Think of software as a utopian tool. "Thirty-three years ago the company was founded on the proposition that software would be important," says Gates. "Looking at the next decade, the value that will be created by software and popular software platforms will be greater than ever."
Gates takes what colleagues call a utopian view of software. He believes it can do anything. That means the revolution is just beginning. Says longtime Microsoft executive Craig Mundie: "Today Microsoft actually thinks about itself as just a software company - not a specific type of software company, not a PC software company, not a word-processor software company. And that has been many years in coming."

New report from Skillsearch found that 22% of those surveyed had been laid off within the past 12 months.

It's a step forward for Stop Killing Games.

The Callisto Protocol director thinks the solution involves the right people, the right timing, and perhaps a little bit of AI
I don't agree with that. I WISH I could agree with that. But buying habits and customer opinions prove otherwise
We've seen developers in the AAA space try new things and ideas. More often than not, the customers aren't willing to give things a chance, or not enough people buy into the project for it to grow.
Creativity works better in the indie space because the budgets, pressures, and expectations aren't the same.
it's a nice idea and it worked during the PS2/PS3-era when AAA didn't cost hundreds of millions of dollars. smaller budgets and shorter development time left room for more creativity and more risk. a game didn't need to sell 4 million+ copies to break even. things are different now.
This is the guy who bragged about crunching his staff and having them work through the night. Crunch culture has lost more talent and done more damage to the industry than any other factor. Screw him.
this cannot happen, the monopoly they would achieve would be insane....
MS would actually rule the world....wait scratch that...gates would rule the world....
O_O
ubunto needs to harry up and finish MS off

Yes, Bill Gates has a positive attitude when it comes to the possibilities software, but that doesn't seem to have helped Microsoft come out with an on-par quality product in quite a while, with the exception of Microsoft Games Studio, and Windows XP.
Actually, Bill Gates is an incredibly intelligent man. I heard him personally in an interview and was very impressed.
There is no doubt in my mind that MS will continue to lead the pack. In terms of innovation, Sharepoint is a great product and so is most of their other software prodcuts.
@dude_uk: let's wait 2-3 years from now and you will hail Vista as the greatest thing since XP. Everybody hated XP when 2000 was around and looked what happened. People just don't like changes!
