Being published by EA I have very little faith in the quality of Battlefront.

guyman4230d ago

I don't see how anyone could disagree, they push their devs to complete games in unrealistic time frames which results in poor quality i.e battlefield 4, or just more of the same with a different number i.e fifa.

nX4230d ago

The earlier this game releases, the more I think they copy&pasted most of the mechanics from Battlefield. I hope they take their time with it and respect the Battlefront franchise instead of just monetizing off the Star Wars license.

It's too soon to tell, but it seens the fall patch really get the mechanics and netcode to where it should had been on BF4. So, if they start from that point, it not necessarily a bad point. With that said, I'm just as concerned, Battlefront is not Battlefield, it shouldn't be, so EA need to back off and let DICE take their time and make sure this one doesn't just work properly, but also have it's own personality.

"The earlier this game releases, the more I think they copy&pasted most of the mechanics from Battlefield"

I really hope that isn't the case. Battlefront might have always been a Battlefield clone, but it also had a lot of its own charm and mechanics that differed enough to feel like a completely different game.

@ thunderbird86

10 years ago every sports game EA made was better than its opponents, now Tiger Woods and Basketball almost don't exist and a few more of their games are barely hanging on. I'm starting to question if they even know how to make games anymore.

I'm sorry... I could care less if it is EA, Activision, or the great Satan himself publishing the game. All I want is conformation that the game is gonna be 3rd person outside of vehicles. DICE has said that there will be 3rd person while in/on vehicles, but have not confirmed if the regular gameplay sill be 3rd person. I don't want Star Wars Battlefield, I want Star Wars Battlefront. Seeing your character whether it's just a plain Stormtrooper, or the Emperor himself is a big part of playing Battlefront games. I'm still trying to comprehend the idea that there is a generation which hasn't played Battlefront.

Fifa is great. It's football so you can't reinvent the wheel every year but if you skip out a year or two and eliminate the fatigue of an annual release the series has made great strides forward.

EA can't afford making any mistakes with Battlefront, they know damn well that they fudged up with BF4.

It looks like they're taking the time to do this well, considering it got announced in 2013, got only a little Behind the Scenes in 2014, and will most likely get a gameplay trailer in 2015.

That's 3 years of plain teasers, the game will probably release in late 2015 / early 2016.

I believe in EA, no publisher ever wants to have such a negative impact on them again.

annoyedgamer4230d ago

You mean like the Sims 4 released broken with loads of cut content after the battlefield debacle?

Releasing teasers isn't hard.

arkard4230d ago

Or the facr that they wanted BF Hardline out this fall even though it wasnt ready. EA hasnt learned a damn thing.

ScottyHoss4229d ago

They delayed it though.. If they didn't learn anything then it wouldn't have gotten delayed -_-

Not saying I trust EA, and there's no true way to tell if they did learn anything until release, but it's a start. Better than releasing it this fall.

Mr_Writer854229d ago

He could be onto something.

Sure EA have the contract, but Disney own the rights.

Do you think Disney would be happy having a series they paid over 3 billion for being linked to a crappy game?

EA will need to be on top of their game if they want to keep the contract.

Disney are not stupid, they will have clauses in there.

i agree.. I have limited faith in this game,
but I would say the devs that made first 2 were purchased by EA. Those devs havent made anything else, I just hope some devs are actual fans of the first 2.

The biggest problem I see here, with DICE making this, will it not play and feel very similar to BF4?

There are some very fundamental differences which I am not sure the DICE devs even realise.
I do hope its good, but following recent releases its very hard to make any other judgement.

The other thing, will EA make this mandatory online? This is due to 'single player mods' right.

I really feel this will be BF4 skinned with Star wars, which they are just reselling, rather than just providing a mod.
Thats the biggest issue I am seriously concerned with, I can see to cut major dev cost the execs at EA said "just do BF4 with star wars models".

troylazlow4229d ago

I don't care who is making it, the first two were some of my favorite games of all time. Just take my money!

mopground4229d ago

since next gen eas games have hit a new low in quality

As this is a star wars game, there is a great chance to surprise EA fans.

Elwenil4230d ago

EA has fans? Or did you mean Star Wars fans?

LOOK_AT_THIS_I4230d ago

Is this going to remain a 3rd person view game or are they just gonna phone it in and use battlefields 1st person? I haven't seen a confirmation yet. If it stays 3rd person I will pick it up, 1st person I will pass or get it cheap from eBay/gamefly.

Neixus4230d ago

It's either 3rd person or both, they said.
The previous battlefronts had both perspectives available
