I prefer COD4 I was seriously addicted to that game until last month and i bought the game release day...I only played MGO for a few days then stopped, I was expecting the game to be more stealthy but instead its everyone running around with guns blasting eachother up, so when I walk around with a Knife im dead in 2 seconds and I dont like using guns in a game thats made for stealth...So MGO wasnt really good for me...

As much as I enjoy MGO, I still think CoD 4 is a better experience overall. MGO favor level grinders too much giving them a huge advantage much over real gamers with skills.

Any new CoD 4 players with enough skills and FPS experience can jump in and compete with a lvl 55 player. Guns and attachments can be picked up the game's best perks can be had in a few games.

In MGO a level 0 player have no chance against a level 5 player no matter how good he is and it'll take a long ass time to catchup. Higher levels can just hold down the trigger and spray with less recoil not to mention run circles around you with their faster running speed.

Overall, CoD 4 = Skills required

MGO= Grind fest = skills.

Don't get carry away now. When people talk about CoD the first thing or one of the first things is gonna be online. CoD is known for its intense online play. MGS series is just totally opposite.

MGO is a nice bonus for such a great game in MGS4 but there is no way that MGO comes near to the level of CoD online.

They really aren't the same type of game. I prefer MGO. I got sick of CoD 4 after about 1 and a half to two weeks when i hit lvl 55. MGO should last me till Socom I think.

i got tired of cod4 within a week and im pretty good at fps games. i prefer mgo, it has a steeper learning curve and you cant just jump in and own. where i was easily in top 3 in cod im actually having to work to get up there in mgo. theres also so much random sh1t that can happen and being able to sneak around is fun as hell. i really like the camera and being able to look around a corner too.

They are completely different on-line games. One of my gripes with MGO however is that you needed to download a patch before you can even start playing. Maybe if the game was a few months old but I thought they would have sorted out all the bugs during the beta period and released the final product with MGS4.

By the way...MGO = 6/10 in my books. MGO is simply not my type of multiplayer game as its more about stealth and sniping than action. I much prefer Gears of War for TPS multiplayer.

considering cod 4 is one of the worst games i've ever played (since it's EXACTLY the same game as cod 2 and 3), i'd say that's not much of an accomplishment.

best console MP game is Gears of War. more people have played that game since it's released than any other console game. even after halo 3 and cod 4 became week old boring games, GoW was still being played by tons of people. it's about 20 months old and it's still in the top 5-6 on xbox live. beating rock band.

the only game that is going to top gow is gow 2.

MGO shiits on COD4 in my opinion.

For me they are about equal in terms of enjoyment, with maybe a slight tilt toward mgo because it's newer, but the menu systems in MGO are horrendous. It's like playing online on the PS2.

But i like MGO better. There's nothing like playing with your friends shooting them with a mosin nagat then planting some porn magazines around them so when they wake up they get stuck looking through them. So funny. But both of them are really good. It just comes down to preference.

TF2 is still my favorite online game though.

I still prefer it's online modes to MGO. Pretty much the only thing that keeps me playing MGO is the Sneaking Mission-mode because there you can use stealth if you get to play as Snake. Otherwise beeing everything but a M4/AK whore is uneffective besides using the snipers from long range, of course. This means that CQC is almost useless and stealthy gameplay is a joke.

It all depends on how you like to play shooters online. I prefer faster action, so COD 4 fits my bill, no questions asked.

If you prefer more tactical and slow pace, MGO will fit your bill better. Again, they are 2 different games to really compare. MGO comparisions would be more suited to Rainbow 6 games.

but one is a tps while the other is a fps, ...u both have sniping postion in cod4 and mgso...and u dont take long before u enconter someone to fight,.... personaly i prefer mgso simply because u dont get cheap kills like cod4, the amount of time i get killed as soon as i respawn in cod4 is just amazin, some times i respawn near 3 enemies and before i can even pull the trigger i get killed and when i c my kill cam i c the person filling hard that he got a kill or should i say cheap kill !! u know who u r!!....in mgso the respawn is handled very well,...and the graphics are just sick, i never tought i could see an online game that has the same graphics as the single player,in cod4 the graphics are brought down, u will not really notice it until u stop and exam the place,...any way both games are sweet, i just dont know how i will go back to playing cod4 because i am to used to mgso controls.

I beat the SP mode, played a few games of the MGO an was not impressed. i longed in 23 hours before beating the game, an the experience i had with the online just wasn't fun, i just haven't brought myself back to play it. i wasn't wowed the first few times i played it, so for me COD4 is hands down the better MP experience.

Unless you like numbers that can give you an idea of what's going on. Its 1.4 million as of Jun 13th according to that VGchartz place. But they overestimate and underestimate quite often.

I think they are both good games online. COD4 imho is the better more easy to pick up game, but it came out last year and to me has got old. I still love playing it but the game has started to wear off me. MGO online is harder for the more casual gamer to pick and have fun with so cod4 win in that sense. But for me at the moment mgo is the better game, it has more depth, more ways to play, more scope for clan strategy. The personal stats page for you and friends put cod to shame, adding friends is very easy, the mail system, the blog page, automatching or just picking a server also put cod4 to shame.

He talks about weapon customization, stat tracking, graphics etc as reasons, all of which COD4 does pretty damm good, so mostly he just stated the differences because his explanation of "why" MGO is better seem like a stretch...he even used: "6. YOU GET TO PLAY AS SNAKE!" as a reason, ha ha no sh!t its a MGS game. OK so maybe I'm reading too much into his reasons, maybe he's just a huge MGS fan and he's just sharing his *opinion in a light-hearted approach, thats cool. Personally COD4 is hands down a much better online experience than MGO, I like the fast-paced action of COD4, but MGO has other problems like the controls need tweaking they don't feel accurate, changing weapons, reloading is slow, voice chat is almost non-existent, leveling up is done much better in COD4, but again mostly it comes down to preference.

Even if both games are different, one requires true skill and that would be MGO. CoD4 is great but I hate regenerating health in online games. I prefer MGO because it's the closes thing to Socom.

I actually had a chance to play MGS4 the other day and I must say campaign mode is really good. Even though I felt I was watching a movie more than playing a game most of time I cannot lie it was good.
But, you FANBOYZZZZZZZ out there to say its online play is better than COD4. Know I now you guys are completely nuts and are in denial. I mean its really sad. Next to COD4 and GOW there are no other games that give you the most robust gaming expierence online than those two. The UAV system in COD4 is the reason why you should not run out in the open when your Commander yells out "Enemy UAV is online" Ever wonder why when you hit a corner you get wet up lovely and then complain how did he see you? Ever try to use a airstrike without one? The UAV is everything you could ever wanted without being heavily advantageous (It only last 30 sec.)

8. COD4s melee has nothing on CQC. Sneaking up behind or catching someone when they walk around the corner with a quick leg sweep or body slam is possibly the most refreshing feeling ever and might I add it’s hilarious to be a spectator for this event.

Last i check COD4 was still a beast online graphically and in Hi-Res. The only time Snake is in high res is when you chosing facecamo,Activecamo,Watching him smoke a stoagie during the install scenes or in some cutscene its starts out Hi-Resthe in like a Sec or two its goes right back to Lo-Res. During the game its has framedrop and skip and is Lo-Res.

mgo is more like counter strike to me. im only level 1 so i dont even know what a lvl 5 is like and if i met one i have no idea. all i know is i need to headshot and compensate for recoil to live. to me thats skill. COD4 you don't need to do sh1t to kill someone. cod4 is fast paced and its a rush for a while but it gets old quick. with mgs you are constantly able to set people up to die in different ways and just mess around. if you're really good at mgo you can dominate a map and make people look dumb.

MGO isn't for everyone. It has a big learning curve. You can't go guns blazing like CoD4, most of the time that will get you killed. You need to go for headshots and think a little

Anyone who doesn't like MGO is more than likely too use to a pick up and shoot game like COD4 than a deep stealhy multiplayer like MGO. It requires patience, planning and precision to get anywhere in that game and unfortunately those are traits most MP game player lack!

I personally prefer MGO. I really liked COD4, but I like MGO's methodical gameplay more. There's also a lot more variety when it comes to gameplay in MGO. MGO has all the types of guns COD4 has, but it also throws in CQC and hacking and stunning and all that jazz. What it basically boils down to is preference of fast-paced non-stop action or methodical play.

I love MGS4 just as much as the next guy but I gotta say there is no excuse for MGO. It's too bad because MGS4 would have been a better game w/o MGO.

Let me explain. MGO is not a fully fleshed out experience, its like Kojima just said, "you cant have a next gen game w/o online play, I'll work it in there somewhere!" The result, a cut and paste job of an online experience.

MGS4 would have been much better if instead of having a sub par online game just add more to the single player mode. The single player is so awesome in MGS it makes up for not having a good online.

I played a bunch of it, and it just can't holdup to the tight and perfectly balanced gameplay of CoD4. I'm suprised people can even make this kind of a list after playing it a week. Come back in a year and tell me that you stuck with MGO rather than CoD4. Either you played the hell out of CoD4 and want something new or your just really protective over your franchise and this game, cause seriously; people can argue that CoD4 is the most perfect FPS/shooter multiplayer game out there. I'm not saying that it is, but it's not far from it either. You can't say that with MGO. It just seems like this whole list is made up of not so good arguments by some fanboy who just played it for a couple of hours.

I’m beating a dead horse here… but Resisitance FOM gun lay out was so fun, multiplayer was one of my top favorite experiences. Insomniac nailed it and I would love a remaster and maybe a redo with Reisistance 2. They listens to players who were wanting a Halo killer and it kind of lost its character from the first.

Warhawk, if they had just remade the first one not Starhawk which offered nice things like the build and battle.. but Warhawk was the best arcade shooter I ever played. Back when you didn’t have battle passes and you actually had to get certain amount of kills or ribbons to unlock different paint skins on the Warhawks and armor for your player.. Look at the success of Helldivers 2, it’s a fun game and it reminds me of Warhawk in a way. I’ve been wanting a remake or sequel since the beginning of the ps4 gen.. it’s hurts to have hope nowadays. Even with the demise of the studios Sony has a steady fan base.

Killzone game after Killzone 2 play style would be nice

Motorstorm would be epic with the visual upgrade, maybe this game would be a harder sell with the genre being not as popular nowadays..

Resistance franchise, Motorstorm and Dirt 2 which was fun as heck. Add Dead Space 2 as well.

Sorry bud, but the PS3 generation was amazing and featured the greatest console comeback in history.

That said, I'd love it if Warhawk returned or Metal Gear Solid 4. It needs to not be shackled to the PS3 generation anymore. A Killzone 2 remake would be insane with modern graphics and that art direction.

I really miss this gen of gaming. It felt like the last truly "great" era for videogames before the modern approach really took hold.

The PS3 was such a glorious console. The UI, the games, the free online...just incredible.

I would pay good money for a Warhawk remake. Socom too. The last Socom game just didn’t do it justice. Folklore could use a remaster or remake as well.
Several other titles I would like to remade with the amount of visual fidelity the current gen has over the past consoles it could help articulate the games that we’ve loved growing up. I would love even some ps2 titles to remade.. Dark Cloud from ps2, Legacy of Kain series but don’t know what will come of it sense it was bought by Embracer group and all there layoffs.

This strategy is exactly what helped ruin Xbox. Sony more than Microsoft know when to let a franchise go and that is important to keep things fresh. The old games are there if you want to play them.

FF13 is top of this list for me. No matter your opinion on it, it being the only numbered offline FF out of all 16 not to be on new consoles is odd. GTA IV would be great too
