Carl Zeiss has announced their entrance into the virtual reality (VR) race with the launch of the pre-order campaign for VR One, a brand new head-mounted display (HMD) set to rival Samsung’s recently announced Gear VR. Available to pre-order from today, the VR One offers a smartphone mount that will be compatible with multiple devices.

Carl Zeiss, a lens producer, has announced a new virtual reality headset to compete with the Samsung Gear VR. Unlike the Gear VR which limits itself for the Galaxy Note 4, the VR One is said to be compatible for smartphones that measure between 4.7 to 5.5 inches depending the size of the trays that hold the device.
That's interesting, I've only known Carl Zeiss as a lens manufacturer for cameras. At the very least their glass is top notch.
I have worked with virtual reality in the medical field for decades and immediately went to order one of these from oneteamus.org/zeissvr. (First hit when you Google “vr one preorder”) Just before clicking on sending my order, I noticed the payment page is not secure (https) but http. I stopped immediately since this site is created by incompetents or is a scam. No reasonable web site would expect someone to enter their credit card information to be sent as plain text over the internet. Most likely that site is a scam by fraudsters.
