ad-filled pages with 1 picture and 2 lines of text on each page.

These 'articles' don't belong on N4G.com.

TheStrokes4241d ago

It's like buying a GQ or FHM magazine. 20 pages of advertising before you get to anything worthwhile.

Splinter Cell will be great!

As long as it stays in line with:
Chaos Theory
Conviction
& some of Blacklist.
I'll be looking forward to this.

starchild4241d ago

Blacklist was the best, followed by Chaos Theory, in my opinion. Aside from the change in voice actors, everything about Blacklist was better.

I am incredibly happy that they are continuing with the series. I absolutely love the Splinter Cell games. I've spent hundreds of hours playing these games and they are easily some of the best stealth-action games around.

Tempest3174241d ago

What I dont understand is why everyone has been making a fuss about ironsides age...why does he have to do the motion capture? He can still do the voice acting while someone does the motion capture. Yet I have never seen this suggested as a solution.

This article is terrible...

ScottyHoss4241d ago

I saw the ten pages
"nope f*** you whatculture I'm done"

bauer0074241d ago

What possesses them to think people will actually read them, simply to gain a extra 9 pages of ads? :L

ScottyHoss4241d ago

10 times the profit per view, so unless 9/10 people refuse to read all pages they make more. and they do, because 9/10 will give into it out of curiosity. Best thing to do is put the list in a comment on here.

Glad to hear they're making a new one. Hopefully they make the story longer and better than blacklist. In my opinion they should bring Ironside back to voice fisher. I don't see why he can't voice act while someone younger does mocap. It's not like people will complain that the voice acting isnt believable. He has a legendary voice and it can't go wrong. I would also love if they give you the choice to put a balaclava on Sam. Other than that, the customization was pretty great in blacklist.

Ubisoft Worked on New Splinter Cell Game That Spiraled Into XDefiant Thanks to Live Service Goals

Ubisoft cancelled the new Splinter Cell project and shifted it into XDefiant, due to live service ambitions.

P_Bomb196d ago

“However, over time, Ubisoft lost interest in the Splinter Cell game and shifted it into something designed to compete with Call of Duty.”

Omfg.

Wonder how many times this kinda thing has happened. The games we lost.

1nsomniac195d ago

How can these people get it so wrong. People really want a new Splinter Cell. Is that because they want a game that plays like another game….. no, it’s because they want a Splinter Cell game that plays like… you guessed it, a splinter cell game. I really cannot comprehend how the people in this industry have become so utterly useless.

CrimsonWing69195d ago (Edited 195d ago )

I hate GaaS so much. Like the whole model, the purpose around why it exists, and how they literally can’t f*cking make a game without it just adds to the mess of it.

BlackCountryBob194d ago

Live service games aren’t for me, though I don’t hate on anyone who decides to try to develop one of these games. However, I really wish some developers would realise not all the games need to be live service.

While I loved the original Splinter Cell trilogy, and Double Agent was good too (everything after that less so), 20 years later it’s bad that Ubisoft hasn’t been able to produce a remake or decent sequel, but I’m even more confused that no other developer has been able to make a decent knock off / spiritual sequel to a series which was so beloved. Surely anyone who tried to Kickstarter a spiritual sequel would blow past their stretch targets in only a few days.

Software_Lover194d ago

Exactly. Just completely remake the first 3 Splinter Cell games with new (better) textures, better lighting, etc etc. Redo some of the cut scenes. Sell them as a trilogy. Make money. It's that simple.

BlackCountryBob193d ago

I can’t work out why they haven’t even done the cheap option of just porting the PS3 era HD Trilogy Collection to PS4, would surely be a licence to print money. While I’d love a proper remaster, especially to add HDR as that would really pop visually with the shadow / light detail, I would settle for being able to play on a modern system (I have a PS3 but the system itself is so sluggish, and the Sixaxis controller so poor, I would always choose a zippy modern port with a PS5 controller).

isarai194d ago

I also hate when a small but super talented studio gambles their livelyhood on a GAAA totle like remedy with firebreak and mucurysteam with spacelords, or united front with triad wars

BlackCountryBob193d ago

If it is a success then I imagine those small companies are now huge companies, but so rare it will happen. What I don’t get is artistically for the development team, once they launch a live service game and it beats the odds to become successful, those devs now are purely focused on how to get more from their players, maintain engagement and find a way to slot in brand partnerships. Have to imagine they would hope the success would mean they have more freedom in future projects, instead they become more creatively unfulfilled than ever

shinXseijuro194d ago

Last good splinter cell was conviction in 08 -09

Splinter Cell: Deathwatch Trailer

The new trailer for the game based series has been released.

Software_Lover281d ago

.................... Man, I thought it was a game. How can Ubisoft sit on this franchise for so long????

Garethvk281d ago

I think they are hoping this Jumpstart the interest in the franchise and brings new people to the game.

victorMaje281d ago

I clicked so fast I didn’t even notice the “a netflix series” in the thumbnail.

Garethvk281d ago

Ubisoft has a movie and television division and they haveban Assassin’s Creed project and others coming to hopefully increase the audiences for their franchises.

Noskypeno281d ago

They've been working on a remake for 5 years, and no updates since they said they're working on it. This and the Tomb Raider game that had a "sort of announcement with one concept art that it's in UE5" back in 2020 are really just taking longer than it needs to. Give us concept art or something. I enjoyed when devs like Bungie would give community updates on their projects and keep the community in the loop even if it's very vague like saying "our buddy Dave here is testing out this gun on this yet to be revealed monster in this secret location that we're working on".

SimpleSlave281d ago

After all these years, we get an animated show... 🙄

shinXseijuro281d ago

So it’s like conviction but animated
