XboxOZ360 reports Australia can't handle the truth of digital distribution:
"The truth is out there…in cyberland. In our increasingly cashless society we are using digital transfers of everything from money in banking and buying to songs, films, TV shows, and software. The future is heading toward a place where tangibles make way for cyber-versions of real things. Games are no exception: we already have Xbox Live, Wii Shop and Playstation Store which offer mini-games, demos, classics, and new content. STEAM and Gametap already provide downloadable games for PC. But is the full digital distribution of games the way to go for consoles in Australia?"

Microsoft announced its financial results for Q3 of fiscal year 2026, including an update on its gaming Xbox business and more.
Not looking good. Hopefully Asha Sharma is able to turn Phil’s disaster around.
To me it's still quite remarkable how they can cash-in 5.3bn in revenue in a single quarter, since their hardware is basically dead.

Thanks to the slip-up of an artist working on the title, we now have more evidence that a new Injustice game is in the works.

Spiders: "We're going to cut straight to the chase so you're not left wondering: After a long period without clear answers, we have received confirmation that Spiders is being liquidated.
What does it mean? This means the company as a whole no longer exists. We'll cease our functions immediately. The planned DLC will release via Nacon, and then-- well, that's it.
We're sorry that it's come to this and would like to thank each and every one of you for your support over the years.
If you have any questions or run into issues with your games, please contact Nacon directly as we'll no longer be able to reply."
Telstra just needs to give up their quest for Australia domination and give us good internet.
I find myself in the paradox that I prefer physical copies of games, movies etc. but enjoy the instant gratification of downloading things from home and getting access. Particualry I enjoy finding things I can otherwise not find in a physical form in a store.
Demos etc. are great as downloadables but I'd get no satisfaction of ownership with some game file on a hard drive. I still bought the Oblivion Game of the Year version even though I had most the content, for example.
Before I have an internet connection fast enough so that I can watch Game trailer videos in HD or apple PSN network trailers in HD, then I will be incredibly screwed.
I have to admit, Back in the PS1 days I had lots and lots of pirated CDs. However since I've grown old... I've started to enjoy owning physical copies of things in my CD rack, ie DVD's and PS3 games.
^^
Direct Downloads can't do what Physical Discs can do! (Although DD are more convenient!)
I think most 'gamers' would prefer to own physical copies of games. Of course there are positives to digital distribution but in it's current state at least, Australian infrastructure is certainly not ready for DD on a large scale.
Damn it Kevin07. Where's my new broadband!
lol!
